There seems to be a downgrader for 2.71, but I'm too scared to try it out incase it screws up my PSP. Is there any news of a SNES emulator being made or works for 2.71 ?

I just pray to God that the emulator will be cracked and allow us to load our own ISO's.
I think there are some widespread misconceptions about Sony's upcoming "PS1 emulator" for the PSP. It's going to be a select few games (probably with altered controls) available through some massively DRM'd online store only. I could imagine each game coming with their individual emulation code embedded and ecrypted in EBOOT-format, so cracking the thing and playing PS1 ISOs will be impossible (much like Bleemcast).

I thought I'd share this before people get their hopes up too high. I don't even understand how anyone would want to play old PS1 games on their PSPs, anyway. Sony should much rather focus on getting Gran Turismo Mobile out already, if you ask me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Okay holy crap MGS Digital Graphic Novel oozes style. I was hoping the voice overs would be included but the sound and music that are present are outta this world. All the KA-BOOMS and BUDDAH BUDDAHs just rock. I can't believe how entertaining this was to watch. I demand Snake Eater DGN. NOW.

Has anyone played Ghost in the Shell that would recommend it? I know it didn't get the hottest reviews but I am interested in trying it out. The only place that seems to have it at the moment is The Sony Store for $49. I know if Microplay had it, it would likely sell for $39. Still a little pricey considering I don't know what to expect really. I haven't seen a used copy anywhere.

How ya doing, buddy?

I know, that "Digital Graphic Novel" was great. I loved going though each frame to see the hidden detail.

In other news, Bounty Hounds is pretty damn cool. I've been told it's like a portable Phantasy Star Online (I never played PSO), and it feels like if you mixed Dynasty Warriors with Monster Hunter. The interface is very polished, and the graphics have a nice smoothed look to them, instead of being as harsh and pixelated as other PSP games.

I've only played a bit so far, but it seems to be worth it if you can find it.

ALSO IN HOMEBREW NEWS:

gpsp emulator (gameboy ADVANCE!) is about the greatest thing ever. It's still a bit buggy, but a ton of GBA games run at fullspeed with none or 1 frameskip. Some games are incompatible at the moment, but I played Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Kurukurukururin, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Warioware just fine.

I was speaking idiomatically.

If you compare it to Coded Arms, then it's better. At least, it's a better FPS than Coded Arms is. The voices from the anime are present in full form, and visually it's nice to look at. Of course, you're really only buying this game because you're a fan of the series. If not, look elsewhere. It's not bad, but it doesn't do anything HOLY WOW AWESOME.

Any fans of fighting games should defenitly check out Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection! It has some of the best graphics on the PSP, and hardly noticable load times. The gameplay is just about intact EXCEPT for the horrid PSP pad. Diagnol inputs can be a pain in the ass. Either way, I imported the game, and fighting games on handheld just don't get any better than this. (well not yet at least) It's also a good game to just pick up and play on the go.

TDR really does look beautiful on the PSP!

The only downsides is that the Dpad is a bit hard to play with as stated
and playing others in Infrastructure can lag at times (Not terrible, but
there is a very small amount of delay when compared side by side).

Great game though, just wish there was an easier way of finding and
challenging people besides knowing someone with a psp and/or game.

Thanks SouthJag, I haven't played Coded Arms but I'll keep my interest in GITS. Hopefully EB or Microplay will get a copy in the future. Incidentally, I've been meaning to buy Stand Alone Complex for PS2. I think I saw it at EB for 20-25 bucks.

In other unrelated news I saw a gamecube Sonic compilation that actually included Sonic CD at EB the other night. I was nearly floored when I saw this. I had no idea this had been released. Shockingly I didn't buy it, I picked up MGS DGN instead. But I will buy it. Oh, I will.

I always get the two confused, but does "infrastructure" mean online play, or just local PSP to PSP?

I would totally pick this game up if it were playable online, but if it's only person to person, I don't think it would be worth it.

if i'm correct ad-hoc mode is PSP to PSP and Infrastructure is Online...

Anyway about Coded arms...I saw the ps3 trailer that they gonna make, and I really loved it!, I really like the design of that game and all. What I want to know is if coded arms on PSP is any good and if it look like that trailer. I know that was a ps3 trailer XD, I mean if it's in the same design (you know like a digital world)

Coded Arms in itself is a pretty decent game. The levels are set up, if I remember right, randomly, and you just do the basic stuff: scour the map, go to every room, shoot stuff. The only thing I didn't like was the somewhat lack of ammo, especially in the second phase of the game.

Damn, you're so right it hurts. I thought it was going to be just the official emulator and then we could load whatever ISO we wanted.

However, it isn't that bad, I believe only the most famous games will be ported so as long as I can play MGS on my PSP I'm fine with it.

I just bought another PSP today and selling my other one that was a 2.7 firmware. The one I have now is 2.1 I think, and I want to play Valkirie Profile on it, and that requires me to have to update it to 2.6. I also wanna be able to play snes and some other roms on it. So what am I to do? Is there any hacks that will let me play games like Valkyrie Profile without me having to update my PSP? And are there emulators that will work good on a 2.1 firmware psp?

And if I use a downgrader so I can downgrade to 1.5 will I still be able to update it in the future? And will the downgrader mess with any of the interface?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

SONS OF LIBERTY DIGITAL GRAPHIC NOVEL

Quote:
New Metal Gear for PSP
Konami planning digital comic sequel based off Sons of Liberty.
by IGN Staff

September 20, 2006 - Have you checked out Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel for the PSP? Reaction to the digital comic based on the original Metal Gear Solid was apparently good enough that PSP owners can now look forward to a sequel.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima announced that work is underway on a new digital comic for the PSP. This one is based on Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. As with the original, the game will feature artwork from Ashley Wood.

Sons of Liberty had Raiden as the main character. In the digital comic, Snake will appear just as much as his unloved counterpart.

Release plans (and even an official name, for that matter) have yet to be announced for this second Metal Gear digital comic.
With this, I really hope Konami decide to release a Snake Eater and even eventually Guns of Patriots DGN. In the meantime I'm really looking forward to the next DGN. I expect this to rock just as much as the first one did.

How ya doing, buddy?

It's sad, because I don't think that the first one is ever going to be released in Europe. Thankfully I bought it when I visited the States. I'm looking forward to yet more Metal Gear Solid.

The first one was just released in Europe on Friday, I picked it up yesterday and it's great. I was half expecting another "Silent Hill Experience" but this is so much better. Can't wait for Sons of Liberty DGN.

Anyone seen the new Portable Ops trailer? I'm looking forward to it now more than I am MGS4.

Yes indeed, Portable Ops sounds like it's turning out to be a damn fine game. I think I remember seeing a November launch but I don't recall.

Also, I'm not sure if I should be ashamed or not to admit this, but Crisis Core has me intrigued. From the few details of the game so far it sounds actually very promising. I know I'll be keeping my eye on future details that emerge. Game is due out sometime in spring 2007 and later in the year for a North American release.

After browsing IGN and such about TGS coverage it seems there are a few interesting projects in the works for PSP and some more RPGs announced.

MPO trailer was awesome. That game alone makes me wish I had money to buy a PSP!
Voice acting is superb, but I recall seeing speech bubbles in the GC'06 trailer. Anyone know if voice acting will be heard throughout the game or only certain scenes?

I'm lookin forward to this game more than MGS4 too. Let's face it, Big Boss is just more badass than Solid Snake will ever be. :P
