The survivors would have never found them on the island that THEY reside on.

A while ago when the first season started, I saw a map of the island(s). On the map, the producers had written a small note pointing to a side, small island where it mentioned Danielle's daughter residing.

I don't really care for it, though. I mean, its nothing THAT profound. O WOW, THE OTHERS ARE CAMPED OUT ON AN ISLAND. Thats exactly what I would have done. At least now, we can figure out why there was a cable runnign through the beach which Sayid found in season 1.

Quote:
The thing that struck me more was when Jack realized he was there to save someone. It gives a reason as to why they were keeping Jack under special treatment and not making him do the same seemingly pointless physical labour that Sawyer and Kate are subjected to.
In this week's promo, they mentioned they needed Sawyer, too. Its "the only reason {he} isn't dead." I imagine they have a purpose for Kate as well.

Funny thing: Did anyone pick up on the fact that the blonde doctor who is working with Jack is a fertility doctor?

Quote:
An shit, man, that trailer for next episode... ooooo they'd better deliver.
You KNOW they won't.

Spoiler:
This week's episode will be Eko-centric. I have a feeling it will be Eko who dies. They say it won't be Sawyer, so.

man, who's the creepy dude in the screen. I want more Lost. NOW!!!
God, you sound like me when I first started watching. You get used to the teasing and the need to have patience really quickly.

To answer your question (BIG SPOILER):
Spoiler:
It's a new character, late 40's. A formidable man, tough, a real survivor. A real sense of charisma and danger. Possibly recurring.

So I am reading also that Nikki and Pauolo are just "guest starring." "Guest starring are Kiele Sanchez as Nikki, Rodrigo Santoro as Paulo." They damned well BETTER be guest starring. What a SHITTY WAY to introduce 2 new islanders.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Also, Ethan wouldn't have been able to drag a heavily pregnant woman and a fully grown man through the jungle with apparent ease.

Um how do these points relate to what I said? My point was that something as big as another island would have been noticed already. Its IMPOSSIBLE for them not to have seen it yet. The points you pointed out are merely unbelieveable situations, not impossible. Hiding an entire island from over 40 people stranded on an island that they have walked the perimeter of countless times is IMPOSSIBLE, not improbable. Dont lay into someones post unless you have something that actually makes sense.

Ok, i knew that. I guess it's just another one of those cases where i'm the only one who doesn't think it's that big of a deal.

Hey that's a interesting thought. I had forgotten about that.

Also, does anyone remember in Claire's flash backs of when she was with the Others how Ethan was all doctory? I wonder if he's the same deal as Juliet, another Fertility Doctor, or maybe a pre-natal specialist or something. They really seem to like kids. First Danielle, then Claire, i bet Sun's next.

Yeah, i only started watching the show last year. I got a copy of Season 1 on DVD, and basically watched it all in two weeks. My dad knows a guy who's been taping each episode, so he fried us up a DVD of season 2. I've been watching them sans comercials, and basically one after the other. I have yet to develop patience.

Well, if they're gonna be killing someone off, they're gonna need to start introudcing some more regulars. But i guess this is a good thing, in that they can actually indrocduce them properly when they actually do.

I just came up with a theory pertaining to the "Hydra Island":

Spoiler:
There's only one island. When Ben shows Sawyer the "main island" he's full of shit - They're merely looking at the back of the island on which they're already standing, creating a kind of "closed universe" effect.

"God can't see this island..." - Ben Linus. Hiding an entire island from the rest of the world seems pretty impossible to me, so why couldn't the smaller island be hidden (or, alternatively, why can't my theory apply)?

And wait, so now plane crashes curing cripples and evil black smoke eating people aren't impossible situations? I'm lost. Explain.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Something that i just remembered.

A friend of mine pointed this theory out to me, and it seems like something they might use.

