Your Fav arranged videogame track!
i've been thinking, how about giving our favourite arranged videogame tracks??
Tell the game, the title, and the album(specially for the FF tracks, which have several different albums with the same songs), and why you like it. Mine should be Final Fantasy IX - You are not alone, Tour de Japon Music From Final Fantasy I always loved this theme, it was used at and important plot point in FFIX, and as the title suggest its used when the main character is feeling awful, and dont want to exist. The friends start appear making him feel better. Opinions please!! ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
For me it would have to be Theme of RENA from the Star Ocean the Second Story Arranged Album. I find it very powerful and moving. It doesn't deviate too much from the original tune, and in this case, that's a very good thing. It focuses on what made the theme work in the first place and increases the effectiveness tenfold. The result is a track that is compelling from beginning to end. Beautiful, elegant, and sincere are the best words I can think of to describe it.
There's nowhere I can't reach.

My tastes in music change as often as a change my underwear, but for now Battle VS Lord Blazer from Wild Arms Music the Best -rocking heart- is my pick.
The changes flow from the opening to the synth jazz in the body of the song while managing to feel fast paced throughout just sealed the deal for me, and separated it from the rest of the tracks on the album. Still, all of Ryo Yonemitsu's work was excellent, hell, and so were the rest of the tracks on the album. Honestly, if you like rock arrangement and you like Michiko Naruke and you haven't downloaded/bought this yet, you're missing out. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
That's funny...My favorite fluctuates all of the time, but I'd say the arrangement of "Battle vs Liz and Ard" from that same album has held the championship belt for me over the past couple weeks. Hard in some spots, downright wacky in others (and often both at the same time) it's a prime example of how to arrange an old classic and add enough to make it a totally new experience. This arrange seriously and completely floored me, as I wasn't expecting so much could be down with the quirky and fun, but straight-forward original.

I'm screaming for vengenace... I'm shouting at the devil... I'm not dead and I'm not for sale... Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time... |
And yes, Battle vs Liz and Ard is also a nice song, wasn't on my list of favorites but I like the fact that someone tried something unique, since most of the stuff on there stuck to tried and true rock elements. Funny thing is, I've played all of the Wild Arms games but the 2nd one and I have no idea what either of those 2 songs actually are in-game. I was speaking idiomatically. |
This has got to be about the hardest VGM-themed question I can think of.
![]() I'm tempted to say the Tales of Phantasia OST "Fighting of the Spirit" arrange version, but probably not. I like the "First Step Towards Wars" arrange on the Ys 2 Perfect Collection album too. I think my favourites would be Sorcerian Falcom though. "Cave II" from the Sorcerian Super Arrange Volume 1 album also springs to mind, as does most tracks on Super Arrange 1 and Perfect Collection 2. Both those CD's are gold (except a few tracks). Finally, there's about a zillion good Chrono Trigger arranges. Undersea Palace and Zeal have some incredible arranges as does To Far Away Times. If you want more exposure to good VGM, play some SNES RPG's. Easy solved ![]() - Spike What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Right now I'm addicted to "Balto", a track from Xenogears: Creid by Mitsuda. Just so damn amazing! I'm regretting that I ever underrated Mitsuda, he's brilliant arranger indeed!
My other picks would be: -Fisherman Horizon from Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec. A very amazing orchestration done by Hamaguchi. This song is melodiously beautiful, the SATB arrangement makes it even more amazing. -Dragon Quest Seven Fantasies by Patrick Trickwaters. The only piano suite that deserves to be listened by all Sugiyama's fans who also been disappointed by the ever-crappy Dragon Quest piano albums. This one is an amazing arrangment of Dragon Quest 4 theme into 7 movement of virtuostic piano suite. This suite is equal to Ravel's Tombeau de Couperin. -Monoply ~String Quartet Music~ (APCG-4035). A very amazing 6 movement suite from monopoly game performed in String Quartet. This is one is my everlasting favorite. I especially love the playful "03 Let's Have Fun" which has a lot pizzicato. Well, I probably have a lot more to mention, but I guess that's it for now ![]() FELIPE NO

Maybe i'm biased, but anyway
- Last Battle arranged by The Black Mages from FFIII OST. - From Dracula Battle Perfect Selection, track 2, Bloody Tears - Dracula Battle Perfect Selection II, tracks 1,2 and 4 (Beginning, Theme of Simon and Den, respectfully) Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() ---------------{ Currently playing }-- ... Best arranged VG song, huh?
Why, the Star Fox Main Theme, from the soundtrack,of course. It's simply one of the best tracks I've ever heard. Why don't you listen to it? I don't know if this counts as arranged, but I also love Black Mages version of "Still More Fighting" from FFVII. It is an even better rendition of the original theme. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()
