3 hours for the update? That's unusually long. My two updates took merely 20 min.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Turbo: I'd start that thing over again then... last night my update took maybe 5 minutes tops...
There should be no reason for the thing to take three hours for an update. I'd kill it and restart the "update" process again later. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Gotcha. I shall report my findings tomorrow.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Has anyone had any reportable experience with the Virtual Console yet?
Share with me plz. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I think I already know the answer but I ask anyway: Has anyone try to put their Wii disc into a computer DVD-ROM drive to see if it can be read?
Most amazing jew boots |
Just tried it out with Excite Truck with two drives. It can't be read. Looks like Nintendo's doing a good job with propriety again. We'll see how long this lasts.
FELIPE NO |
yeah that is the first thing I tried with Twilight Princess since I have no Wii yet, it does not read.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, it's sort of strange. I tried it with Wii Sports, and my computer says it's a DVD, but it's been unable to show any of its contents. It eventually gave me a blank folder and started calling my DVD burner a CD drive.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
The update caused no problems for me either. I played Raymen, Wii Sports and Zelda after updating twice. It wasn't that slow either. It took like 10 minutes.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Oh, Turbo, did you try to do the system update through the Weather or News Channels? If you do it through that instead of first through the internet connections menu, you'll get stuck there for a long-ass while until it just says the service is not in use.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Friend codes anyone? Here is mine

Do the News and Forecast channels work?
For some reason... my Wii won't connect to the Shop Channel... I get some goofy error "cannot connect to the server" Anyone else getting this? Double Post: PS: I want the Opera browser, where's it at? =( Also, I'll post my friend code soon. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]()

Well, I can't connect to the Shop now. But I was on it last night. The software section showed a pic of Opera but offered nothing to download yet. No Forecast or News either.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |

You should post your friend codes in the poor, neglected Friend Codes Thread.
I'm more excited than ever about the Wii after hearing how it doesn't disappoint. It sucks that I won't get mine until Christmas, but at least I'll be able to hijack my brother's some this week while I'm there for Thanksgiving. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |

A tidbit for everyone who's a My Nintendo member, registering your Wii on the site extends your warranty period an extra 90 days. I'm not particularly worried about it suddenly dying on me, but hey, better safe than sorry.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Actually looking forward to Christmas with all the awesome games on the Wii right now. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I'm actually thanking god for the Aussie Wii launch date. I don't have enough for Wii!!!
Now what to sell? And bloody good, freeloader works with the Wii. I guess I be trying to sell the ol' cube then. DOUBLE POST: Well now that some of you guys have the Wii, how many saves can the Wii's internal memory hold? And has anyone tried SD cards on the Wii (how many saves can you save on your SD card)? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
![]() I don't have the Wii yet, but I'll bogart my little brother's for awhile when I go back to my dad's for Thanksgiving. I plan on getting one of my own after finals are done. I know better than to get one before the semester's over....my grades would plummet. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Fear not, you’ll soon be playing GBA games on the TV with your future crappy DS to TV adapter.
![]() Now sell that Cube, I double dare ya =D No more cube wii GET. Still 17 days to Wii here .__. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Hmm, I suppose I'm the only one underwhelmed by the Wii? I attribute it to the launch games being boring. Messing around with the channels is fun, but other than that, I'm having less fun than I thought I would.

Well now the Nintendo board is quite empty today. SD Card Testing, anyone? How's the multiplayer on Wii? The photo channel? MP3 soundtrack option for Excite Trucks? More impressions, anyone? Hello? *echoes* Have some pity for the rest of us Dec7/8 people. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Here are random thoughts/impressions on Wii:
Played Wii Sports with my friend Jared yesterday. I kicked his ass in bowling. All the games feel pretty good. We played tennis, baseball, bowling, and golf. All felt good and were fun. I think the golf game will work well for golfers, but for non golfers it isn't a blast. Tennis and bowling are great. Really alot of fun. 4 player action would be great. Setting up new controllers to communicate with your Wii is easy. You press the red Sync button on the Wii, and then press the red button on the controller. It is that easy. The Mii channel rocks. It's quite a bit of fun making yourself and playing the sports games. Make sure that you setup your internet connection properly in the setup menu before you go screwing around trying to use the wifi stuff. The interface under the home button works at anytime, and its really great. You can control there what controller is number 1 and 2 and so on. Also settings are there for the Wiimote's volume, which it often seems too loud to me. Zelda kicks ass. The Wii is really worth it. I use a HTPC and after using the Wiimote to navigate the screen and all, when I switch over the mouse/PC, it feels clunky. I literally one time picked up the TV remote and switched from Wii to PC and started pointing with the TV remote like I was expecting something to happen. LOL Jam it back in, in the dark. ~ Ready To Strike ~ :Currently Playing: League Of Legends(PC), Skyrim(PC), Golden Sun: Lost Age(GBA), Twilight Princess(Wii), Portal2(PC), Dragon Warrior II(NES), Metroid Prime 2: Echoes(GC)

For those asking about the channels, I too am disappointed to see that they're not yet functional.
Also on the virtual console, seems that most of them can NOT be played with a gamecube controller. Oh well. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
