The World Wide Webcomics Thread
We all know what they are, Comics can sometimes be very funny or so pitiful that we just want to kill the guy who draws Garfield. However, A breed of comics exist that lie beyond the border of the known realm of paper. I'm talking about WebComics. Below you'll find a list of some popular Webcomics to enjoy. So try a few, and don't be afraid to PM me if I missed some or just post it in the thread. Don't forget to tell me if it is NSFW so I can put it on the list.
Jam it back in, in the dark.

You're missing some big hitters: Sluggy, PvP, Questionable Content and Least I Could Do being the biggest.
I also tend to check out PandaXpress (mostly for the art and coloring), Malakh (for the storyline), Joe and Monkey, Multiplex, Girl Genius, and Pandect (for some seriously good art). Gotta say that McNinja takes the coolest random storyline award, while QC has the best romantic and indie banter. And Applegeeks is just the prettiest thing to be posted online. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Most of the ones I read were checked off (I'm surprised you got Snafu, I only found that set recently). But here's a few more that I adore:
Oh My Gods! - Religious comedy at its best. Simply drawn, just a bunch of gay pagans running around making fun of everything... including themselves. Done in a tasteful way... sometimes. ![]() Machall - Its on hold for now, but reading what is actually there (from 382 strips) is a blast. It follows geek college students in their life... including dealing with what college life is all about. Chugworth Academy - A site not afraid to give fan service when the artist is having trouble, Chugworth follows a set of almost too-beautiful teens in a crazy world... with ninjas and SPLAM-aid and making fun of emo kids. Looking For Group - By the same guys who brought you Least I could Do, this comic just got underway, and is showing great promise in the area of World of Warcraft humor (I think it's WoW... pretty sure. Any gamer will get the jokes though.) I guess an honorable mention should go out to Star Cross'd Destiny. It has good art, a decent storyline, and the artist just wont let up despite an illness. She recently started over again, so there's alot less in the comic now then there was before. All the others I read were mentioned though. ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Star Cross'd is <3. Loved the art and think Juno is a great person who's had to deal with too much crap in her life. She's friends with the author of Malakh, which is fun, since the author of Malakh is autistic and they can swap hospital/doctor stories. :P
I used to read Mac Hall on time, but from what I understand the 'hiatus' is indefinite - they've 'moved on with life' and 'might' come back to pick things up again, but with no promises made. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Megatokyo is awful.
*VG bans Deni from the thread* What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
I happen to enjoy Alien Loves Predator, updated Tuesdays and Fridays. It follows the life of an Alien and a Predator living in New York, and it's usually pretty damn funny.

THanks for all the Comics guys, I'll update this afternoon when I get back to my college.

Drex-
Is it indefinite? The way I read it they were saying 'well, we're done for now, but don't think we're out of it just yet!'. Granted, Ian ended it with a comic about how he was moving away for his job, so I guess that's a total ending. As for Star Cross'd Destiny, I really wonder where Juno was going with the original storyline. She's really put up with alot, and I was actually confused to see everything changed when I started reading it again. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |

Do you think you could put a Sticky on this thread? There's nowhere I can't reach.

No love for white ninja?
Pretty funny at times, but other times it's so random that I just don't get it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
DINOSAUR COMICS! - The animations in the panels are the same for every comic, but the words change every day. And somehow he's been keeping this up for almost four years now.
And I guess I could point out my sprite comic that has been dead for a few years now. It was a Mega Man sprite comic, like every other comic in 2001, and it really only lasted about a year, but I think it had a few good moments. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Since there's a discontinued webcomic on the main list, I feel I should mention Concerned.
The comic is based off of a... lesser known character in the Half-Life universe. It isn't entirely necessary that the game is played before Concerned is read, but it certainly helps, especially with comics such as this one. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Well I updated the list.

two glaring omissions.
I Drew This biting political humer that hits home every time.... and i mean EVERY TIME!!!! and Achewood (highly recomended) Story based black humour, while dabbling in strange out of this world art like concepts. Warning, can be extremley morbid sometimes, but the story is well worth it (i suggest you read them all starting from the beginning.) What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

I can think of a few that I visit consistently that aren't on the list:
Bob and George - one of the earliest and by far the best of the MegaMan sprite recolor comics Filibuster - editorial cartoons by a Canadian caricaturist with a penchant for world affairs Piled Higher and Deeper - a whimsical and lightly ironic look into the life of graduate students Tsunami Channel - a Japanese amateur artist taking on the cliched tenets of manga and anime while trying to improve his craft I can't provide a good description for the others, but I still read them . . . Epoch Mach Blue and Blond WhoGirl I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Stickying this thread. I had a huge bookmark list of webcomics I read in the past. I'll have to dig through it to see if I have any not listed here.
And guys, it's great to have good webcomics but I must say that terrible webcomics if at least noted are worth mentioning. Perhaps if this gets too large we may want to think on organizing these into genres, Dekoa. If I ever feel like it I might go about doing that while keeping a back-up of your current list. We'll see how it works out when or if the time comes. For now I will sticky this thread and present you with the horror that is Boston and Shaun. A comic that can't be read entirely from its source http://www.bostonandshaun.com/ which only goes back to 2005. One must begin at its beginnings at an off-mainsite archive - http://bostonandshaun.sunblazewildfi...ic.php?comic=1 I shudder at what I've unleashed upon you all. I was speaking idiomatically. |
You're missing a few more heavy hitters, player.
Sinfest - Social satire through the use of stereotypes, including a drunk pig. (not unlike myself) This is a must have and my favorite web comic. I even have all three of Ishida's comic collection books signed by Ishida himself. <3 User Friendly - Probably the first web comic I started reading back in 1998 when the internet was a magical and wonderful place instead of the pervasive bukakke hole we have come to know it as. Tech support has never been funnier. "HOW DO I FIX MY COMPUTER?!" "Type 'format c:'..." Diesel Sweeties - Love and pixels all wrapped into one nice package. You guys should really check out the character Indie Rock Pete and see if he reminds you of anyone on GFF. ![]() Joy of Tech - A parody comic geared toward Mac users. I met the artists at Macworld in 2001 and Nitrozac is the most fucking gorgeous and charismatic geek girl I've ever met. Sexy Losers - This one is not for the meek or for those with virgin eyes. In fact, try not to click on that link while you're at work or in your school's computer lab unless you want everyone to think you support necrophilia, chronic masturbation and pervasive over-the-top swearing. Unfortunately Clay decided he no longer had the drive or creativity to keep the strip going and decided to put it on hold for the time being. Archives are still up and running though. "Your fuck stock is shit, cumchugger!" What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Digital Unrest, Press Start To Play and Dueling Analogs. Three gaming-centred webcomics with very similar standards of humour.
