Using the disc tray with PS2 flip-tops

I got a flip top for my PS2 to play imports a few months ago. Is there any way to mod the flip top so that I can use the disc tray too? I would like for the tray to be able to open for when I play PSX games so I can change the settings for it and for PSX games that are multi disc and don't let you save between discs.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Er, where did you get yours? Every flip-top I've seen has a slot that allows the tray to open at any time.

I'm not sure about modifying the one you have besides like a hammer and chisel, but a "ghetto" technique you could use to fix the problem is to hit the open button and then shut it really quickly.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I got mine from modmonster.com. If I try to open the disc tray, it'll come out about a half inch and stop.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Could always pop it open and take a glance. Might be a screw that's too long or some part in the way.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yep. You should be able to use the tray, with a fliptop. If you cannot, then it's either a bad fliptop, or you have installation issues.

How ya doing, buddy?

it would be a rip off if u were to get a flip top without the access to the tray. I only use the top for backup and import games and use the tray regularly as always.
