Really Inhert? That kind of ruins my plans. I was going to pass by the EB Games in Montreal tomorrow to pre-order a system so that I could re-sell it on eBay. I might end up waiting in line to buy one the day of release at the local Walmart or something - I really want to re-sell one or two on eBay.

well I don't know if it's for all Canada, at least that's what the eb games close to me said, actualy they still don't even know how many console they'll get... and that they will not accept pre-order because of the limited supply...

Here's some choice quotes from Ted Price's blog. He's the CEO of Insomniac, developer of the Spyro and Ratchet games along with Resistance: Fall of Man.

Quote:
I suppose that what I can tell you is that we’ve been working on both Ratchet & Clank and Resistance concurrently. Hopefully we’ll be able to show you new stuff in a few months. I can also say that Ratchet environments and characters look absolutely beautiful on the PS3.
Fantasic news for all you R&C fans out there.

Quote:
If you're playing co-op on widescreen the screen will be split vertically (players are side by side). If you're playing co-op on a 4:3 TV the screen will be split horizontally (player 1 is on top, player 2 is on the bottom). Your guess was exactly right.
Finally, split-screen done right.

Quote:
We will be supporting headsets. But we won't be supporting mouse and keyboard. The reason we're not supporting mouse and keyboard is that the SP game would have to be tuned completely differently for those playing with mouse & keyboard and the MP game would end up unbalanced between those using the two separate control schemes.
Quote:
Why doesn’t Sony buy Insomniac?

A) We're not interested in selling, B) they're probably not interested in buying and C) if it ain't broke, don't fix it! ... there is a lot of trust between the two companies - we definitely have an "old school" way of doing business together and it works well.

Hmmmmm... I'm in Ontario myself so it may or may not be different for me. I think it's time for me to get my dective badge from the dollar store and my bright lamp out of the storage and start going around grilling people for info, heh heh.

EDIT:
Sony has always worked with companies like this for years and it seems to have paid off in the past generations. Unlike M$ who buys every company that makes a good game, and Nintendo who doesn't offer any first party support to third party developers.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I'll attempt to preorder one tomorrow... Nothin' to do in the morning, so I'll likely hang out around the mall before opening and scope it out. If it's just ridiculous, then well... yeah.

Just want to let you know that I got the official word myself; I called my Gamestop tonight, and they confirmed that pre-orders will start first thing tommorow. My store will be getting in 16 pre-orders. Being a small part of FL, he doesn't think there will be a big line or anything beforehand, as he states that very few people know of the pre-orders. Also, you do have to specify which version you want, so I'll be putting my money down for the $500 model. Wish me luck (or rather, my sister).

I just confirmed the rumor with my manager at Gamestop - $100 for a PS3 on 10/10. Good luck.

Vancouver, B.C here
They say they will NOT be taking preorder this week.
One store says you need to trade in games for that.
The other just says place deposit or something.
Anyway, wtf =(

I am currently looking for a non-eb alternative in Canada which will gurantee a system.

Eventually but not tomorrow. 10/10 seems it'll be the first and only day for in-store preorders given the supply and demand so I'm wondering how they're going to make online preorders work if units are so limited.

No kidding, I thought the Xbox 360 launch was "bad" (as in for the consumers), I might actually want to drop by a mall on November 17th JUST to see people running in and out and probably see how long the line ups are, with all the faces of whomever not getting their hands on a PS3.
Then I might do the same for the 19th, cause I've got not much else to do with my time ^___^.

Come to Montreal on the 16th and you can camp out at the local Best Buy with my friend and I as we wait for the PS3. Then watch us sell them on eBay for mad profit. Cha Ching.

Pay for my airfare? Do we get to play with the merchandise before we 2nd hand sell it? .

Hell! I might go the 16th and see how the line ups are like in my city. I really don't know, but I don't think I've seen with my own eyes a line up that was more than a few hours in advance in my life. I don't think I'd ever do that, actually. Staying in line more than even 30 minutes gets me on my nerves, think of how I'd be the next morning. LET ME IN LET ME IN!

Maybe Hantei is interested too, LOL.

It's funny how the guy working at my gamestop tried to play dumb at first. Then after talking to him a bit he said "Oh.... so you got the email huh?" He wouldn't tell me how many the store is gonna be getting though. I live in a small town so I wouldn't expect more than 7. I plan on getting there a few hours early tomorrow morning with a friend to wait for the opening so we can get our name first on the list. I just hope I don't show up 3 hours before they open to find a line of 10 people. >.<

LOL, I work at a game store too and I have yet to have a day without assholes. Yo all you pre-bookers out there the real secret is to be nice to the person that's helping you otherwise they'll shaft you to the back of the line (or at least I would). Also don't talk too much, because you come off as a know it all.

Alright I'll stop there before I get into a bottled up rant ^^;

My college town is filled with friggin idiots, so I doubt any of them know about tomorrow. I'm banking on being able to go after my class around 2:00 PM. I will likely end up calling beforehand just to make sure so I don't waste a trip.

Same here. Except I get out at Noon, Mwahahaha... lol

Does anyone have an idea how much EB/GameStop gives for games? (based on age & system). Even a ballpark would help me organize my stuff that I want to trade in.

Thanks ^^

I didn't mean that they don't at all, I just meant in comparison. Sony works with Insomniac, Atlas, Capcom, Square, Nippon-Ichi Soft, Konami and Namco. Where Obviously everybody is trying to kiss Ubisofts ass right now because they make solid marketable products which is key to releases of new systems. But how many companies does Nintendo really work closely with?

Well, I'm in NYC, so I'm in a unique situation. There's 3 EBGames/Gamestops around where I live, so hopefully no one will BS me about preorders and I can get it done.

I say this because my parents just agreed to preorder 10 $500 PS3s units to sell on Ebay. So, wish me luck.

Where I live, there are 5 EB/GS stores in the same city, with two being within an hour's drive. With a total of seven stores in the nearby area, there will be approximately 80 PS3s available for pre-order, because a few of the stores are getting 16 instead of 8.
