Sorry about not voting last week.
3 points - Tyrian (Game Rip) - Tyrian, The Song 2 points - Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies 1 point - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass Alexander Brandon does some great work. Did he have any other songs featured in SotW? His name sounds familiar. Last point was up in the air, Alex's Theme and Yet Another Ex File both came close. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() so they may learn the glorious craft of acting from the dear leader |

I have a better one for you. I think it's safe to say that Tomorrow of Promise (Last Battle) from Neorude 2 (Technosoft Game Music Collection Volume 12 ~ Discovery) is far too popular for Song of the Week, since it's appeared in several best song contests here, as well as this year's Sony Scape OST. However, another track from the soundtrack, What a Good Atmosphere ~ Main Theme Bossa Nova Version (Unused), was successfully nominated for SotW. So, a soundtrack's having one or two well-known songs doesn't immediately mean that the whole soundtrack is ineligible. I think there's been enough debate on the Suikoden I track that I'll create a poll, hopefully within the next day or so. Also, how about Tobal No. 1? We have one yea and one nay on that so far. Should the lack of debate be taken to mean that no one else really feels it should be ineligible? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Okay, I'm just going to assume that Tobal No. 1 is good to go.
SUIKODEN POLL I was speaking idiomatically. |
Pretty good...My kind of week. Nothing bad, some cool surprises (actually, 5 were new to me) and it was hard picking a top three that broke away from the pack.
1st-Stage 5 Avatar of Nightmare 2nd-Lagoon 3rd-Pull Back the Bass Not much in the way of commentary this week...Tired. Will come up with a nomination next week. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Nice week. With surprises to boot.
(2 points) Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus - Avatar of Nightmare - This was a pleasant surprise. For a rock track, it's very listenable with a good melody and great instrumentation. The electric guitar never becomes overbearing and, together with the percussion, gives the track a lot of character. (2 points) Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass Very, very nice. I particularly liked the texture of the track and the layering. Bonus points for an interesting melody. (1 point) CHAOS SEED ~Fuusui Kairouki~ GM-PROGRESS 6 - Alex's Theme Another good piece. "Alex's Theme" is a fluid track with a nice melody and some good development as well. (1 point) Tyrian (Game Rip) - Tyrian, The Song I loved the game a great deal but seriously can't remember much of the music. :P So I was highly anticpating this track to see if it can jolt some latent memories. Unfortunately, my memory must be getting worse by the year because I don't remember this one. It's a neat song that gets more interesting as the song progresses. But I did think the ending could have been a tad stronger. And the rest... Lagoon - Moonchild I thought this was kind of neat but I would have preferred if some sections had a bit more bite and oomph. Nice melody, though. Langrisser - Hikari no Matsuei (Game Rip) - Descendants from Elthlead When I first heard this I couldn't help but think of anime. Certianly sounds like it could be an opening track to one minus the vocals. I do think the piece is rather robust and doesn't simply rely on a catchy melody to sound good. Just missed out on points, though... Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies "Eight Melodies" is very uplifting and wistful. The fist half has this surreal dreamland imagery going for it that gives way to an unexpected upbeat section that brings to mind the break of a new dawn full of hope and promise. The music box bit at the end was a nice touch. Highly suspect this song to be some sort of ending or credits theme. WILD ARMS the 4th Detonator Original Score - Yet Another Ex. File The chip tune-like melody was certainly surprising. It's very pleasant but somehow not quite as compelling as I thought it could be despite the nice melody. FELIPE NO
I think therefore I am... I think.

This is a great week indeed. I'll try to comment more later, but for now, votes:
3 point(s) :: Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus : Avatar of Nightmare - Very much like Hosoe's work on Ibara and Under Defeat, so it wins. Super Sweep cleaning house like what. 2 point(s) :: Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass Alex B. is a great composer, and he puts some great stuff in here, such as the awesome ending hook. 1 point(s) :: Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies Point could have also gone to Chaos Seed, Langrisser, or Tyrian, but I decided this had more flavor. Double Post: This may change to a different song, but for now, I am nominating: * Artist(s): III * Album Title: REMASTERED TRACKS ROCKMAN ZERO Physis * Track Title: Esperanto * Source: My OST (English GET) * File Location: http://host.kg13.com/music/Rockman%2...0Esperanto.mp3 * Composer: Luna Umegaki * Disc Number: 1 (of 2) * Track Number: 07 * Catalog Number: INTIR-006~7 * Year: 2005 What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I have about 2 minutes to type this post, so here I gooooo!
