Looking at amount of the game rips scattered in GFF and also amount the effort of people to do inline recording, ripping, and tagging of game rips, I think there should be a game rip of the year or similar award to credit the rippers. I think this is good idea and also to encourage game music rippers that people appreciate what they have done.

Well that's simply the purpose I creating this thread, I would like to know how you guys see this idea. Maybe we could use the similar voting procedure to vote the game rip like Gaming force soundtrack of the year.

Game Rip of the Year award as in the best soundtrack that was ripped? Or the best job of ripping a soundtrack? Why not name a best ripper of the year? Or do the GFF awards at the end of the year have such a distinction?

Awarding the rips themselves is pretty silly I think.

The whole idea is plain stupid. Nobody gives credits to rippers anyway, what makes you think people would actually bother downloading all the rips that come out during a year, listen to each and every one of them, rate them, review etc.?

People might as well just download one rip from one ripper. Take that times the amount of people downloading that same rip and also consider that the rip might be popular. That rip will most likely win. But does it win because the music is popular, or because the quality is of a high standard and alot of effort has been put into releasing the rip?

Bottom line is, rippers don't get enough credit as is, they never will get it and the whole idea is idiotic because there's no way to properly rate and appreciate the value of a good rip. There's too many things to take into account, and when people have problems thanking you for the rip, they will have an even bigger problem with downloading all the music let alone rate it.

Don't let a handful of people convince you your idea is stupid, eriol. I think this is a fine idea. It doesn't have to be a credit to a ripper for their technical quality or choice of games. Why don't we just vote on what was the best quality game rip of the year, musically speaking? It's no different than voting for the best album of the year.

There's an amazing amount of game rips to pick from nowadays, thanks to GFF's seemingless limitless energy in producing them. Let's make a big deal about it.

And that's exactly what I've been trying to say, that's just not possible. Think of how many rips are released on a monthly basis. There's an overproduction already and people don't bother listening to most of it. Having people vote for a gamerip means that they have to download it and listen to all the music contained within that rip, something that most people are more than unwilling to do, or so it seems.

I haven't got an answer out of him, probably because I crapflooded his inbox with sheet music requests (THIS IS A JOKE I HAVE TO MAKE A DISCLAIMER WHEN I USE SARCASM BECAUSE I'M SO SMOOTH); I'm assuming he will since he worked on 5/8 of Insomniac's games, and he practically lives in their back yard.
