Anyway, usually demo videos aren't worth judging the final game by, since A) they usually use an old build (for example, RE4 uses the E3 trailers for their demos), or B) the compression strips the little knicks and knacks of the final design. Well, all I want to know is what time does the Sony Gamer show thing starts next week. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |

Spat, the point of those being posted is that THAT is what your first generation PS3 stuff is going to look like for the most part. It's not going to be worlds above what the 360 is doing right now. Slayer would have you believing something else though.
Metal Sphere, thanks for the impressions. Considering your eye for detail and technical knowledge, impressions coming from you are worth 10 times that coming from most others. A shame some of those other games weren't playable. That would be have nice to try those. Can't say I'm too surprised at the issues you mentioned, however. I am curious though, would they really use such an old build to show the games and hardware off at this stage of the game? You'd think that they would use the latest code possible. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the final product looked like. Still, interesting. I'm still considering getting one of these things at launch, but my local EB said they were getting only 2 units in at launch. And knowing us, probably about 20 people will be lined up this sunday night to take the preorders. We'll see if I even bother. FELIPE NO |
Oh, controller impressions:
Sticks = Smooth, very responsive, may be a little too much for some. Still the same material as before I believe, wonder why they're not indented though. Triggers = They're shaped like buttons (enlarged L2/R2), but they definitely feel like triggers. Nice tactile response, though if it was indented slightly may prevent the inevitable finger slipping complaints the sticks get. D-Pad: Didn't use it in either Resistance nor NBA '07. One thing to remember to try when I go back tommorow. Rumble-less: Not noticeable. When you haven't actually played the games, the feature seems idiotic to drop. But when you're actually playing, you couldn't care less. The complaints about "how will you know when you get hit" are bunk. The games let you know, clearly and from what direction you're being attacked. Would the feature immerse you more if it was present? Yes, but it's not the mountain people are making this mole hill out to be. Quality: I abused this thing as much as I could without it being overtly obvious. Squeezing the controller hard, making drastic movements with the sticks, crushing down triggers. None of the telltale signs of shitty QC (shifting plastic, squeeks, buttons loosening/sticking). It's lighter, but it doesn't feel cheaply made from a cursory examination. This may change by the last day of the convention after it's seen a lot of action. It was connected to the PS3 with the USB to mini-USB charge cable, which was surprisingly thick/hefty.

It's official, auctions for the PS3 are getting shut down.... For the next 7 days. Apparently you can't sell pre-order stuff over 30 days in advance, so, by this time next week, they'll be back on there. Kind of ruthless, but whatever. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Colonel Skills: Perhaps I am leaning a bit more to the Sony side of things. Hell I'll admitt it. However you can't really blame me when I like fighting, role playing, and music games the most. All of which are at their best on the Sony consoles, so it ain't my fault that the competition can't touch that.
Next is I'm not THAT much of a fanboy. As you know I have a 360, and have played almost EVERY non-sports game on the dang thing too. So I know what I'm talking about. As for thoes quotes of mine... thoes were totally taken out of context once again. And finally I have a right to my opinion so why do you need to cut me all to hell. If you think I'm a fanboy, you shouls be smart enough to figure out that you can't change a fanboy's mind so why try? Or do you like running into brick walls too? P.S. Also you are right, Full Auto 2 doesn't look much better then the 1st on the 360. However the 360 one ran like ass and was unplayable... ain't my fault. MetalSphere: Good to hear that you had an enjoyful and informative time at the show today. Too bad to hear some bad news on a couple of games. Though the Lair clipping wasn't that surprising after seeing a dragon run through some other trailer in a demo at TGS. Then again MotorStorm and Lair also arn't launch titles so who knows what else they're still planning on doing before release. EDIT: Lair looked pretty good at TGS (minus that clipping); http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...pe=wmv&pl=game Motor Storm looked pretty good here too; http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...pe=wmv&pl=game So do these videos look similar, better or worse then what you saw at TGS Metal Sphere. It's just so I can get an idea as to what they look like up close. *This post has not been spell checked* There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Does anyone know if I can preorder Wii and PS3 at the same time at EBgames?

It's the Sony thread not the Xbox thread, what do you expect? Hell people in the Nintendo and Xbox threads bash the PS3 all the time. It's about time someone returned fire.
Anyhow this isn't the X-box thread hence I'm not going to talk a lot about X-box. I'm as sure as hell going to compare it to the PS3, but when I want to talk about X-box and X-box related things I take that to the appropriate thread. EDIT: A lot of the "PS3" Oblivion shots are just recycled shots of the 360 version. If you want confirmed shots of the PS3 version you're going to have to look in this month's issue of PSM. For example IGN; PS3 Shots: http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/702/702492/imgs_1.html 360 Shots: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/7...3/imgs_10.html They've even got the same date on the shots for god's sake. Eh, I stopped caring about the need to compare consoles (since it's beyond pointless) back with the Mega Drive and SNES. Oh well whatever, carry awwwwn!

I'm just saying why the hell are people always focusing on me. Why the hell don't you guys ever say anything to anyone else? I go to all three console threads, but you don't see me saying anything thoes who bash either of the other two consoles. Are you telling me that I should? Or should we all role dice to see who gets to be the lucky one to get told each day?

Man, lemme see if I can explain how internet forums work. You're getting picked on because people rip apart senseless fanboy statements. Ask BZ, he gets just as much flak for the silly things he says. Same goes for Grub.
But why you're getting picked on is not the issue. This is derailment by this point and we should drop it. Sphere: Neat pics once again, but man, why pick Fantavision of all things to show off. Some serious lol right there. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I honestly don't know what those are....I'd thought you'd stick your PS1/2 memory cards there? Also: ![]() No luv for PS1 ;___; I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() - What we all do best - |

From left to right: CompactFlash, SD/miniSD cards, and Memory Stick Pro/Pro Duo slots.
You've probably seen these in cameras before. The MS Pro Duos are also used in PSPs. Photos of each: CF: ![]() SD: ![]() Basically looks like a DS game. MS Pro: ![]() How ya doing, buddy? |

![]() So, the 60gb PS3 is bigger than the 20gb one? Jam it back in, in the dark. |

That doesn't make all that much sense. Why would it be bigger?
I think that's just perspective dude. How ya doing, buddy? |
