[PS2] Final Fantasy XII

I think the panelo scene with the orcs is on youtube but I didn't know that any scenes were being cut, the dancing scene does look awsome but I dont mind it being cut.

Panelo isn't all that pretty, in fact, I think she's ugly in my opinion and could be left out of the story and it would really make no difference :/

I think this is the first time i've played a rpg where the main character is not needed. Vaan had no input in the story whatsoever..ohyeah his brother got killed,bohooo..so what? And Basch having a twin brother was pretty lame 2,they destroyed the possibility of having SOMEONE complicated in your own team..but wait there was one!!! = FRAN who left the forest !!!(that's it?....................sigh*), Panelo equals vaan meaning NOT NEEDED. Who's next? Bah,worst characters in the ff series (yes FFX-2 was even better!).

Really, urgh...i'm glad this game got leaked.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Thats the trouble with a Matsuno story in a FF game that is NOT tactics, tactics is able to have such a story where characters take a backseat cause your characters are like soldies, expendable, especially in terms of character development.

It doesn't work on a normal FF game cause characters as just as important as the plot. You are stuck with those 6 or 7 of them for the entire time, they HAVE to interact somewhat.

Dunno how Vagrant story worked, but probably cause he didn't have that many characters to juggle with.

And thanks for informing me on the ratings issue with Penelo... Still think they overeacted though.

I still like to see the Penelo FMV, just for the sake of I dunno, fleshing out her character more? I mean if it werent for that promo poster and the new FF12 DS game trailer, who would know she's a dancer?

well i'm not sure if the quickening are a unique moves for each character but I was able to get her dancing a little on the evanescence move :/

Well her biography does state she is a very talented dancer. Maybe Square removed that FMV because it is going to be in the DS game? Just a guess...

Definitley. It seems with each line released Koto's skills improve with FFXII so far looking to be their best in terms of sculpting and the paint job. I've been slowly getting the stuff they've released thus far but I'm making sure to preorder and get the whole set of FFXII.

My only problem with Koto is that never seem to finish a line they start. Advent Children for example only saw Cloud, Vincent, Tifa and Sephiroth but the line could of easily been continued to feature Barret, Cid, Reno & Rude or even Kadaj. Likewise for FFVIII which has so far only seen 3 characters. I'd love to see those expanded along with FFXII so then we'd get Basch, Penelo, Fran or even some more of the Judges!

Moving on, the FFXII OST is now available in the US without having to import. Tofu Records is publishing but like the FFX one that was brought over it's more of a "Best Selection" than the complete 4CD OST that contains the following tracks:

Oh and she holds katanas/2h swords the best.

PS: There are only 6 playable characters in the game. All of them gain LP(and 2x lp with the golden amulet), but only the main 3 fighters gain XP. Which is why my Vaan is sittin pretty at level 8, but has a nearly mastered license board if i have to switch to him for something.

Penelo is my favorite character =3 Followed by Fran, who knows no shame(just how i like my viera anyway), and Ashe, who is imported from FF13.

Just to show the possible contrast in customization:
I use mainly Vaan, Basch, and Penelo.

Vaan (Swords) - I use him as a jack-of-all trades. Stealing mostly, but since I directly control him the most, I also do some buffs and debuffs through him.

Basch (Swords) - tank, heavy damage dealer

Penelo (Bow) - healer, constant "protect" buffer

Not really because I want to play the game (it honestly looks like it won't be fun. I'm not even going to lie), but because it comes in a shiny tin can. The likelyhood of me actually ever playing this are next to none, but at least it'll look good on the shelf.

True, i hope next time he stays the fuck away from final fantasy, but that won't be a problem since he's OUT.

Why? This is the best FF12 i've played, even storywise. FFX was a great game, so was FFX-2. But those were mainly about the characters, not the world, which were much more interesting. Now we have a FF with a world more interesting and a story more about it.

It's not like the characters are ignored.

Ashe, who is from FF13(i will never stop saying that) has quite a bit to deal with later in the game. Some of the characters themselves are just badtacular awesome. Balthier comes to mind, all the judges, Dr. Cid. They're just presented so well that i end up liking them as a character. And unlike tidus, it's not at the end of the game that i start to care for them.

My only complaint is the lack of playable moogles why, SE, why? God the moogles are SO CUTE

Have they charged your CC for it? That's the reason I ask as some have been saying their CC has been charged by EB/GameStop for the game and dated for 10/23 which almost sounds like they're shipping the game early....:eyebrow:

I just dont like the idea that some characters were created as party member add ons, and not as characters that will get development. All of them should have equal development, not just half of the party. And Vayne is the main villian, and he didnt get much either.

They are not ALL ignored, but some were, and thats' not a good balanced story IMO. Why bother creating Vaan or Penelo if nothing much happens with them? Penelo barely has many lines, and her uniqueness was her dancing, and that was cut out with no replacement.

Yeah, I do get the feeling through the game that Vaan and Penelo have essentially no story. At all. At least, up to where I am at the 40-hour mark.

And that's weird, because the main character is essentially Vaan.

I've seen some vids on Youtube of people fighting Gilgamesh in a few different places for weapons and armor. What's really cool is most of the weapons he has in his many hands are old FF swords (such as the Brotherhood [FF10], the Buster Sword [FF7], and the Gunblade [FF8]. I've heard he drops the Masamune, but does he also drop any of the FF swords? That would be really kool.

Nah. But it's also notable that he has a replica of the sword of Roto (DQIII) and we can get it in the gameplay, though he doesn't drop it (indeed, strictly speaking, he doesn't drop Masamune. It's Montblanc who gives us Masamune after we beat him).

Great voice acting and story line,I am loving it. The gameplay,realtime battle is also much better than old iterations. My only complain is about graphics. Played only a bit but textures at places are really bad,even badder than FFVIIoC.
The Desert stage was good in the beginning.They could ghave done better job,considering its form SquareEnix.

Hey guys I just have a question for those that have beaten or about 20 hours in it about an enemy

Is there anyway to beat the elementals? Especially in the storm giza planes and the desert? Perhaps reflect then cast spells on it? Their spells always take off so much
