The Stingray that killed Steve Irwin was no accident!

STINGRAYS ON THE ATTACK!!

Quote:
MIAMI, Florida (Reuters) -- A leaping stingray stabbed an 81-year-old Florida boater in the chest, authorities said Wednesday, leaving its poisonous stinger lodged close to his heart in an incident recalling the one that killed Australian TV naturalist Steve Irwin last month.

Fire Department officials in Lighthouse Point, about 30 miles north of Miami, said James Bertakis was in a small recreational boat with two grandchildren Tuesday when the spotted eagle ray leaped aboard and struck him.

"It's just a real freak thing," Lt. Mike Sullivan told Reuters, saying the incident occurred on Florida's Intracoastal Waterway, where stingrays are rarely seen leaping in the air.

"For an 81-year-old man he's in really good shape," Sullivan added, saying Bertakis was expected to make a full recovery after surgery at a local hospital to have the stinger removed from his chest.

"Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, 44, died when a stingray's stinger punctured his heart off Australia's north coast last month. It was one of only a handful of stingray fatalities on record.
"It's just a real freak thing,"
Oh yeah? To happen TWICE in two months and to be stabbed in the same areas of the body isn't some "freak thing"!.

Officials say stingrays don't normally leap into boats, as one did in Florida Tuesday.
Taking out the Crocodile Hunter has made the Stingray population a brave one.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Next they'll get organized and attempt an invasion! And PETA will be torn in half!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

So it's even more of a freak occurance for this to happen twice in a couple months. Five deaths on record in the modern history of the developed world would seem to me to make this quite unusual.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Forget killer bees and poisonous snakes from moving throughout all of America, stingrays are going to take over our country! I'm gonna start building my stingray shelter right now!

How ya doing, buddy?

Definitely looks like the stingrays have been plotting for quite some time now. I'm glad I don't live close to the ocean.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Piff, this Stingray's a mere copycat "killer", and a bad one at that.

The original 'Ray took out the crocodile hunter, THE FREAKIN' CROCODILE HUNTER! This one tried (and failed) to off an 81 year old man in "good shape". Not impressed.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hmmm.... Something freaky is definitely going on. Obviously, there isn't a connection. But I think people are starting to see that these creatures are a lot more dangerous than originally thought.

I can't believe it couldn't kill and 81 year old, but could kill a 44 year old. Must have missed the heart with the former.

According to a news report I heard on the subject, they attributed it to the fact that he did not remove the stinger after the strike, giving surgeons the opprotuinity to remove it safley. Thats not to say Steve Irwin died because he pulled it out immedeately, but it does make you appreciate just how fine the line is between getting killed and living through such an attack.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Are you kidding?! They are probably already secretly running the show a PETA! It's all part of a master plan for stingrays to become the dominant species on the planet!

Stuff like this is just going to give idiots more of an excuse to randomly kill off stingrays now.

We may as well continue warming the oceans, cause after all, according to Troy McClure, it's "Man vs. Nature, the Road to Victory"

There's nowhere I can't reach.
