Rappelz

I just downloaded this and played it a little and think it is a stunning looking MMoRPG. It looks a little complex now but they all do when you start. It has the look of FFXI but it has one key advantage, its free. There is no monthly fee as it is from the people at Gpotato.

http://rappelz.gpotato.com/

My name is Seraphinos in the game and I am a little confused as to what to do. Does anyone want to come join me in either learning about the game, or maybe to come teach me, as the whole thing is a little daunting.

I wonder if anyone here plays this game already and what are your opinions of it? It would be kinda cool to get a team together to go and party or however it works in this game, and we could all level together.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I downloaded this the other day and started playing. It wasn't too bad and didn't have a lot of lag. The characters and enemies looked nice enough. The landscape was pretty bland though and it's pretty much your standard click on and lock weaker enemies to build experience for god knows what purpose. I think it's probably one of those games you play with other people you meet to talk while killing things at the same time and if you manage to kill something big together then maybe you talk about it or something.

But basically everyone is a clone in the game since there basically 6 characters to choose from with small changes in face and hair. Maybe when you change class your outfit changes or something but beyond your name it seems like it's difficult to tell who is who. But anyway this is coming from someone who played for 30 minutes after waiting for hours for it to do updates and then fubared the game when he fucked with display refresh rate settings. The game no longer works for whatever reason and I don't really see a point in going through the trouble again for what seems like FF12 in character looks dumbed down in everything else and ragnarok online in play. Neither game is very desireable to me. I require more purpose and action in MMOs. I wish I could find one that was like that. Grail Online used to be like that before it became super gay and the creaters lost all their focus. Anyway, I uninstalled this game and played Psychonauts instead. It was like going from floor crumbs to a steak dinner on a cruise ship.[/rant]

But yeah I'd probably recommend Flyff over this game from gpotato. You can jump and fly in that game! Makes it 300 percent better even though it's still a pretty pointless game where you just grind enemies all day for no real purpose. BUT YOU CAN FLY AND JUMP AROUND LIKE AN IDIOT SO IT'S A-OKAY. [/another rant]

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I absolutely love playing this game. It's downright addicting the moment I began to grasp how the controls work. Though, sometimes I find them annoying (such as having to use the mouse majorly), but gameplay-wise, very appealing. To me anyway. I've played both WoW and FFXI enough to compare them. Though, FFXI and WoW have their high points in supremecy, they get boring fast. FAST.

With Rappelz, you don't pay a monthly fee and you can make alot of characters without any limitations. Plus, starting your character out with equipment and money isn't such a problem either. It's actually got a good drop system for giving players money per kill, etc.

For a Free 2 Play game, it's quite beautiful in terms of graphics. If it were P2P, I don't think the graphics would of gotten any better. Just recently, they've implemented a update that makes bodies of water more realistic looking. Sure, a minor enhancement, but for free.

Soloing is fairly decent as well. The need to party doesn't happen yet until you engage later dungeons. Some trainee quests say you should get a party for their tasks, but you can solo anything on that trainee island with little worry of death. At least from lv10-11. You eventually rack up a set of some 30 regeneration potions. Pop a potion, run out of range and let it heal you over time. With regained hp, go back and close that gap to finish your monster. And upon leveling up, your HP/MP recharge to full, just like in FFXI.

The HUD. or GUI, is alot like Ragnarok + WoW. Hardly any resemblance to FFXI's. And yeah, the emotions can use some work..... (Especially for Deva females.)

Other than minor irks here and there, what do you expect? It's free. And it's pretty darn fun for a free game.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I' m not really in the mood to make a big post about this, but I will say that I do enjoy this game. I just finished my quest where you have to kill the 3 mountain antemas. And I stopped right before I got my Class Promotion.
I still don't know which to Choose between the 3, anyone got some suggestions?

I went for the Black Magi when I had to chose Class Transfer
I'm currently at level 15 and is about to leave the Training Island.

I liked this game a lot.

