I liked the movie. There really is only one way to describe a movie like this, and that is a very long Twilight Zone episode. Yes, it is cheesy. Yes, it can be boring. And yes, pretty much all the complaints the critics have said are accurate. However, as long as you just let it all go and allow yourself to care about what is occuring on screen, then you'll be ok and more than likely will enjoy the movie. With that being said, the ending is terrible. It just ends and leaves you hanging. I also can't recommend seeing it in the theaters. Wait for the DVD. It'll be a solid rental. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Any movie with a trailer featuring a little girl whispering as the cheesy narrorator/advertiser = teh fail.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
So I saw this movie Saturday night. I didn't want to even sit through the whole thing, but I never walk away from a movie. Have to see the whole thing.
Spoiler:
The plot was so choppy and retarded, it almost hurt. I found myself wincing at most parts of the movie. Some of the methods to retrieve messages were so absurdly hysterical, I found myself laughing out loud during some parts, and found that I could hardly keep my mouth shut in the theatre. I don't think I was alone, either. This movie had virtually no depth, no planning, and no entertainment in it. It had POTENTIAL, but fuck all mighty, it was shit. I would NOT recommend it at ALL. I myself am disappointed I paid money to see it. I should have waited. Thanks for disappointing me, Shyamalan. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I wish I found this thread earlier because I literally JUST got back from watching it. The characters were so cheesy--had little to no development. The beginning was completely dull, dull enough that it put me to sleep for around 30 minutes. I woke up towards the end and caught a little bit of the thrill (which lasted around 2-3mins) and then the movie abruptly ends.
I wouldn't recommend it either. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I loved trailer 1, it was very calm and emotional with some opera song playing in the background. Does anyone know the artist en title of that song btw? :-D
http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/lad...ater/trailer1/ Choose Large, because HD doesn't work, it just directs you to trailer 2 and 3 on the apple site. Double Post: Oh and by the way, EVERY movie shyamalan made after The Sixth Sense was pure and utter crap. So I don't really know why people keep hoping he'll make something good... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I had thought it was going to be some half-depressing, half-hopeful romantic story. Plus, that song was (and still is) incredible. It's Mi Mancherai sung by Josh Groban. FELIPE NO |
Great! Thanks! I thought I'd never find it :-D
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ok, so I don't see how anyone could put the word "narf" into a serious movie. After the aquabitch muttered it in her sleep all I could think of for the rest of the movie was "What are we going to do tonight, Brain?"
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
sorry to bump an old thread XD
but am i the only one who liked this movie? I just finish watching it and even if there are better movie, I think it's the best movie M. Night Shyamalan did in all his carrier. Really for me all the other one were really pretty bad, but even if I really didn't like most of his movie, there was still something about them. I can put my finger on it, but there's something that make me watch his movie. this movie really intrigue me, I always that it could be a good movie from the trailers, but the name M. Night Shyamalan was always making me pass it. So tonight I decide to download it, because I wanted to watch a movie that I didn't already seen and I decide to give it a try and I'm pretty please about it ^^ I really liked the bedroom story, it had something "magical" or something. In was a good movie to watch, will probably not see it a second time but I think M. Night Shyamalan deserve some credit just for this one ^^ There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
To be honest, I liked it as well.
I went into it expected something worse than The Village because of all of the negative reviews this movie has had. But I got something much better than that, so I was pleased that I didn't waste my time. The movie is a little constricted though. It almost feels like that Seinfeld episode "The Chinese Restaurant" because there's only that one setting in the entire film. Still, it wasn't a bad movie at all. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I actually just watched the movie yesterday. Definitely not up to Shyamalan's good movies (The Sixth Sense, The Signs) but not as bad as The Village either.
Felt as if I as the audience was being ridiculed by someone telling me, an adult, a bedtime story that feel's like it's made on the fly. I could've accepted at least some kind of a red line in the "this is it! ...no this is it!... wait, this is it, I know" plot "changes", but no. Shyamalan needs to find himself better scripts. He's got a really unique mood to his movies that really goes to waste into sequential crap like this. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Shyamalan is like the J.K. Rowling of flim. I'm convinced that Lady is actually Shyamalan's take on a comedy. However bad the movie technically was, a part of me still enjoyed it.

Better than I thought it would be (after being completely turned away by The Village), but I still thought it was pretty lacking. His movies are... different, so it's not so bad since he definitely won't be cliche, but I think anyone can make movies like that if they just write whatever they want to write. I guess what I'm trying to say is that his storytelling isn't polished; he tries too hard. At least it was slightly better than The Village.
