Hey guys. Anybody found and beaten the Lv99 Red Chocobo in the Ozmone Plain? Ive tried every darned thing and I got nothing. Its out there, I just dont think there's a set condition to get it to show. Any takers?
I have faught that LV99 Red Chocobo. Got my butt whoop and was LV 87 (I believe). Why I got my butt whooped is because he uses some kind of magic where rocks fall on all parties and deals 4500 damaged. Reflect doesn't work and he is quick as heck.

Don't listen to those losers. The gambit system is awesome. In my opinion, the game would be nearly unplayable without it.
thats how you see it and you think is awsome but from how I see it Gambit is just completely pointless in this game / you dont need gambit to play it thru is not nesesary / is not something that you must use to play it better Gambit is basicaly an option I mean what is the point? is like Gambit = Auto-play mode and you do nothing but watch. THE game itself is Fantastic but Gambit is just a pointless option. I do not use gambits at all cos I dont feel in control of my characters making battles completely boring.

I dont dislike gambits I just think is pointless UNLESS you are cooking a pizza and you really need to watch it so it doesnt burn SO THEN TURN ON YOUR GAMBITS

I really enjoy pressing and choosing what I want to do by myself and active mode makes it alot interesting

because I think Gambit is pointless ( no useless ) doesnt mean I dont like the game. the game is by far the best yet.

btw is UK getting the collectors edition?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

You seem to have misunderstood the purpose of gambits. It's not as if you can't control your characters while you have gambits on. You can still pause the action whenever you want and issue commands that override the current gambit, which is brilliant. They're simply there to perform tasks for you if you wish. Instead of pressing X twice to attack an enemy, gambits will do it for you. Instead of keeping constant eye on your team's HP, then pressing X four times to heal one character, the gambits will do that for you, while you can focus on the bigger picture. It's not an auto-pilot, well-planned gambits are more of a tactical tool, making the gameplay close to something like Jagged Alliance.

But as you said, they're not forced on you, which in my mind makes the system even more flexible. But pointless, hardly. That's like saying the save crystals are fucking pointless and for lazy people because I'm a manly man and never turn off my console.

Indeed, this comes so handy when your gambits can heal fallen allies with PD and Arise rather than you having to stop the game and doing it yourself. The computer can think faster than I can input commands.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Gambits are a godsend when you have tendonitis too =0. I absolutely cringe at how much more my left wrist would probably hurt right now if I had to input every single command manually.

Anyway, I just recently beat Zodiark (my characters were 65 and 66), and by far, the key to the last 20% was swapping in Pheasent Netsukes just before someone would use a phoenix down so people would be revived with full hp (otherwise I had 2 characters with bubble belt, 1 with opal ring). After that, the bubble-belt wearers could actually live long enough to avoid an endless cycle of death, and the opal-ring wearer could nuke Zodiark with flare or scathe, etc. Of course there's always the element of luck with darkja and the black masks... could be a full heal or a full wipe, usually somewhere in between.

Originally I had tried using 3 opal ring wearers to "finish him faster," but all that did was cause people to die almost instantly upon being revived due to not having enough hp to withstand a melee attack, let alone another scathe from Zodiark. I haven't done Ultima yet so I guess that's next, then maybe I'll finally have to give in and level to 99 to tackle the ultimate side bosses,

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The gambit system has a bit of a learning curve for me but they're definitely not pointless, but thank goodness for that battle system.

Also, I am in love with Fran's voice.

YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

I just finally beat Yazmiat yesturday and my eyes were blood shot RED. I didn't even take a break from that battle. But I am done for a couple of day to let my eyes heal up.

Man, was he difficult when he got down to 4 bars. Got alot quicker and defense was high. Also, didn't know that he doubled his LV. I personally used the technique "Decoy-Reverse" with the gambit on 1 character and had the other 2 cure one another when low but attack also. All 3 had Arise. When he used "Death Strike," that would be the only time when I would control the other 2 characters to "Arise" the person that is getting hit by "Deathstrike," before "Deathstrike" effect take into effect. Took me about 3 Hours.

When I got down to, I would say about 6 hits left on him, I thought I would lost it because I had 1 guy left and brought in a girl to PD but she got hit. So everybody is dead and I had to bring in 2 girls with HP 2350. 1 died, but the other one actually PD, revived 1 guys and revived the other 2, and ended it. A gruelling and exhusting battle.

