Furthest you've ever walked

Walked about 10 miles the other day, it took up most of the day, there were stops along the way. It wasn't a straight forward 10 miles - most of it was over rocky beaches and up and down rolling headlands. I don't know if that meant the distance was harsher, of if it was psychologically the opposite, because the more interesting journey kept the mind off how far I'd actually gone/had further to go.

Anyway, 10 miles might not be the furthest I've ever walked, but it certainly is in recent times, and will be used from now on as a benchmark.

I've walked 10 miles twice before. It doesn't sound like all that far...until you walk it.

I'm getting ready to top my record, though, because in three weeks we're going on a hiking trip into the Grand Canyon. We'll be walking approximately 25 miles in three days.

Roughly 7 miles to the nearest town. Didn't have a car so...

Funny thing, I lost about 4 lbs in one walk.

Oh yeah, forgot to post my findings. My toes were very saw near the end, the feet around the ankle area were aching slightly, and my legs were just beginning to feel the strain at the time of arriving home. The day afterwards, it was only my calfs that felt tender, and that's not down to the distance but due to attempting to tackle an almost sheer hill by running at it full pelt 'to allow the momentum of speed to carry me up', which didn't pan out as originally thought.

I'm not quite sure if this was the longest walk I have ever taken, but I had to walk home from work, which was about 15 miles, because I had no drivers license at the time. It really didn't seem all that long either.

Also, long ago when I was in Boy Scouts, there was a trip to some BS convention, and there was literally non-stop walking for about 8 hours.

During a trip to San Francisco, my friends and I walked to every place we wanted to see, and the stay lasted about 11 hours. Walking was tiring since some of the streets were steep and required us to climb up.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

A comparatively small distance: from my place in the middle of town to the far west end, which is relatively near the borders of the town. So I'm going to approximate a good 50 blocks or so. The time went by really fast because it was a nice day and I was catching up with an old friend the whole time, so we unwittingly walked pretty far.

The furthest I've walked is probably about...eight miles when I took a tour of my hometown shortly before moving away. It was early in the morning, so I wasn't having to contend with the sun or any warm temperatures at first. By the end of it my legs were sore as fuck and I nearly spent the rest of the day resting.

I didn't really think that it would be so difficult since it was all level excluding one half mile uphill and three tapering down. Goes to prove that driving does make you weak.

The furthest I've walked is fourteen miles at Big Bend National Park. Now that I think about it, it was probably more than that if you factor in all of the hills we had to go up and down to get our destination (a mountain we hiked up) and back, but it was fourteen miles according to the map. It was very hard and I still can't believe I pulled it off without dropping dead. Those of us who went on that hike fondly refer to it as the "Death March."

It's actually "farthest". "Further" measures degree, "farther" measures distance. I learned this while watching Finding Forrester.

About 11 miles or so. A friend and I were in Woonsocket and we were going to see a buddy of mine that had moved away years ago, but we didn't want his little brother coming along. So we had to go the opposite direction at first and then the long way around the city to make sure he didn't follow us. When we got back, our leg muscles felt like they were about to explode.

The most I've ever walked is ~17miles at Silver Falls in Oregon. I spent the better part fo 12 hours hiking around, which undertstandably exhasted me.
I also spent 2-3 hours walking down NE Killingsworth in Portland. I lost me Tri-Met ticket and walked all the way from before 1st to 42Ave or St (I didn't care to remember what suffix they put on the damn roads).

One time, after school one day, back when I was with my ex, we decided to go to What Dreams May Come. Which was on the COMPLETELY OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CITY.

But before we could walk to the movie theatre, he had to make about a million pit-stops at all of his friends' houses. Which were literally sparsed ALL OVER the north side.

By midnight, we had walked all over the entire portion of Worcester in the north, I swear to GOD. I would say we walked at least 15 miles that day with all the stops and round-about ways of going places.

I once measured (via vehicle) from the high school to North cinemas alone was 6 miles the way we went. So just the round trip would have been 12 miles.

Which I have done about 3 times. Because all I ever did in high school was walk EVERYWHERE with my friends.

50 Mile Hike in Boy Scouts. That one was rough, and took us at least 18 Hours. But we had a couple of substantial breaks in there. I've also done a couple of 20 Miles with the longest breaks being a couple of minutes to have people catch their breath.

Kaiten, I'm also from Oregon. Silver Falls is a nice place to hike...

My Longest was about 16 miles, at high elevation (about 8,000 feet above sea level, where the air is thinner). I'm planning on shattering that record this summer, with one of two possible hikes I'm planning.

Plan A: Hike the "crater rim trail" around Paulina Lake in central Oregon. Total distance: about 28 miles. I plan to do the whole thing in one day.

Plan B: Hike all the way around Mt. Hood on the "Timberline" trail. Total Distance: about 40 miles. I'd need 3 days I think for this one, because I'll be carrying alot of camping gear with me, that stuff gets heavy after the first 5 miles or so...

I'm not sure which I'm going to do yet, depends on what my friends want to do. I don't want to hike that far by myself, I learned the value of the buddy-system in the Boy Scouts...

I walked/ran to Manhattan, NY from Fort Lee, NJ. Needless to say, I slept on the park bench one night.

The furthest I've ever walked in one day was probably through 3 districts in Tokyo, estimated around 15km.

But the hardest walk I've ever done was through 2.3km of the great wall of china. Because it's not a flat walk, it goes up hill and down hill multiple times and there are lots of stairs.

Longest walk I actually know the mileage of was a 20 mile round-trip hike up a mountain and back, although when I was visiting family in Newark, NJ aside from the time taking the boat across to NY we walked all the way from the apartment in Newark to Central Park, walked all the hell over that park, and walked back. I'm not quite sure how long that was, although it took more than an impressively sized portion of the day.

4.6 miles from downtown miami to coral gables fl when I was in college.

It took me about 2 hours and forty five mintues to walk it.

I wear a pedometer when I work and I average between 7-10 miles of walking around the store in a full day.

Other than that, I can't recall any long walks I've ever taken that are worth nothing.

From what I can remember 25 miles is the longest I walked, if you count a marathon. I did it as a kid. As an adult, the longest I've walked was about 7 miles. The buses were running behind schedule and I didn't feel like waiting. I walked from the bus stop in town all the way back to my house. I saw the bus coming when I was halfway there.

in one go? without stopping i would say 14 miles would be the furthest.
No idea in the space of a day including stopping, I walked around tokyo a lot due to getting lost, same with Kyoto which i figure would total about 15 - 16 miles if i take into consideration where i was going etc

We took one "walk trip" in the army. I think it was about 10 miles, but it felt a LOT longer with 60 pounds of stuff on your back.
