Thermo Sensor With the two definitions side by side it should be obvious, by now, what it is. Instead of pressing something, you touch the sensor with your finger and your body heat turns it on. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |
It can be argued whether the thermo-sensor is needed or not. However every analog component in a device is more likely to break then a digital one. In other words at the store that I work at we get at least one 360 a week that the owner has broken the power button on it due to tripping over it, hitting it with something that they shouldn't have or some other randomly stupid event.
I like the comparison that a guy at PSM gave in last month's issue. "Sure the PS3 is expensive, sure there's cheaper solutions. However if you think about the car industry the PS3 would be like a porsche of the gaming market. Yes it's expensive, and yes it can do a LOT of cool stuff. Do you think that other people drive cheapper cars because they think that they're better then a Porsche? No, it's because that's all that they can afford. However if you can afford a PS3, it may cost a lot, but you're going to get more value for your money then you would with the lesser expensive solutions." I couldn't have described it better myself. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
You can argue with someone else, since I've seen the way these things go and they're of no benefit to the thread. FELIPE NO ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |

How ya doing, buddy? ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even. |
God damn it people. Thermosensors are not that expensive. Products like the i-pod and many other things use these instead of a buttons all the time. There's nothing to argue. They cost $3 and are of no signifigance to anything other then the fact the PS3 has one. There's no reason to argue over this trivial point. If you want to argue over something then argue why the 360's HD-DVD player costs $250 CAD for a system that you already paid $500 for.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
An even better option would be to keep the thread on track about PS3 and its games and not argue over totally pointless stuff such as a thermosensor or how much Xbox 360 stuff costs!
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
My point was just simply that people are arguing over how a thermosensor may cost $2 more then a button, when there's bigger things to complain about that actually matter. Or at least to a higher extent.
But yes, let's try to keep the argument to a minimum from now on.... keyword "try". MetalSphere: This is wat happens when you make ground breaking posts, lol. Keep up the good work ^^ Chairman Kaga: You wern't the only one that I was targeting with that post. It was directed to other, more serious people who were focusing on a matter that... well just didn't matter. As for the overheating, what system doesn't overheat under improper conditions? (like TGS) At least the PS3 doesn't sound like it's going to have as many problems as the 360 or PSTwo. On the other hand, we're basing our opinions on other people's biased opinions, which is not good for data accuracy. So let's keep the speculation to a minimum too. ^^; I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Regarding the overheating issue at TGS. A friend went the game show, but didn't say anything about it. But that's not to say it's not true. I was speaking idiomatically. |

I don't even know about that. Both GameSpot and IGN have complimented as to how smooth the PS3 games ran, even the ones that don't release until like Q2 '07. They both said that they never experianced any slowdowns at any time during TGS. GameTrailers said the same thing on their weekly report too.

With all this in mind, it's easy to see those who are intentionally spreading FUD. --- Anyway, it looks like we'll get online details the 19th, after that news from RadiOPM basically confirms its existance. As for that Wipeout news being true, I doubt it, but you never now. It's from the same person who took those PS3 shots so it's just something to keep an eye on. Hey, I know you guys already talked about this a while ago, but up to 7 controllers on one console? I thought the pictures of the controllers only showed the option for 4, with a light indicating what player you are?
Are there only 4 lights because they believe this will be the standard? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Good point, however Sony has said time and time again that it can go up to 7 BlueTooth components (i.e. 7 controllers) if the developers make a game that actually supports 7 players. In other words we're going to have to wait and see. If it's said at all before the system comes out it will be at the Sony conference Oct 19th.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Maybe it starts lighting up 2 lights if you're player 5, 6 or 7

Reason: Automerged additional post.

Man that's a LOT of stuff. It's going to take me a bit to get through all that. However, thanks for the great finds

No problem, I was just surprised how far this thread slipped down. It's probably because edit/automerge doesn't function as a regular post. Another interesting thing to note, is that OPM (U.S. OPM), has the review copy of Resistance and confirms 1080p native.

I really hope Resistence delivers as something beyond a decent FPS or a mere Halo clone. I'm placing bets on making it my premiere launch title, and there will be problems if it ends up mediocre. Motorstorm looks fun, but I really don't want a racing game to be my first experience with a next-gen system. And Oblivion is guaranteed to be good, but it's just a port that probably will look no better than the 360 version.
I want my first game with a new system to be something to show off, visually. But it has to be fun to play, too. I'm not exactly confident that an FPS can do that either (since your player is always invisible, due to the camera view), but with Heavenly Sword and Lair delayed, Sonic reportedly another disaster, and Genji 2 looking like a PS2.5 game, then everything rides on Resistence for now. Sony probably came to the same conclusion, thus all the marketing toward it. FELIPE NO |
Wow, that childish booty call video was some biased bullshit.
I'll never touch anything 'Gamesradar' again. I should thank you.
Other than its obvious stunning visuals, it looks like a ton of fun! Vehicles rummaging all around in chaotic frenzy, smashing to bits, while struggling towards the finishline. Hell, I could see myself buying two copies. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
New info on White Knight Story from the headhoncho of Level 5, Akihiro Hino. This man's statement at the end rings true, it's no wonder why L5 is so damn good with someone like this at the helm.

Oh, here's what the Japanese PS3 model comes with in the box: Scroll down a bit and you'll see it.
Edit: Well, the AV cable thing's been clarified. It's the typical Playstation cable with the proprietary plug at one end, but at the other end it has all those connections (Stereo A/V Composite, Component, D-Terminal, Multi-Terminal). In the U.S. we'll probably just get a version of this with only composite and component at the connection end. 1 Controller 1 USB cable (probably the charging cable) 1 Stereo AV cable (This is confusing since it lists a ton of other stuff. Are they all on the end of the same cable, all you German folk?) 1 Lan/Ethernet cable 1 Power cord This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() The text is part of the image and the two squires aren't exactly even.

Wow, lots of stuff!
Avanent: lol, that's ok. MetalSphere: You should also post that White Knight Story infor in it's thread in the RPG area. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
