A type of Firefox extension for re-sizing web sites?
I use 800x600 resolution.
Most of the Internet has moved over to 1024x768 or higher, which I detest, because it'll cause me to develop some kind of strained eye disorder if I use it for more than 10 minutes. Is there any extension that shrinks websites down so I don't have to scroll left and right or in the case of somethingawful.com's new layout, have text and images cut off? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Does your monitor not support 1024x768?
In 2002ish we finally abandoned 640x480. Four years later, we're almost rid of the evil that is 800x600. I don't mean to be a snob - 800x600 is 0.48 Megapixels. Not enough space to do crap in. Even if there was an extension that somehow DID resize your stuff from 1024x768 down, the text would be unreadable and the images would look like crap. Just give in. Up your resolution. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Blah blah blah worthless post by you.
It hurts my eyes. 17" monitor, CRT Dell. 1024x768 and up at 60-85 hz still makes my eyes hurt. 800x600 at 60hz is the only stable, easy-to-see resolution for me (plus my parents use this computer and they're even worse off). Now, can anyone post a helpful response? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
im sure you are already aware of it, but you can hold cntrl and use a mouse wheel to shrink the text, its not automatic, but it may be your only option, as im not aware of an extension that you want
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I'm also on a 17" Dell CRT. I run at 1440x1080, and sometimes find myself with not enough room. I'm about an outstretched arm's length away from my screen. How far away do you sit? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Hmm, I'm trying different ways to get adjusted to having a 1024x768 resolution.
I think I've struck a good mid-point by using "Large Fonts" in Display Properties, coupled with ClearType font smoothing and Large Icons by WindowBlinds, plus making the font size bigger in Firefox. How ya doing, buddy? |
My advice, monetary limits aside, would be to increase my screen size. 19"-21" CRT's can be had at good prices because of LCD popularity. Also, if you are using a rounded-CRT (not a flat-glass), that WILL cause eye strain, no question. My brother used one of those for the past 4-6 years. Drove me nuts every time I used it.
