The fuck? Difference between Norway and Sweden and Denmark? What is this? Does Nintendo consult a demented toddler when it comes to this or what?

It's got the be the most ridiculous move of the entire console war, surpassing Sony's decisions to make PSX game downloads playable only on PSP espite downloading them on your PS3.

I mean the whole appeal of the Virtual Console should be getting to play all these rare EXOTIC games!

And the US doesn't get to play Terranigma? Well shit at least you guys get Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG (despite the latters overated ness)

I'm guessing the VC games will be the first thing to be cracked on the Wii. It's only a matter of months before any Wii can play any VC game I reckon.

The only problem with this reasoning is that, like the PSP, the Wii can have regular firmware updates which would probably fix exploits.

Reggie reveals date for Wii online gaming
Promises more Wii channels, also.
Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed that Wii gamers will be able to play games online from the second quarter of 2007. Reggie's pledge came in an interview with SpikeTV's Game Head show (which saw the Ninty president indulging in some bowling - of both the real-life and Wii variety), where he also let slip that more Wii channels were in the works.

So far, Japan is the only region with a Wii game [Pokémon Battle Revolution - Ed] that can be played online. However, that's set to change in the coming months, with Fils-Aime promising, "The multiplayer is coming. During the Japanese launch, there is Pokémon Battle Revolution, and that's really the first one. There will be titles that we'll be announcing in first quarter 2007, that'll be multiplayer-enabled. So during second quarter 2007, people will be able to have a multiplayer experience on Wii." In further good news for Wii fans, Fils-Aime revealed that Nintendo was hard at work developing more Wii channels, though revealed nothing about what they would involve.
http://palgn.com.au/article.php?titl...121e9ae08608f6

Way to take half a year implementing a feature that should've been right out of the box, and something the other two systems are already doing.

"Oh well that seems a reasonable time. I'm not interested in online play unless Nintendo does it, because they'll do it perfectly."

actual bullshit spouted by the usual fanboys

Well, I finally got a Wii today.

Problem is, Zelda looks like ASS without component cables. It's a fucking blob.

Luckily, I'm going to my dad's house for the winter break, and he doesn't have an HDTV yet, so composite doesn't look nearly as bad. Except, that means it's the same version of Zelda I could play on GCN except motion sensing and mirroring.

Dammit Nintendo, why did you have to fuck up the component cable distribution so bad?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think that maybe Nintendo only has the license to release the VC games where they were originally available, at least when it comes to third party games so no Alien Soldier or Bare Knuckles for us all. As for rare and exotic I would count on it, at least for some time, for example Super Turrican 1 and Super Aleste were probably the best games available on the SNES, but who knows them? I bet it will take a whole load of time for these to show up, if they ever show up.

I'm looking over the list of games that are suppose to be out by the end of the year.. and there are a crap ton missing. I'm looking at IGN and Gamefaqs. What happened to Blazing Angels? Wasn't it suppose to come out tuesday with Far Cry? Just like all systems Wii gets a slow start.. and will hit it's full stride next year. I'm not dissapointed.. i'm still putting about 5 hours on Zelda per night. But after I beat zelda... then we have a problem.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Concerning online, I don't really care much for the delay... that is unless it affects Smash Bros. Brawl!

But yeh, that's right. Nintendo should've gotten it right from the start. Aren't they using a similar online system to the DS? Or doesn't it work that way?

I just got an HDTV for my Wii and everything is great except for the fact that the picture comes out as if it's snowing. This also happens on the cable channels and with my dvd player. I don't have any component cables just yet but I wanted to ask, next week I'll be receiving the component cable for the Wii will this cable make the picture look better? Also if I used component cables for my dvd player and a hdtv tuner for the tv will this problem go away? I got this tv hoping that I would be able to see Zelda and everything else in better quality but it's just not up to par b/c of the snowy look.

How ya doing, buddy?

The shift between composite on the Wii and component was basically the removal of:

-Rainbow shimmers around edges
-Blurry image
-Jagged lines for text/straight lines

I'm not sure what the "snow" looks like, if it's static, it shouldn't be there (probably some kind of electrical interference around the tv?). If it's just some shimmering and blurring, that's normal for composite on a HDTV.

Yeah, I'd guess interference.

Composite just makes the game look like it's projected onto the side of the Blob.

Yeah, couldn't get a Wii at thanksgiving, and haven't posted back in a long time. So yeah, probably going to wait until Christmas when I get back home from college. Might even have an HDTV by then. Since, as of right now, I don't have a television set that is capable of handling anything higher than Composite.

Anyways, it seems that Wii sports seems to be much more fun than previously thought, and Red Steel isn't quite as good as it was thought to be. Excite Truck also seems somewhat shallow. I suppose the best party games lie with Wii Sports and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. Any confirmation on this? Exactly how good/bad is/are Red Steel and/or Excite Truck.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Excite Truck is damn amazing. The multi-player is pretty lacking though, which is a shame, but single player's really where it's at. I didn't really know what to expect when I got the game, other than BIG DAMN TRUCKS. But it's very much fun. It's full of so many "HOLY SHIT" moments. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard peole going "HOLY SHIT" so many times during a gaming session before. It's also easily the best driving/racing game I've played in a long while (actually not really racing since place doesn't count for everything). So much fun. ^^

As for Red Steel, I just got it last week, and I've been pretty addicted to it. I'd say the experience is actually pretty intense. Like any of the other Wii games so far (can't believe I already have 7 games), there's a learning curve, but it's much fun once you get it. I can't wait to get this going on 4-way multiplayer probably this weekend. Should be ridiculous fun! Oh, and sword-fighting! Absolute win.

Well, the region VC release sucks, because that means I'l never get to play Sin & Punishment. Hopefully, Nintendo will realize that they are making a mistake and release the games to every region, whether released there or not.

I got a Wii a while back (after Thanksgiving, so I had a boring Thanksgiving ), and for some strange reason, all I've been playing is Baten Kaitos Origins (I have Zelda TP). Probably because I never got back to playing that and my brother started to. I have to beat it first, considering the fact that its my game...

When the Wii boots up, it will open up to the channels and you simply select the game channel (or whatever its called). I believe the only way to quit though is to shut it off, meaning you have no way to get back to the menu. Not that it really matters. This is from what I can tell anyway, so if I'm wrong, correct me.

No, this is what the Home button is for. Not only can it take you back to the Wii menu, but also to disconnet/connect Wiimotes, and as a pause button at any time.

That's because you were using a SCART cable, if you use a SCART cable with the Wii it will do the same but you won't be able to use progressive scan. Now if you use component cables it's up to the TV to change or not into the AV mode (where you can see your Wii games) since the component standard doesn't support it.

That feature is not Dreamcast-exclusive. In fact, it applies to all consoles or devices connected to the TV with a RGB Scart cable.
