New threads error

I don't really know how to explain this in english, but I'll try. On the old forums, threads with new replies since your last visit would be higlighted in bold. After reading it, and going back to the subforum, it wouldn't be highlighted anymore. But now with the forum reboot, it doesn't do this anymore. Every thread with new replies stays highlighted, even after I read it already. Since I have a horrible short-term memory, I hardly remember if I've read a thread already or not. Is there anything that can be done to fix this on my side, or is it just something general?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It seems to be working fine for me. Are you sure your cookies are configured properly?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you're hitting the back button on your browser, then the thread is still highlighted, but if you click on a link that takes you back to the forums you were in, it will not be bolded, just like you're used to.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall.

Yeah, the forums used to be set up to where it would automatically refresh the page even if you hit the back button. This functionality has been removed. (I believe I remember it being about 50/50 on whether people thought that was a good feature the last time the discussion came up about it.)

"Add No-Cache HTTP Headers" is currently set to "no". I believe adding them would direct your browser not to cache the page, thus requesting a fresh copy from the server each time.

You might have noticed that, after using quick reply and going to another page, then using the 'back' function, your new post doesn't show up. This is because quick reply uses Javascript to dynamically append your new post to the page, which doesn't update the browser cache.

Solution: just hit reload.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Thanks, I know how to do it now (didn't notice that it did happen if you click on the link back to the forums).

I'll close this one.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
