SIGNED LUNAR UPDATE.
Well, it seems I have found out why Working Designs went under. Vic takes forever to do anything for anyone who wants to give him money! It's been 2 weeks since that auction closed and I haven't seen an email from him since that night. I also haven't seen the item or gotten any confirmation of anything. So I opened a paypal dispute. Man, it's depressing when you have to open such a thing with one of your favorite game writers. =\ This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Wait what? What happened between you and Vic?

I guess Victor Ireland was the seller, and he hasn't received any response to his winning bid. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I bought a signed copy of Lunar 2 that he was selling on eBay, after a fair bit of email correspondance on the night of the sale, he has not since replied to any of the emails I've sent him.
I've asked for nothing but a simple confirmation from him that the item was shipped, or that he's even recieved the paypal payment. All I did was try to determine what was going on with the transaction, and he has not responded at all. So here I am out about 190 canuck bucks with nothing to show for it, and I'm unable to get ahold of him. So I had to open a paypal dispute. As much as I like Vic, I also like my money. So I don't want to just throw it away, see. Edit: What Generic said, basically. Yeah. Most amazing jew boots |
Update:
It seems opening a dispute was the trick needed to get Vic to respond. He apologized and is sending a bonus, a sealed Lunar SSSC demo disc. A nice thing for him to do. I have the shipping tracking number now, and it's being shipped EMS so with luck i'll be here by Friday. (*excited*) FELIPE NO |
He should've SIGNED IT TOO >8U Nice that he kept up with it. Figured he'd have a lot of free time since WD went under... =p
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.
![]() |
Well, I told him to sign it. So if it arrives and it's not signed I'm going to throw a large fit.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Meant the demo =D Should've signed it as well. Extrabux~
There's nowhere I can't reach.
Hey, maybe you should try that thing Chie was talking about.

Turns out I have to buy a new copy of Lunar 2. I finished the first and started playing the second game today. A few years ago my niece got into my gaming collection and trashed a few of them. Lunar 2 was one of the games she scratched up. Anyway, the game runs fine until the part right before Lucia gets zapped and loses her abilities. Then it crashes.
My copy is officially ruined. ;___; This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Why don't you go get the scratches buffed out? If there's a Game Crazy near you, I know they fix discs up for two bucks or something.
Sure as shit'd be cheaper than buying the game again. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Game Crazy? I've never seen one before in my life. I don't think they exist anywhere near me. Maybe I can see if GameStop can do it.
Most amazing jew boots |
Well, if you have a Hollywood Video in your area, you most likely have a Game Crazy as well, as that's just what they call their video game section now. It usually has its own section separate from the store, but still inside the store, if that makes any sense.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Heh, getting scratches buffed out rarely works unless the scratch is extremely superficial. In my entire life I've had....maybe 3 or 4 discs ruined by various people, and resurfacing has NEVER worked. So not a LOT of experience with it but enough to make me believe it
ll hardly work. Hopefully it will for you though Miles. Also, shit, yeah Gech, you're right. Damn. Shoulda thought of that. FELIPE NO |
Are you talking about a cleaning with one of those huge, professional disc cleaners, or with one of those dinky hand-cranked buffers? Because the forme will usually take out some of the worst scratches and scars you'll ever see.

Maybe I'm just slow, but I'm having trouble understanding this.
The Ebay item is still sealed, correct? It wasn't signed before it was sealed... He is just signing the outside wrap? How ya doing, buddy? ![]() so they may learn the glorious craft of acting from the dear leader |
the PSX Lunar games released in the U.S come in a Collectors Box type dealio, so i don't think it will be that big of a deal to sign it.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
What Iwata said. New and sealed for a Lunar game doesn't mean plastic wrap. It's sealed with a sort of stickery/tape thing (see: DQ8 box). It's the actual case he's signing.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
God I should really play EB. I mean I played maybe an hour or two and for some reason my friend and I never continued. Everyone says it's so much better than SSSC and I really, really liked SSSC.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Well heck, if you liked the first game, there's no reason at all to hold out on the second. It's basically SSSC except every single thing is better.
That eBay business with Vic just brings into sharper focus the unpleasant fact that brought down Working Designs. I don't think they really respected their fans as much as they claimed. If they really cared, they wouldn't have procrastinated as much as they were known to do. His priorities are really whacked out, something that doesn't seem to have changed one bit. Incidentally, I don't think Victor Ireland has that much free time; he's working for Microsoft now! I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
I agree wholeheartedly with you, MK. It's been an eyeopener for sure, and to be honest, it's changed my view of him somewhat. I used to think that WD bit it because they were too niche and took too much time on their projects, but now it seems like they did because they just didn't give a shit.
I'll admit, it's annoyed me to the point that I almost regret buying the damn thing. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Hey, if he can work on a game as good as either Lunars then I'd buy a 360. That's better than completely disappearing from the videogame business all together.

So it came today. The thing looks fantastic and the signature is also VERY nice.
I lack a camera though, so I can't take pics. However, I DO have a scanner, so that's what you're going to get instead. Here is what the signature looks like: (Click the image for a higher res version) ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
So did you give him any feedback? :3
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Item arrived late but in impeccable condition and had a decent bonus, and the shipping was fast and pretty rad, so I left him positive with some BS comment about how he was a good seller.
I just don't feel like dragging up shit after this all ended up fine and dandy. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm a big anime game collector so the first games that were definetely added to my collection were Lunar: Silver Star Story and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue and I have to admit I enjoyed both of the games even though they were cliche rpg's in a sense.
I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying the games when they were first released for the sega CD, which is something I would eventually like to enjoy because I'm aware of the many differences between the sega cd version to the psx version. I really enjoyed these game because they have a lot of standard rpg elements and a good intriguing story. One of the things that I think the lunar series had is a lot of fun factor and a lot of jokes throughout the entire story. A lot of rpg's try to mix humor with its story but I feel that the Lunar series is one of those rpg's that does it fairly well. Personally, I enjoyed the Silver Star Story more than what I did with Eternal Blue. I liked the characters more even though the story was not as detailed as what it was in Eternal Blue, I liked how the story was carried out and I enjoyed the interaction toward all the main characters in the Silver Star Story. I even liked the villians more in the Silver Star Story. I thought the evil sisters and Magic Emperor were much better than the villians of Eternal Blue. I think if its one thing that The Lunar series did that makes it one of my favourite rpg series of all time is the fact that it has voice outakes at the end of each game, and i personally think that aspect alone puts a lot of fun factor into those games. I always laugh when it comes to Ghaleon's voice messing up his lines, because he is not afraid to swear due to his own frustration. Lunar 2 in itself was not a bad game at all, and I enjoyed all the references it had toward the original lunar game, but above anything else ruby was definetely more annoying than nall. Anyway, I'll be playing Lunar: Dragon song within the near future and even though I heard a lot of bad things about it, I'll try to enjoy it to the best of my ability because I like to form my own opinion of the games that I play instead of listening to other people. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
