Arrow how come more than half of GFF members = zero posters?

seriously, I'm surprised, why their information arent deleted? around 4421 /7550 members to be exact. Just what they do in GFF actually?

I think it would be reasonable to conclude that they lurk around a lot, laugh at some things, and mostly leech off of the Concert Hall sharing threads and the My Stuff forums. But that is my opinion, based on my observations of the forum's traffic.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That number doesnt include 1-2 posting users (for purpose not being banned I guess). Perhaps the member here actually floating around 1000 after all.

EDIT: what does 'leech' mean?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Basically, it means they only take things from Gamingforce, or any other source, without giving back.

Are they banned automatically, after certain period? (not posting, just looking around ftp sites, concert hall, etc)

How ya doing, buddy?

Well its no surprise GFF member base is mostly zero posters. Its kinda been that way since the days of GFA.

And about your question. I think the urban dictionary has a pretty clear description of the internet term "leech" =p

leech

1. Any of various chiefly moronic filesucking, bandwiidth hogging, and carnivorous 'users' of the class assholenea takeallus, of which one species (homo forumis) is generally found to suck in forums too.

2. One that preys on or clings to another; a parasite, fileleech.

3. One on who existance depends on the good deeds of others, but never themselves.

4. One who does not support the community.

A few years ago, one of the Admins removed zero-posters who were not active for a certain amount of time.

We'll probably purge the database of zero posters later this year to open up avaliable usernames. We usually delete accounts with 0 posts who haven't been logged into in over 6 months.

Oh wow, I had no idea we did anything like that. Or would this be the first time?

The "Leech" title carries no restrictions to it, eriol, it goes away as soon as you make your first post. In a forum with post count turned on that is.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

We've done it in the past before. I think NYRSkate was the person who did it last time, before the recent crash.

Deleting users with 0 posts doesn't have an effect on the community. They probably take up 1 MB at most in the database.

As for why? I guess some just want to see the board without posting.

I still laugh so hard when someone says that zero-posters take up "tons of space in the database," when little do they know, all the database entries made for their post on complaining about the zero posters takes up more than the zero posters.

Maybe we should just follow Diablo II Battle.net rules, meaning one post within 10 days or your account get deleted. Maybe not so much to free up names and space, but to teach the zero-posters we don't like you just coming here to take some VGM and leave.

You guys scare them all off, that's why. :P

In all seriousness, a lot of the long-term members have known each other for a long time. I don't know if I'll ever feel comfortable commenting in journals. They really feel like a club of which I am not a member. That's only fair of course, and only the same as the structure of society. We are all naturally better disposed towards those whom we have known for some lenght of time.

well 2-3 years ago I was one of them, I did was a member of this forum but it took me 1 year to start posting, but I was ready a lot and I still do it (I'm not a big "poster" anyway)

I liked to read about anything and especially about video game news and what other though about it.

I was coming on this forum more to get video game news or something and some scan that sometime you can get on other official website.

maybe some are like that, but i'm sure there's more of people that came here once for one thing and never came back...