3 points for Wild ARMS 2 points for Mother 1+2 1 point for Jazz Jackrabbit There's nowhere I can't reach. |
3 points - Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies
2 points - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass 1 point - Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus.: Avatar of Nightmare - This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
A remarkably solid week. To force seperation, any tracks that were straight up synth rock (Moonchild, Decendants...) were elimanated. Next, Yet Anoter Ex. File, which is infectiously upbeat but lacking a hook. Avatar of Nightmare is a fun track, but I'm actually holding its superior synths against it. And while I initially didn't like Eight Melodies at first, I can appreciate the genius in creating the track out of a single original melody and making it work.
That leaves us: (2 points) Tyrian, The Song - Really solid work by Brandon. Just a hint of darkness in the midst of up-tempo synth heaven. (2 points) Pull Back The Bass - Another Brandon track, equally enjoyable. (2 points) Alex's Theme - I've run out of descriptive things. It's good. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Delicious week.
<3 points> Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus - Avatar of Nightmare - <1 point> Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass <1 point> CHAOS SEED ~Fuusui Kairouki~ GM-PROGRESS 6 - Alex's Theme <1 point> Langrisser - Hikari no Matsuei (Game Rip) - Descendants from Elthlead I was speaking idiomatically. |
CHAOS SEED ~Fuusui Kairouki~ GM-PROGRESS 6 - Alex's Theme
Pretty good. The beat and melody are both appealing to my ears. This is a very solid track. There's a very cool solo in the latter portion, too. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass This track is made of nice jazz and synth, and I like it. Remains pretty catchy throughout its duration, too.Lagoon - Moonchild This is my nomination. It is enjoyable for its rockin' nature and neat solo in the middle, but it feels a little underdeveloped compared to the other tracks this week. Langrisser: Hikari no Matsuei (Game Rip) - Descendants from Elthlead This was fun to listen to. The track is seemingly even more upbeat than some other nominations this week. Reminds me of something from the Rockman games, for some reason. Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies Great stuff... It's very pretty and enjoyable to listen to~ *tries thinking of more to say to do this track justice, but can't* ._. Just know that I like it. Quite a bit. Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus : Avatar of Nightmare - This one gets straight to the rockin' after a short introduction, and it's pretty enjoyable. Didn't find the melody to be as awesome as in some of the other tracks, but it's still one of the better nominations this week. Tyrian (Game Rip) - Tyrian, The Song Whoa, coo'. I really enjoy the melody and development on this track. 'Tis a shame it isn't longer. Short and sweet though, nonetheless.WILD ARMS the 4th Detonator Original Score - Yet Another Ex. File Like Moonchild, this is good, but not as enjoyable as some other stuff that this week has to offer. 2 Points ~ Tyrian (Game Rip) - Tyrian, The Song 1 Point ~ CHAOS SEED ~Fuusui Kairouki~ GM-PROGRESS 6 - Alex's Theme 1 Point ~ Langrisser: Hikari no Matsuei (Game Rip) - Descendants from Elthlead 1 Point ~ Mother 1+2 Original Soundtrack - Eight Melodies 1 Point ~ Tobi Tsukihime Soundtrack - Stage 5 - amVirus : Avatar of Nightmare - Awesome but missed out on Point(s) ~ Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Game Rip) - Pull Back the Bass Great week. I thoroughly enjoyed the unintentional synth rock theme. ;p What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Mmmmm, I though Jazz Jackrabbit had this thing sewn up. Everyone was handing it points for the first three or four days.
Must've been a come from behind victory. FELIPE NO ![]() |
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Very sweet results. Just a bit miffed Jazz didn't win. I wasn't really fond of this week, and for half this week, the only song I would listen to was Pull Back the Bass.
Oh well. Good to know Battle 08 won't totally suck. The Stage 5 theme was very nice, but I had a problem with the melody around the beginning. And the unneccessary length, even with the loop. Still, it's better than all the other tracks currently lined up for battle. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Would have been nice to have Jazz win it, but I'm content with 2nd place. I'm glad people enjoyed it; also glad Brandon got some recognition this week.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
