burning .avi with nero

I was wondering if anybody could help me out, you see, I'm trying to burn an .avi with Nero burner 6 (as I was told in this thread it would be simple) but I'm not sure what to do.

I want it to play in my stand alone DVD player and not my computer (otherwise I would just make a backup copy), do I need to convert the .avi file into another format before burning or just simply need a plugin?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

You'll need to mention what you're planning on burning to; either a CD or DVD.

I burn off episodes of stuff on CDs as SVCDs for my mum to watch in her DVD player, and it's fairly simple. You'll need the mpeg2 encoding plugin though.

If you're wanting to burn them as a DVD, then it's a little more complicated (or I get the idea it is at least, I've never done it).

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I downloaded Superman Returns and it has 2 .avi parts, I would like to put both parts together on a DVD disc but at the same time allowing it to play in my DVD player rather than just making a backup copy.

I'm not even 100% sure this can be done but I'd like to know.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You'll probably need something like DVD Santa to get them to play on your dvd player.

I'd do that way but I dont need to since my DVD player can play xvid/divx.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It's ok, I've figured out how to do it now, thanks to the guys over at Scoremania.

I was speaking idiomatically.
