Super Robot Taisan US (DS elsewhere): Simply put, as many licences that Atlas gives a care about.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

And most of them move slow. I guess it would be ok if you don't mind not actually seeing what attacks your characters are pulling off, but for most of us, and definitely the target audience, it would be rubbish. Remember it's not like Naruto or DBZ with special fireballs and such; it's a more precision game. As for 2D fighters, Jump and Bleach have already shown that it works well given not many buttons are required.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Move slow? They were moving fine for me. Heck Resident Evil: DS was much faster than the PSone version. It even looks a little better too. Sorry guys. I just don't see what you all see.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
If you are content with Steve and Ling moving as fast as Chris or Jill, then I guess to each his own. I have yet to see a decent full 3D game on the DS which doesn't look jerky when moving at a fast pace (case in point - VJDD). If you compare to PSP's Naruto beat'em up or Tekken DR, I think you'll see the big difference here: lack of hardware oomph!
But trust me Manny, whatever the argument, Tekken would not work for the DS. After Namco slipped up on T4, they would never take the risk anyway. How ya doing, buddy? |
Well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree then. I blame playing Phoenix Wright for this train of thought, but I have yet to see any hard evidence that DS can't do any sort of 3D game right. I think if it's on the low end side of the graphics department, it can acomplish a lot.
To stick to the thread discussion, I would love to see a Shock Troopers style game for the DS! Any form of arcade shoot em ups at least. Would also be intersted to see what they can do with a Metal Slug DS. Imagine fighting a boss airplane that stays in the upper screen while you're dodging a shitload of bullets on the bottom screen, and shooting up at it at the same time! Can get pretty intense! Just gotta remember, not EVERY DS game should utilize the touch screen. IMO though, every DS game SHOULD utilize the dual screens. The possibilities are endless. Just gotta have a good concept. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Whoa! Lord help the DS! How ever will it handle these super graphics! Double Post: Now then - fighting games on the DS? Soul Calibur 1. End of discussion. TRY and convince me that game would be somehow less than stellar. By the way, wifi plz. Also, a port of Snatcher with Phoenix Wright-esque controls and touch-screen gunplay would win uncontrollable amounts of internets. Most amazing jew boots |
I was just playing Black and White not too long ago and thought about the days when Peter Molyneux used to make groundbreaking games. When I was in 7th grade and I don't know if anyone remembers Populous but I played it for the first time back then and became addicted to that game. I used to play it in my computer class, during recess or whenever I was around computers.
Eventually I ended up buying it on the SNES and right about now I'm thinking that it ought to be updated on the DS or at the very least ported over. I'm not sure if Lionhead holds the rights to this in some way but if they do it's time to put the pressure on that limey fuck to return me to the days when being a god in a game actually MEANT something. EA recently decided to port Theme Park to the DS so why not take even more Bullfrog games? They we're all good in my opinion, especially Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper and Magic Carpet. Oh, don't forget Gene Wars. That game was highly underrated.
I'm also waiting for Jagged Alliance 2 DS to finally appear, there's no news from them anymore... hope it's not canned. I would also kill for some decent X-COM ports. I was speaking idiomatically. |