I like the gambit system personally. That helped me out big time with healing mostly. Like someone mentioned earlier, you can concentrate on what you are doing without everytime thinking about other situation. For battle like Yazmiat, I cannot see anybody beating him without the Gambit situation.

I was speaking idiomatically.

It does, actually, since Yazmat is a reference to Matsuno, and mutating it into Yazmiat loses said connection  :grrr: :shakefist:

You don't need the Diamond Armlet for Excalibur, but it's recommended while the chest with the Zodiac Escutcheon/Brave Suit in it does require it. Oh, and if you get the Brave Suit there when the chest actually appears, no more Z. Escutcheons from there, from then on.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wheee. Obligatory I-beat-the-game post. I'm probably not gonna go back to do more (get weapons, get espers, hunt, etc), but that was fun. Two months too long. ;_;

Yeah, I am going to try and get it while I am there. Pretty much all I have left is Ultima and Omega. I have 99 of everything besides the ether, which I am going back for.

I just died after 2 hours of Yiazmat, had 8 bars left no less. It was my own STUPID mistake; Balthier was on Petrify & I (like an idiot) wasn't watching the counter and I had just run out of Gold Needles. So Balthier (who was my healer) freezes, cant get him out of Petrification because I have no more Gold Needles, Vaan and Basch falls from a Cyclone blast, and before I new it my back up characters were killed by Rake (similar to LilGreekKid's 'almost lost it' moment). 2 hours gone, because of a Gold Needle!

Started the fight up again, and after I kill it, all I have left is to do Omega, then buy the Wyrmhero Blade, do the Rare Game Hunt, and level everybody to 99 and finish the bestiary for 100% completion sake. Oh and try and find that darned Lv 99 Red Chocobo..

lol....try to get 99 of everything. Makes it easier. Did you use the Reverse-Decoy Technique? You should use that and have the other 2 use Curaga on themselves and have everybody, even the one using the technique, have Arise at the top of your gambit.

By the way, does anybody have the whole list of Beastiary? Or anybody know a website that displays the whole list?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm on my way to take down Zordiak. I found the note on the ground regarding some "stash", do I need to find this "stash"? Also, those slime doods in the new Shaft 2 of Henne Mines are serious business, even more so than the bombs in the Gate Crystal past Girguvagen.

Second time round finished Yiazmat in 2hrs exactly. Had battle speed on Fastest, kept Basch equipped with the Masamune while hasted & beserked, Exposed Yiazmat 5 times which dropped his defense down drastically, thereafter every shot I made was 9999 damage. Along with the Genji Gloves, Basch was murdering Yiazmat with all the combos, the longest being 12 hits which happened about 5 times throughout the entire fight. Even Vaan with his Zodiac Spear had a lucky 6 hit combo, while equipped with a Power Armlet nevermind. Classic stuff. All I really physically had to do was Syphon now and again, otherwise I let the Gambits do their thing. Imagine, manually fighting Yiazmat, thats ridiculous!! Oh and by the way I ended the fight this time with 53 Gold Needles. Used Esunaga more cleverly this time.

Mom Bombs are just annoying if you let them get off a ton of physical hits/detonate. Hecteyes are serious rapists if you don't guard against confuse or their Thundaga spam. I just engage them physically, since they'll freeze one of your people if you try to cast against them (and will get torn up by the bats in that case).

Still, they're not that bad.

Even though Yiazmat was the longest fight, I think imho that Zodiark was the most challenging. (STRATEGY TIP) Even though I had Black Masks equipped to absorb his Darkja attack, there were cases when it wasnt always absorbed and instead caused a KO. Near the end he just kept bombarding that spell hardly leaving me anytime to make a move, but I nailed him with a shot of Scathe between every 2-3 casts of Darkja and he fell to his ,umm, "knees".

Protip: Darkja has an added effect, just like the rest of the Esper "Ja" spells.

For example, Belias' Firaja inflicts Oil. Zodiark's added effect is random death. Trust me, the Black Masks are tactical boon, as they free time which would've been taken up by Curaja/Renew/etc and turns it into another valuable attack turn. Especially near the end when, as you said, he just spams that bullshit.

I've noticed something: Most of us off the bastard with Scathe in the end. I guess that's a benefit of being by far the best attack spells (non-elemental).

Saga, Juggernaut is that tree-like rare game right? I don't remember the particulars, but I just randomly ran across him while pass through the Feywood. Sounds like it's one of those "randomly replaces X monster in field" like Grimalkin.

Edit: Heh, I was off with everything except the randomness aspect:
