Yeah I did some of the bestiary project today, as well as go hunting for that Roblin in the Deadlands. Damn, those skeletons were so annoying. I had Vaan fighting the Roblin, or whatever it's called, alone while I, as Basch, went after the skeletons while Fran cured everyone. She eventually died so I switched her with Ashe. Vaan basically defeated the Mark all by his lonesome, haha...
After I won, I ran the heck outta there, but Vaan and Ashe died in the process. Yok yok! After my little sis goes back to school next week, I plan on playing more FFXII, since she won't have much time to play ToTA with me during the weekdays (homework and all). What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]()

Well, now it looks like I'm a HIGH GUARDIAN. Just took down the Antlion, which really is barely anything if you look at the scale of difficulty. I'm not sure why, but I guess the book made this puny level V mark seem formidable. Whatever. I just strutted in there like a cowboy, and went BOOM BOOM BOOM with my shotgun (aka Aero gambit). Now off to see Belito!
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() - What we all do best - |
Antlion raped me the first time I tried because I wasn't ready for the hordes of underlings surrounding him. Second time was a breeze, though.
I feel like I've been a Knight of the Round forever, and I'm not looking any closer to Order of Ambrosia. ![]() ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I just took care of that feathered bitch hunt Belito. Stupid bird never saw it coming. At this rate, I think I'm ready for the Nechrol of Nebrudis (lol probably not) or try my hand at the deadsands, I think. Where is that again, somewhere off the Salikawood?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() - What we all do best - |
Both are off the northern part of the Salikawood: the Necrohol to the west and the Deadlands to the north. Go through the walkway next to the orange crystal, where you should have battled the Bomb King.
Necrohol has no save points, Deadlands has one at the very beginning and one halfway through, or so. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Notice how I butcher up every spelling of the games locales? I really should start to get the guidebook beside me, rather than it sitting on the lazyboy 6 feet from my right. I'm not sure that I can take on level VII marks yet. I've taken out the Overlord, or something like that, which was a level VI rank. It wasn't sweating bullets hard, but it did provide an interesting challenge. I somehow really don't feel inclined on doing this fishing game. Is this like a "DDR" press-the-bhutans-to-get-a-prize-type mini-game.

Well I must say I am quite excited now. I finally got the last item I need to get the Tournsol. Now I just have to make it out of the Mines without dying. Shouldn't be too bad though.

The fishing game is unbelievably easy. The only part that's irritating is when fishing in the Upper Reaches after having obtained the Matamune fishing rod. You have 10% chance of getting the Cactoid Compact that allows you to fish in Hidden Shoal.
After that, it's a breeze, since over in HS, all you have to do is fish perfectly once which makes the Cactoid family gather on the boat. There, they present you with the Cactoid Commendation and you're off to the Master Den. There, the first fish you ever see is the King of Nebra. Simply enter the combination every time the fish swims by (it stays the same, don't worry) and by the 9th time, you'll have caught it. Ruksel examines the fish's stomach/mouth and gives you what was inside, Lu Shang's Badge. I'm taking down the last few rare game (the annoying ones) and doing very well. Just looking at the bestiary's progress bar with only a sliver of black left makes me anxious to get this game over and done with. A crappy surprise waited for me when I started though: Apparently, when I had been trying for a Grand Helm, I never saved after I encountered Tower, so I have to lure it out all over again. Anyone have any tips on how to make doing that easier? FELIPE NO ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |
WHAT? I have done literally 100 perfect trips in HS, so your saying they give you the commendation after one perfect trip? I must be doing something wrong then because I have done countless perfect trips and have yet to see them gather around Ruksel. How ya doing, buddy? |
Tell me, is there any kind of special prize for beating all of the marks? I have yet to defeat the Seer and have no desire to do so, ever. I'd rather fight Omega MKXII again than walk around in Subterra for even a minute.
Motivate me, people. Most amazing jew boots |
Edit: Well I finally got the damn Commendation. After you said you got it in one try MS I was bound and determined to have it by nights end. I feel so accomplished now haha. There's nowhere I can't reach.

This will complete everything under the Clan Primer menu, prompting the reward. As I said before, I'm on the cusp of this and the only thing really driving me forward is my perfectionist/completion-freak habits. Why else would a level 99 team go to Raithwall's tomb and smack a Lich while waiting for it to divide into Cultsworn Lich? The good news is, I only need 3 rare game. The bad news is that the Garif Adventurer has a horrifyingly low spawn rate and the Mandragoras are not only rare but semi-dangerous. As for the Shadowseer? I did all of that before fighting Omega, because I know I'd feel the same way you do, Piccolo. Well, you do get a little star on the end of the Hunt progress bar. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even.

Oh, well. In that case I'll just consider myself to have honorarily defeated it. I don't think I'll ever bother to complete the rest of the beastiary or minigames. I've already attained all of the Espers and beaten all of the hardest bosses. There's nothing left to do. There's no point in doing the fishing game, because I never picked up the Omega Badge, and there's too much running around required for beastiary filling.
I think that at this point, I am pretty much done with this game. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Getting down to him is rather easy, it's the battle that's a pain. He hides behind palings most of the time and spams Fearga when he finally takes it down, among other things.
One thing that really irritated me, was that Pandemonium did that Perfect Defense crap that drug that first part even longer (especially when he had maybe 1/32ns of this health left). Edit: Whoa, just finished the Seeq entry. A very strange tale on the creation of the land of Ivalice. Only 2 more rare game to go, some more mandragora, 1 Garif and the Whiteout concurrence. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even.

