New Video Card and NEW problems..

I finally get the a new video card and after 1 day i'm having problems. Here are my specs first..

P4 2.0 ghz
1.50gb of ram
Windows XP Pro SP1
AGPX4
Ati Radeon X 1600 pro

I was going to get the other 512 ATI but this one was marked down 50 bucks which made it the same price as the other. It seems I should have just gotten the one I had before beacuse this has SPIKES and walls out of nowhere. I thought it was the shadows.. but it's not. It's really strange. I took pics of it while playing BF2: Special Forces.

This has never happened with any of the other video cards. I already un installed the nVidea drivers. It says Service Pack 2 is recommened but the last time I got SP2 it screwed a few other things up. Hopefully somone out there can help me out.. if not looks like i'm heading back up to best buy. Thanks

Jam it back in, in the dark.

An easy way would just to save what you want to keep and format, re-install windows, SP2 it at beginning, then go from there.

If not, all the blah blah directx9.0c, latest drivers, patches for the game etc.~

I'm guessing you used to be on nVidia before you bought this radeon then.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yup it was a 128 asylum (I don't remember the random numbers) but I know it was based on a Vodoo. Well re formating is more of a last ditch effort.. but i'll check the dirct x 9 update.

How ya doing, buddy?

I had some fucked up problems with my Radeon 9800. Does your system ever lock up and reboot itself or is it just giving artifacts like that throughout the game?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Yeah it's froze and rebooted twice. Plus the Direct X update did not help.. still same problems.

How ya doing, buddy?

Could it be overheating? Is it overclocked? Is the fan spinning? The fan on my GPU would spin for like a few seconds then die. I had to RMA it to newegg, unfortunately, that still hasn't fixed my problems.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

would that cause the spikes or (Artifacts) and stuff to pop up? The fan is really loud when you start up but then it goes quiet.. so it might not be. I'm going to give it a second look with a flashlight.

Otherwise:
Revert to the basic video settings for BF2. Disable shaders as well.

Also note that you've got an AGP 8x card in a 4x slot...I've got the same card but I don't know what the 4x will do to it.

Well, I returned it to BB and and got the 1300 which seems as of now to be working just fine. The only new strange problem.. is that when I right click on the windows bar at the bottom or on the desktop.. the menu is invisble until I mouse over it. But in firefox or a internet window.. the menu shows up just fine. I'm looking not to see if Control Center thing did something different to my desktop. Anyone have any problems with that before?

How ya doing, buddy?
