changing the start point of subtitles?

i have a .srt file that goes to a movie but it's not really in sync. it starts too early. is there a way to change the start time? like delaying the start time of the srt file like 5 seconds so it'll be in sync? thanks for any help.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The Gordian Knot codec package can do that. MeGUI might be able to, but I've had no luck with it. Be sure to check out doom9.org for details on using the software for synching the audio and video!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

There's no need to re-encode the file. VSFilter can apply a delay to subtitles while you're watching the film. Just click the tray icon. If you're not using VSFilter to display your subs, then you should be anyway. For some reason, although the program you install is called VSFilter, the tray icon will show up as "DirectVobSub" on some (all?) systems. The program has changed names a few times.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure that just "VobSub" is an older and outdated version. The packages are related, hence "DirectVobSub" remaining part of the new "VSFilter" package.

You should try it with your version, and if that doesn't work... consider upgrading to a new version, perhaps install CCCP for a complete playback solution.

I was speaking idiomatically.
