I heard the new single from this album (forgot the name of the song, but I saw the video on YouTube, they were wearing masks for the first half of the video). I didn't like the song, but that's not to say I won't like the rest of the album. Absolution had a few clunkers but it also had some real gold.
The same thing happened to me with Absolution. Even the good songs, after a short while, became monotonous to listen to.

I just listened to this album, and I doubt I'll do it again. Same thing. Maybe it's just me, but after a while I didn't even notice songs ending and new ones starting. I stopped paying attention and it just became background music. I wouldnt be able to name a single song, or be able to tell you what it sounded like. Overrated =/

Absolution did sound all the same to me the first few times I listened to it. Then I really listened to it, and each developed it's own personality, so to speak.

Since they made a comment that they're heading towards a more Progressive sound, it makes sense that their later albums are starting to unify. That's okay by me, but maybe it's because I'm used to listening to things that 'all sound the same' (ie: classical music) >_>...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's always best to give an album more than one listen to develop an opinion. Some of my all-time favorite albums were like what you described, I thought they were shit the first time I heard them. The ironic thing is that I've found if an album clicks with you the first time you hear it, you're going to get tired of it quickly. If an album takes, say, five times to click, then it's a keeper. If it takes more than five times, then it just sucks.

Perfect example: I thought Thrice - Vheissu was the greatest album of all time the first couple of times I heard it, then around the sixth or seventh time, I never wanted to hear it again. Everyone kept praising The Illusion Of Safety as the best Thrice album, so I bought it. Hated it the first time, but then it grew on me, and I'm still not sick of that album. It is now my favorite Thrice album and beats out Vheissu by a longshot.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Am I the only one reminded of the Gorillaz when listening to Supermassive Black Hole?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Probably, everyone else seems to think Prince or Britney Spears.

My parents thought Prince immediately when I played the SMBH video on TV. My mom said she liked it, though, whereas she normally doesn't like Prince .

Haha, it's cool, the song's way better than either of those (actually right up there as one of my favourite songs right now). The simple drum beat and the vocal style in places are what gives me the WS vibe though. "I thought I was a fool for no-oneeee," that bit in particular.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just bought the album today, so far it's been a bit difficult to fully get into it. The other ones for me, I got into them almost instantly. I do like most of the songs on this album, I am glad it doesn't sound like something they have done before.

I will need to keep listening to this album until I finally enjoy it completely.

Some of the songs true beauty on the album do take more than a couple of times of listening to it to be fully appreciated. I've probably said this loads of times but for me "Invincible" was the one that didn't strike me as good on the first few listens but it grew on me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Completely understandable, I am more into the second half of the album than the first. Something about the first few songs just don't strike me as to great to hear, but as always I will probably need to listen to them more. Invincible to me was a great song, I liked the closing parts to that song.

I am listening to this album again now, and finally thinking to myself..."Wow, this is kicking a lot of ass" then again, I am in the perfect mood for the music.

Lemme ask you Living Legend, when you bought the album, was it in a Digipak with the Concert DVD and the music CD? Just wondering, because I haven't bought it yet.

There was this rabid fan on the Loveline call. It was pretty funny, "Man, your vocal harmonies on Knights of Cydonia made me pee my pants." That was gold. I didn't hear the clitoris part... I skipped around because the total length was 2 hours. =\

Double Post:
Oh nevermind, found it. It was pretty funny but at the same time sad.

I so wanted to see a video of that interview, I could tell there were some serious sniggering going on =p.

And Knights of Cydonia is definetly one of my favourite music videos ever, at last they're starting to get it RIGHT with their videos. Muse videos are usually shite but thank god they didn't fuck up this one.

I reckon it's because they may have listened to their fans for this one. I know that when the track was first played that people were going on about it involving horses and lasers somehow.

Waaaaay before they started recording the album Matt was saying how the song sounded like riding a horse through mexico and being shot down by bandits, so I think the idea of horses and the dessert were there in the early days. The lasers and the sci-finess probably all came in later when they stook that intro in their for the hell of it =p.

They just announced they're coming back to Belfast. I'll be getting my ticket on Friday when they go on sale. Plus, they're playing pretty much the biggest venue in Northern Ireland. Can't wait till 4th November now!

Loveline?

Gah, Dr. Drew keeps having musicians I like on (Ville Valo from HIM was a surprise). I don't really understand why he does that, because he should know that 34984 squealing fangirls will call and say inane things to the singer/band. At least, that's how it was with Valo (and it made me kinda sick).

I'm downloading the Muse one, so I'll see.

Hell, you don't really have to worry about the people phoning in, it's the presenter that's awful! He's basically whacking himself off when he's speaking to them!

When the DJ was showing off the Muse medley he made, I know we had a problem here. But who could resist, seriously?

Just watched the KoC vid. Man, that was gold.
