Aside from that 9 goal game in Phoenix, the Wings just haven't been able to score. Hopefully they can get some good offense together, because the defense should be keeping them in games.

Well, after that Buccaneer victory along with the Lightnings win over the Flyers earlier in the week, Tampa Bay > Philly at the moment.

Again, not to completely detract from the discusision at hand here, just like to point that out. Carry on.

Fuck your football team. Saying you beat the Flyers is like saying you beat a retarded kid at chess.

How ya doing, buddy?

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

Thank god they've split up Spezza and Heatly, they were leaning on each other too much. I think 8-1 is enough of a sign that the move was effective.

I wonder if having a new coach and GM will help the Flyers any... I doubt it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Ryan Malone kicked someone's ass after breaking his forearm in a check. How hardcore is that.

True, but they stopped putting them together all the time, they've switched up the lines so they weren't always playing together. Before, they were just playing with each other, they weren't really using the rest of their line and they were getting very little results from the play, so Murray had them switched for a bit. Maybe it was mostly for their practice, but whatevery they did clearly worked.

I thought they were keeping Spezza and Heatley together and bouncing Alfredsson around. At least that's what I thought i'd been seeing on the bits of Sens games I catch on Center Ice.

Also any teams want John Grahame? We'll take 3 hot dogs for him. That's 2 less than Garth Snow's going rate.

Alfie's been moving around for a while now, started at the end of the last season.

This is kinda off the current topic but is alyone a Calgary fan? I haven't seen much of them play this year but from what I saw when they played us was that Kiprusoff looked amazing.

Finally getting a damn win in St. Pete Times Forum felt pretty damn good while we're on the subject of wounds. Before last week, we hadn't won in your building since like 2003.

Too bad we're really not gaining much momentum.

Is he definitely past his prime now? If so, the Red Wings might be willing to overpay for him when Hasek goes down.

Did he ever really have a prime?

I really hate to have such a bad view toward him because he is a Hurricane and I try to support everyone on our team, but he has just not played well in his appearances for us thus far.

The whole team has really not played at the level they can so i'm trying to give him time, but ugh it's just frustrating.

Yeah, Carolina has struggled surprisingly so far. I expect them to get things together soon, though.

Also, I was taking a look through the Red Wings schedule to see what's coming up, and I noticed Christmas week, they play three consecutive games with Minnesota. Whoo, gotta love the weird scheduling quirks the NHL has now.

It was finally nice to take home a win in the Forum this year, and even better that our offense finally decided to get their shit together. I haven't been able to see all but 2 games this year due to work, but from what I've been hearing, its the about the same problems as last season; Overpaid offense being inconsistant and the goaltending not being overly fantastic to compensate. I can really only hope that we get things going, as all 4 lines contributed well the other day against Washinton (though, it was only the Caps).

As per the Flyers, even though I do have a strong dislike for Philly, I do feel bad for them to a degree after all the years of futility, but after the 2002 NFC Title game between the Bucs and Eagles, an Eagles fan called into a radio show featuring Buccaneers WR Joe Jurivicious and asked how his son was. His son, who was born very prematurely and died a bit later that year as I recall. That left a lasting impression on me, even though I don't like to generalize.

Yes, Grahame never had a prime as I recall. He was too inconsistant to ever have a prime. Too bad though, he was a nice guy in the bay area here as I recall. But wow, did he just suck it up here. But, to be fair, our offense last year was pretty much what he was -- inconsistant.

There is no doubt Philly fans are some of the worst scum on the Earth. Not only do they boo like retards, but they are mean as shit just like you said in that example.

I for one am glad that the Flyers are doing so bad this year. Not just because of the rivalry, but also because of their asshole fans.

Most of their fans are dicks, but personally I'm just glad they suck because I don't like DragoonKain. That guy is a fucking douchebag.

TheKnightOfNee, what do you think of Osgood being the starter more often than Hasek?

I wonder how it would change things.

Though they're both past their prime, I'd rather have a washed-up Vezina/Hart/Stanley Cup winner than a washed up nobody.

You mean as opposed to a washed-up Jennings/two-time Stanley Cup winner?

I'm just poking fact at the fact that Hasek keeps getting injured, and hasn't exactly left Detroit in the best ways the past couple times he's been here. Odds are, he'll suddenly have to stop playing for some random reason.

I don't think either goaltender is as good as they were before, but I still think both are pretty good. I've probably always had more faith in Osgood than most people have. When Legace went down for a bit last year, he did a well enough job being the number one goaltender. Hasek is also still a good goaltender.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Montreal fans weren't any better 3 days ago when they booed Brisebois and Theo. Brisebois helped this team the most he could in his entire career and was willing to take risk to score a goal, something most players don't have the balls to do. He also just gave 50 000$ to Ste-Justine's hospital and he still got booed. What a lack of respect. And yes he's my favorite player so I'm biased.

As for Théo, he destroyed the Bruins by himself in that 2003-2004 post-season serie and everybody treated him as a hero.

Point: Montreal fans are hypocrite motherfuckers whom I hate, and I'm ashamed to even consider myself as one.

The Jennings is much more a product of the team a goalie plays for than it is of the goalie himself.

I'm sorry to only be talking about the Penguins in this thread, but god damn was that game amazing. It may just be me being spoiled by seeing so many of the games live, but the Pens have to be the most exciting team in hockey.

Tonight, for example, The Pens had a 18, 19, and 20 year rold player score a goal. Plus, that 20 year old (Evgeni) made an absolutely [i]spectacular[i] move off of an equally incredible pass from Crosby. Just wow. Good times.
