Unfair "selective" rule enforcement

Apparently, there is a rule regarding "one" or "two" line post. Short post are zapped and said violators warned.

For example, in the General Video Gaming section, I posted in sections called:

"Name your latest purchses"

"Name games you would never trade"

I wrote one or two line answers with something like:

"My last three purchases were game "x", game "y" and game "z". Game "z" is one of the best games I bought this year and I highly reccomend it.

The above 2 line post was erased and I was warned...however, there were several such post above mine (other posters) that were smaller and/or contained less detail.

I know this isn't my site but I think this absolutely sucks.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm personally unsure why "name your last ____ purchase" and the like kinds of threads are permitted to begin with, since they do encourage spam and I have rarely seen any discussion really bloom with these sorts of threads.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, in the video game purchase thread, you can read it and see that "Hey SolidSnake_89 just bought such-and-such game, maybe I will send him an IM to discuss his feelings about the game." Maybe there won't be a lot of room for in-thread discussion, but it could be a thread that is a launch point for external discussion and socialization amongst members.

Also hey roboguy, in my resolution, your "My last three purchases..." is only one line, just an FYI.

There is no line limit, but a quality limit. It varies among forums and threads.

One mod may sometimes miss a post that another eventually cleans up later. They can't all be noticed immediately, but you can always report anything that you want staff to take a look at.

Where is the discussion? I don't see that thing where one is a great game and so and so. You basically listed three games. That's why it was deleted. Maybe you're not used to it, but we focus more on discussion here than many other forums do.

If you feel someone else's posts slipped through, feel free to use the report button, but that post was certainly not up to our standards. They could be too lofty, but we like 'em.

ROBO, if you see bad posts that we've missed, PLEASE use the post report button, as Mikey said. Not enough people use it, really.

Newly reported posts are highly visible to mods and it's rare that they go more than several hours without at least being examined.

Not all mods react to the same spam in equal fashion. Some are strict, others more relaxed. Depends upon who gets there first. There's no rule against reporting the same post if several days pass and nothing has changed. Someone different might get there and agree with you. Just don't become obsessive. If you report a post several times and it remains, your opinion might be in the minority. Not your fault though.

It's not "selective", it's "subjective".

There's sort of a grey fuzzy line between what is a "good" post and what is a "bad" post. Once you set that "one line posts are bad" precedent, you just get people adding filler to meet a silly quota, which creates more shitty posts than it prevents.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Oh, I admit I wrote a short, non discriptive post...I will not repeat it in the future.

I was just irritated by the fact the prior, simular post were ignored and not removed.

Thank you...those of you that answered my inquiry without the stupid sarcasm.

Generally, I don't like setting down a rule like "Don't do one line posts" or "Your post must be at least 4 words" because everyone will think this refers to an absolute minimum, when it's not the lenght, but the content. Mods say "Don't post single line posts" as a general encouragement to put proper content into your posts because single sentences rarely have much in them.

In this particular case, the opening post very clearly states, and I quote:

Quote:
Note:
To prevent spam posts, you must elaborate on your purchases. Don't just tell what you bought, You should explain why you bought it, where, when, how and any other interesting stories you might have about the game or the purchase itself.

If your purchase has no interesting stories to tell, don't post. If your post consists merely of what you bought, it will be deleted.
Maybe that last sentence should be even larger, but most of the people no longer read first posts anyway.

If there are shitty posts you see, please report them, like the rest have said here. If there's crappy posts in that thread that you feel have been left alone unfairly, that's probably oversight on my part as I seem to sometimes miss posts no matter how thorough I try to be.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That you post in such threads, and are shocked when your spammy posts get deleted, really doesn't speak well for you. Please, if you think this sucks, leave. That's the wonderful thing about free will. Don't remain in a place that you do not enjoy, sir.

No one asked for your late opinion, troll. My question was already answered intelligently. Your coming here days later looking for fresh meat certainly doesn't speak well for you either, however it does give us a hint at what your function is here.

Unless I am banned, I will come and go as much as I want.

Admin/Mods....feel free to close this thread, thank you...before other buzzards arrive.