God damn, I don't even know if I'll be able to fill the beastiary, I'm about 50% full. I think now that I've taken down all the regular hunts, and mainly level VI and VII hunts remain. I'm thinking of taking down that fat chlululuwhatever esper. How's he like? Actually before that, I want to continue my Medal quest.

Well I finally went and fought Hellwyrm. It was a pretty easy fight, the only thing that annoyed me was Judgement and then at the end of the fight where every other move was invert. Aside from that though he was basically pretty easy. Took about a half hour so I can only imagine what's in store for the Yizmat/Omega fights.

|
I never use axes because they're never consistent enough to any degree. I'd much rather vary my weapons across all my characters. And I would ignore the attack power rating and base your weapons decision on actual damage caused in battle, if you're going to equip statistician-like. To do otherwise is not only ineffective, it's rather ignorant.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
So what do i dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo my friend you have not answered the question what do i doooooooooooooooooooooo
Most amazing jew boots ![]() Well wasnt that fun boys and girls?

Are you one of the types that does all axes across the board because the attack power looks higher? I've met quite a few people online who do that because they don't understand how the weapons system works.
Damage from Swords is determined by strength; find your strongest characters and equip them with swords. I have 3 people using swords, personally. If you're near the end, you can buy Stoneblade or Deathbringer, both of which are good, or you can go the two-handed sword route, which means more attack power but less defense, as you don't get a shield. Unless you use Defender, which is a fairly decent alternative. Daggers' damage is determined by a combination of strength and speed, but I've never found them to be as effective as swords, except perhaps because you can attack faster. Axes and hammers are based on strength, vitality, and the weapon's attack rating, I guess, but they're inconsistent - they will deal damage within a large range, so they can hit really hard or hardly at all. I stopped using them shortly after discovering them. Maces are like the axes and hammers, but factor in magic power. I haven't really figured them out, but supposedly they're for supporting characters. Measures are for giving positive status effects to your characters. Best used if you really have to keep a certain buff on your characters for a single battle, or if you have a completely devoted spellcaster. Then you have to make sure that your gambits are set correctly, too. I personally have never once used a measure. Damage from Katanas is based on strength, magic power, and the weapon's attack power, and is far more consistent than the mace. Plus, the Katana combos better than almost any other weapon (it's possible poles do more, but I haven't compared them directly?). Someone with good strength and magic power does well with a katana, and when paired off with Genji Gloves (stolen from the first Gilgamesh battle) it's a serious combo force. Ninja swords have better combos than Katanas, and instead of factoring in magic power factors in speed. Also does well with the Genji Gloves, and damage is significantly increased when paired with the Cat-Ear Hood. Spears are an alternate to swords, with damage based on strength and attack power. For variety's sake, I try not to have more than 3 people with swords/spears. Poles have a high combo rate and damage is also based on strength and attack power, BUT rather than factor in the enemy's defense, it factors in magic defense. Kinda tricky, but good if you use them correctly. Rods up your magic power, but damage is still based on strength/attack power. Basically for use with a magic user that you want boosted, and who won't be doing too much physical attacking. Staves (staff) increase magic power AND gives a bonus to spells cast with the same element as the staff. Damage is based on strength, magic power, and attack power. Bow damage is figured out from strength and speed, plus the arrow's attack power. It's ranged, and it's also affected by the weather on the screen. Good for a fast character, and watch for defense since bows don't increase evasion. Crossbows are good because they rarely miss, and the bolts inflict really decent status ailments. They're not terribly strong, though. Damage is determined by strength and attack power. Guns attack slowly, but have a 100% accuracy rate. Damage is determined by strength and attack power BUT it's also piercing, so it ignores defense. Therefore you basically have to ignore the attack power, because it's stronger than it looks. My Balthier does almost as much damage as my strongest sword guys, and he never misses. Hand-bombs do damage based on strength and attack power, as well as vitality. They are very innconsistent, though, and I never use them because of that. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I see...well let me explain my party to you.

So what this means is that since I use all 6 characters and like balance, I've got 3 sword/spears, 1 katana, 1 bow, and 1 gun.
With your team, you want to ditch the axes altogether, and probably give one of your characters a gun for ranged attack, one (or two) a sword, and one a katana (or not). Whoever has the best magic would use the katana (you'll like it for the combos), and whoever has the best strength would probably use the sword. Whoever's left gets the gun. Save the Queen is a 2-handed weapon (it says 2H on the bottom - katana is the same way), so you can never equip a shield. It's the price you pay for a strong weapon. Genji Armor is stolen from the 2nd Gilgamesh battle when he is on his last 20% of health. That is (as far as I know) the only way to obtain it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Haha So Drex is there anyway you could tell me some more detailed information about the weapons, or even possibly play the game for me? haha just kidding.
I'm thinking of devoting some serious time to leveling up my secondary party since they are only at 50 while my main is at 86. I wanted to have them equal before the Yizmat/Omega fights. Well definetley for the Yizmat fight but did you guys have to use your second party for the Omega fight? Edit: Does anyone know where I can find a good Great Crystal map, or just give me GOOD directions to Ultima? How ya doing, buddy?
