I think it's a combination of the two. They also have several songs that mention "space bacon".

For those of you that have downloaded or are planning to, that's the promo version of Gothic Kabbalah that was leeked. Promo = 79 minutes. Gothic Kabbalah (2 CDs) = 82:37. If you do the math, the promo is missing 8 min and 37 seconds.. which is a lot.

I want to listen to the full version of Adulruna Rediviva. ;-;

Just picked up As I Lay Dying's Shadows are Security today. Reminds me of Killswitch Engage, and I love Killswitch Engage. AILD and KSE would be considered Metalcore, no?

Yep.

Killswitch Engage just came out with a new CD recently, entitled As Daylight Dies. It improves on The End of Heartache significantly, without losing the formula they started with that album. More of the songs feature prominent melodic vocals, but there's plenty of solos and killer double pedalling to satisfy metalcore fans and previous fans of KSE.

Man, I'm sorry to say that Into Eternity's latest album was an utter disappointment for me aside from the track "Surrounded By Night." I was really hoping for more of the Dead or Dreaming power metal mixed with death, but it turned out more the other way around...squalling death with little bits of power mixed in here and there.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Listening to Astrofaes a lot these days. Can't believe it took me something like 5 tries to finally like them.

Also, I re-listened to Lucifugum's Instinct Prevelance, and shit, is that album awesome. It's too bad that the majority of the Ukrainian scene albums released before 2000 have such a terrible production, because they're always the ones with the best synth works. =p

Just uploaded Belenos' latest album for someone, so I'll post that here as well.

They're a French Celtic Folk Metal band, and while I usually dislike modern music sang in French, I really like them. I can barely understand a few words of what they sing, anyway... ^_^;

God this album is possibly the best thing they have ever done in their entire fucking career.

Also. New Devin Townsend album is on the internet. It's kinda similar to Devlab.

I saw Children of Bodom with Amon Amarth, Sanctity and Gojira. That was a pretty awesome show. I really enjoyed Amarth though I felt the set was too short and could've used more songs from Fate of Norns. I enjoyed Sanctity as well. I didn't know them and didn't know what to expect. Gojira was entertaining if a bit repetitive. As for COB I really enjoyed the first two songs they played, but after that I was sort of meh, I'm not a diehard fan of them.

Lately, I cannot get enough of 'gothic' female bands. I don't know why, when I start to stray away from that style of music I always get sucked back in and love it because of another band. It can be Nightwish,Lunatica,Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, and even Evanescence. Something about female vocals over rock/metal makes very addicting music to listen to for me. If anyone can recommend anymore bands like the above, it would be helpful for me.

Anyway, with the more metal style. Arkona is quickly becoming a great band to listen to, after a friend introduced me to them I cannot get enough of them.

Gothic metal bands with female vocalists I'd recommend aside from the ones already listed: Flowing Tears, Xandria, Leaves' Eyes, Theatre of Tragedy, Midnattsol.

It's a shame the new Lunatica album is kind of... Bad.

I actually liked it quite a bit, it was a lot more 'poppy' so to say, but I enjoyed the entire album pretty much. I listened to it a lot more than Fables and Dreams

So I got a ton of new CDs today.

Unearth - III: In the Eyes of Fire
Animosity - Empires
Shadows Fall - Fallout From the War
Nightrage - Sweet Vengeance
Glass Casket - Deperate Man's Diary
Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Shape of Despair - Shape of Despair
Shape of Despair - Shades of...

I haven't heard Shape of Despair, Biomechanical, or Nightrage. Anyone know much about them? This will be my first Immortal album, only heard a couple songs but since it was 70% off I decided why not. I've only heard a bit of Glass Casket and Disillusion but I liked what I heard.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I was seriously disappointed with that CD. I liked a few tracks off of it, but it seemed like there were a lot more breakdown sections and not as much technical playing, which was what got me into them in the first place. I also frankly liked some of the more politicized lyrics they had with the first CD.

On that note, I was really surprised with Trivium's new release, The Crusade. They're almost adopting an 80's Metallica vibe here, and I can't decide if I like it yet or not.

Really? I felt that the new Unearth had more technical parts than their last one. The breakdowns weren't as numerous.

I too was surprised with Trivium's new CD, at least the songs I have heard. Though I'm uncertain with the Metallica worship or rather cock gobbling going on here.

How ya doing, buddy?

Good pick on the Immortal.
And by that you mean "good job picking out the only decent release."

Anywho, I've been in the mood for some epic funeral doom lately, and thankfully a friend was able to supply me with Wormphlegm's "In An Excruciating Way..." Oh my Lord this is easily the best release I've heard in so long. 32 minutes of literal torture, with a really unique use of "master" and "servant" roles for the vocals. The former is the guttural, low death vocals; the latter is high-pitched, shrieked vocals. The instruments are typical funeral drone guitars and drums, but the use of "tortured moans" and wails are what really make it interesting. You'd almost believe they were real if you didn't know better. Now I just need to get their full-length...