Spoiler:
Magnets have an effect on water. The magnet could be repelling the water from the island, creating a sort of bowl in the ocean. This makes it impossible for Desmond to sail out from it. At the same time, nobody would be able to see the island from ocean level, because it would just look like straight water.

Now when the magnet was shut down (or whatever Desmond did down there) the water leveled off, and parts of the island were submerged again, like say the part connecting the two Islands.

I dunno, i sorta started to realize all the holes in this as i was typing it. If this proved true then

Spoiler:
i'm pretty sure more than just that bit of the island would be under water, and i'm pretty sure that they would notice the lack of horizon.

Also, did anyone catch what Zeke (do we have a real name for him yet?) was saying when they were about to "operate" on Sawyer.

Something to the effect of "After the sky went purple, we've had no communications, and i can't get them back online."

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

"I understand the audience missing some of those other dynamics, but the story is dictating right now that we're looking at the story more from The Others' perspective than our original survivors' perspective,"

Tonight's episode really needs to pull through.

I mean, all of the episodes have been really good thus far (in my opinion), but the third season has yet to have any sort of definitive direction on where things are heading.

I really hope that the next two episodes do just that, and the previews for tonight make it seem like this will happen.

Am I the only one who isn't too excited about tonight? I think I know who will die tonight and Jack having to operate on Ben is no shock.

Spoiler:
My guess is Eko is going to get the axe. And also, I hear Ben gives Jack a kind of ultimatum when Jack gets confrontational about operating on Ben.

Jack is left to take the ultimatum, from what I hear, out of lack of any other options.

I REALLY hope tonight's episode pays off a little bit.

Sassafrass:

Spoiler:
I agree that it is more than likely going to be Eko. But I'm the type of person that reads the end of the book first and goes back to the beginning to see how they get there. I'm more interested on how he dies.

I hope that the way he goes out gives the character dignity, because I'm kind of upset that they pretty much killed all of the tail section besides Bernard...and who knows if he will end up dying one day. Eko is a HUGE fan favorite, probably up there with Locke. They better handle this correctly.

Besides, it might not be Eko at all (for some reason I keep thinking it's Sayid, because what more of his flashback is left?), but it more than likely will be.

Also, what happens in the Pearl station is obviously going to be huge, so I'm looking forward to what occurs there(they've probably shown everything in the preview), but I'm more interested in the gang's reaction.

I've got to say I'm getting pretty sick of this show. I had downloaded the first two seasons and was totally blown away. This 3rd season has been a big dissapointment so far. It just seems that NOTHING big has happeneded. Every episode makes it look like the next one is going to be awesome, and the next one comes, and the cycle repeats. Tonights ep is an example of that. They hyped it up like woah, and then just leave you hanging for next week, never providing any real answers.

No shit, right? How could we have forgotten Eko's little run-in with it in S2?

So. What can we gather, here? That ALL of the hallucinations on the islands of peoples' past were actually all the appearance of the monster?

Why did the black smoke react so poorly when Eko spoke to it "as though it was his brother." ???

Also, they're next? Meaning Locke, Sayid, and the two fuckheads? Or EVERYONE who survived?

I saw next week's preview and the last 4 seconds of it nearly brought me to tears.
Spoiler:
If they kill Sawyer, I swear I won't watch the show anymore.

Spoiler:
I also hear that next week, Kate "picks" between Saywer and Jack - with some intimacy involved. I think the preview pretty much tells us who that would be - OBVIOUS CHOICE. I HOPE. You never know. ;_;

Also, whats up with Blondie trying to convince Jack to kill Ben in surgery. The fuck.

If the monster is able to copy the appearance of other people, what is it?

I can't say that I didn't see Eko's death coming, but the monster reacting negatively to his speech didn't seem to really mesh. I'm guessing that the monster wasn't liking what he was hearing.

I really enjoyed that whole scene where Juliet was talking to Jack while Jack was watching her hold up the cards in the video. I was like, "Heeey, finally, some intrigue!"