Haha an online friend of mine who lurks here told me about this game just last night, and I stopped playing after I had to fight the three strong enemies too. It's pretty decent so far, and I chose a Dark Magi for my class. I get lag when I'm in town though.

My name's Ziral there, and I go to the Yeti server.

That's me.

P.S. What's up with those boobs? XD

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

What are the PVP (if any) rules on this game? There are some F2P games out there where the whole world is open game for someone to come and smite you down, but that person is open game to be smited as well, etc etc.

I just want to be able to grind in peace without worrying about some schmuck trying to murder me.

Haha no, you can choose to turn PvP on and off, so you're perfectly safe from harm. I don't go for PvP myself.

Well that is refreshing to know I suppose.

Maybe I'll look into this sometime in the future when I need something to pass time =0

I assume the female equipment gets more and more revealing to signify its superior defensive capabilities.

My friend told me about this and I was actually kind of interested in it.

Problem is, the installer takes me forever to download. <_<

I'll probably just leech the installer off my friend the next time I see him.

One question:
Can somebody explain me about the LAK? I didn't really understand it, I mean... I got the chaos stone necklace from the trainer, but when I tried to wear it, it says that I don't have the requirements to wear it. (I'm at level 15).

Freelance Wolf:
To tame a pet, do you click on an enemy and click on the tame skill....?

You should be able to wear the necklace...requirement to wear it is just level 1.

To tame a pet, you need the following:

Creature Item Expert, Creature Control, Creature Mastery, Summon Creature, Recall Creature, and Creature Taming level 1 skills

An empty creature card (there is one for each pet)

To tame monster, you have to select it and use the Creature Taming skill. The monster must be at 100% health!!! It takes a bit to cast, and once cast, it will attack you. You must kill it, and after that's done, it will tell you whether it's been tamed or not.

If tamed, you have to go to the Creature expert person and form it before you can summon it.

How ya doing, buddy?

I currently have a Long Stick Lv 4. Does that count as a staff...?
Because I have upgraded the "staff attack" skill to Lv 4.

Man, I had a character around level 20 back in the day. Might think about jumping back on if PSU falls apart.

Long sticks are staffs. If you're gonna be a magic user, staffs are a must. They increase the power of your magics. For example, with the staff equipped, I was doing 265 DMG to an Opud. With the spear equipped, I was doing only 191 DMG. That's a big difference.

I'm really digging being a Dark Magi so far. The Leech Life spell or whatever is called is awesome. I get a lot of HP back while doing lots of DMG to the target, and I'm only at level 1!

I use staffs and spears depending on whether I need to use magic or not.

If it helps, I Dled the client from one of the West Coast servers at Gamershell.com (check the DLS on the official website). Maybe you should try there.

I may have to see about looking into this. It does look pretty good, and it's free as well.

That install file is mighty big, I'm going to have to download it later, would do it now, but I got an email from my ISP not so long ago, warning me about my high download usage during peak-times.

I'll post an update, and my thoughts once I have it downloaded, and have had the chance to play it a little.

The downloading is not the problem. I downloaded the game within an hour or so. It's the update that takes forever! (expect many hours)

Anyways...
I read something about Second Class Transfer at level 50 in the game. What does this mean? Does it mean that you start over at level another class with all your items?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I've just downloaded this and had all the updates done, but I can't run it. I tried over at their forums, people are having the same trouble, but none have had a solution for it yet.

When I click the start game button, I get an error message, something about HackShield. Can someone tell me, or give me some idea as to what to do about this?

I'm thinking it's because of my dual-core processor. Oh well, better go and find another game to play.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It means you become a advanced version of your class at that level. Comes with new skills, and stat boosts.

So I've played for a while, it seems like a pretty generic type of thing, maybe it's just the nub lands that are suffering from this but I don't notice much of a real desire to keep chatting with the NPCs and instead just grind my soul away.

Nothing wrong with that though.

Yeah, the noob island is quite boring. It picks up when you get out of there though. Use the lak system to help you get some quick cash. You get them quite often later on.
