Ridge Racer 6

Did anyone else play this game? It was a solid title, the graphics were really good and impressed me.

I've heard that there is a big lag problem on Live but I don't really know since I haven't played the game on live yet.

I have to say, this is my first X-Box 360 title and I was impressed. The game did start getting really cheap in the later races though, which is the reason I didn't really like the game too much.

I thought the music was very satisfying, it was the only reason I really wanted to get this game. I can't get "Floodlight" out of my head >_>. I think Ridge Racer PSP's soundtrack is still on my tops list though.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Bought my 360 for this game, and it's a lot of fun. It turned out better than I expected actually. The soundtrack's decent, but I really haven't stuck with it. I had The Cure playing last time I was racing. Maybe not the most suited music for the game, but it’s working for me.

Anyway. The nitrous addition just isn't as subtle as it was in Ridge Racers PSP. Different cars build up nitrous at different rates, yeah, but you still feel something's afoot when you see the opposition firing them off so often. But I'd been briefed on that before I bought the game, so why am I complaining.

I haven’t researched it, but I'm convinced the announcer is voiced by the same voice actor that voiced Sigint in MGS3.

How ya doing, buddy?

"Oh, you totally got Owned"...the announcer guy cracks me up a lot. It surprised me just how much he helped me out in the game when other people "fired off nitrous".

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I agree, she's been around for a few installments too long. Time for a makeover.

I was speaking idiomatically.

The funny thing is that on every version of RR that they do use a different character the games seems to bomb. The latest example is RR DS. Not that the DS part helped any though.

How ya doing, buddy?

So what's the backstory with Gina? I mean, she was a man at some point, right?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I remember when I played my first RR game (Ridge Racer PSP), I was like, "who is this chick and why is she here".

She still lurks in the franchise to this day, trapped in a world of turny cars...

What is that chicks name anyway?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Her name is Reiko Nagase. Here's the run down
She was seen in:
Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Revolution, Rage Racer, Ridge Racer Type 4, Ridge Racer PSP, Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7 (correct me if I forgot one)

Ai Fukama was in Ridge Racer 5

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I have the game, and try as I may to get into it and fully enjoy it, I just can't.

Perhaps I'm just so accustomed to the gameplay from the original Ridge Racer and RR:Revolution that RR6 is just too large a departure for me.

And I don't really like the DDR-like announcer. Call me crazy, but I love the cheesy, over-exagerrated announcer from the 1st Ridge Racer.

Next corner's tough...WATCH YOURSELF!!

And well, nothing tops the music from the original for me. The happy hardcore-esque music really made the mood complete for me in the original, and most of the songs in RR6 just don't get me all pumped like the orignals.

Yes, I do know they released remixes of the originals on marketplace (I guess they're taken from the PSP version), but they're just not the same.

And hell, the original Ridge Racer will forever be embedded in my mind for the countless nights where I was tortured by the elusive Black Car. That thing was damn evil I tell 'ya.
