2 DVD-RW instead of 1 DVD-RW/1 DVD-ROM?

Hi!

I got a problem that my DVD-ROM keeps vibrating a little all the time even though I keep having it checked up on all the time. It's random so I was wondering is there any disadvantages in putting a 2nd DVD-RW drive in to replace it? They are both the same model. Thanks!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No, there will be no issues.

....except remembering which drive to select in your burning program of course.

As long as you have the space in your computer, it should be fine. Make sure your PSU has enough wattage to handle an extra DVD drive (It requires very little power, so I don't see this as a major problem).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Two burners is always better than one burner and one reader. You'll never use one of them, but the convenience of being able to beats all, I hear.

I use 2 burners for a specific reason

My NEC drive (ND-4570A) is great for CDs and DVD burning, but my Pioneer (DVR-111D) does produces lower error levels with DVD media than my NEC but the Pioneer drive sucks with CD media. Plus the Pioneer drive has much better DVD error correction than my NEC dive. In all I have had no problems running them both.

Isn't it pointless to get a second burner that does the same thing as your initial one? Unless of course the second one is newer and would serve as a nice replacement for your older one. But other than that, you really only need one burner. The other slot can be occupied by a regular CD/DVD-ROM.

Otherwise, there really aren't any problems to having 2 burners. It just seems rather pointless and ridiculous.
