If you were a fan of a celebrity, you met them, and they acted like a jerk

Would you still be a fan of them?

If not, what if you partially incited it, albeit unintentionally? Would you still be a fan then?

If I were to not have incited the backlash, then I wouldn't like them as a celebrity. Then again, celebs have feelings too.

Wow. That's a lot of hypotheticals to cover. Okay, assuming I actually am a fan of a particular celebrity, I'm somehow in a situation in which I meet them, and they, for whatever reason, act like a jerk (I guess without actually being a jerk?), I probably would still be a fan. I would only be a fan of someone I actually like the work of. So, I could still appreciate the work, despite my encounter with the person. Being the somewhat logical person that I am, I would also note that the celebrity may not always be the way they acted on that day.

If I incited their acting like a jerk, I would definitely still be a fan because then the whole thing would have been my fault. I shouldn't dislike others for something I caused.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I would hope that none of the celebrities I ever meet would act like jerks (mostly because the majority of the ones I want to meet are not that 'big' anyways...). Really though, I don't see myself approaching any celebs anytime soon. I always think that if I were them, I'd get wierdos coming up to me all the time and be annoyed by it. Besides, it's not like I'm going to say anything of importance to them anyways ("I love you!" "I love your films" "I liked you in [insert movie/show here]").

Please. They don't need that, and that way I won't have to have my idealistic image of them shattered by approaching them and potentially pissing them off.

um, well i probably would just laugh at how much of an asshole they are and in reality just go online to warn others about their arrogance. If it comes down to it i would just have some sort of mental break down on television about him acting like a jerk and just make that person look bad XD

Sure, why not. They can be jerks if they want to. If they were like "hey you, piss off", I'd lower my camera and leave their bathroom in peace. If they started buggering up whatever they do, be it acting, singing or juggling elephants, THEN I wouldn't like them.

It would just depend on how much I liked the celebrity's work. If I think their work is some of my favorite of all time, I would still be a fan even if they did act like a jerk. But if it was a person whose work I only kinda liked, if they rubbed me the wrong way by being a jerk I could see myself being angry enough at them to stop being a fan of them and their work.

I would just shoot my dirtiest look at them if they were unnecessarily a jerk. I mean, I can understand the amount of times they hear the same things from fans, and that they may be tired, but unfortunately for them, they're always media darlings. They shouldn't have to go through it, but that's what hapens when they're celebrities.
They don't have to be super-polite all the time... I think a simple "no comment", or a brief "thanks", or even "I'm busy" would be fine.
No need to waste energy with "piss/fuck/screw off" or "get this person/idiot/lunatic out of my face"

If they are just jerks all around, then I wouldn't like them. But if I did something to incite their jerkness, then I can't really blame them. A person's personality shouldn't influence me to think differently about their work. For example, Oasis the band is pretty arrogant, but they still make some good songs. Sure, they act like jerks, but that doesn't stop me from liking them.

Say I enjoy an artist's music. I run into them on a busy street. They are rude to me. That somehow would make the music that I enjoy not sound as good?

I may not like them as a person (but really, since I had never met them I never really did like them as a person anyway) anymore, but I'm fairly certain that I would still enjoy thier work.

I'd probably hold a grudge against them for a long time and then the feelings of anger and dislike would have faded and I'd forgive them. I will have moved on to another favourite actor/ress in the meantime.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Celebrities aren't real people, so I'm not bothered.

Unless it's a musician, in which case I'd just stop buying their stuff and BITTORRENT TO THE FUTURE

Celebrities in general are calloused jerks I figured Either they're pompouse asses or they got annoyed shitless by fans when they were still receptive.

Tom Hanks I'd love to meet, though. He doesn't SEEM like a bad guy >_>

Probably not, the thought of her/him being a jerk would probably haunt my mind.

But at the same time it depends. If it's a musical celebrity, sure, I can't see why I would stop listening to his/her music. On the other hand, if it was like a comedian or a movie star, where you see him/her and personality plays a bigger role, I might "stop being a fan" or something.

How ya doing, buddy?

I always hate getting to know celebrities on a personal level (gossip or otherwise), it totally ruins your perception of that person's work (supposedly why you're a fan in the first place). Like if an actor was a jerk in real life and you were watching a movie where he's the hero, you can't help but think he'd prefer to punt the child off a bridge rather than save it from a burning building.

I can't listen to Michael Jackson music anymore. His whole career is just a long string of pedophile mastrubation songs.

It's impossible to know someone on a "personal level" through gossip.

I really wouldn't care. There are plenty of assholes in this world. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of celebs were, nor would it make me any less of a fan of theirs. I'm a fan of a celeb for their artistic talents (music, acting, etc...), not for whatever I imagine their personalities to be like based on what I see and read about them.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'd just assume I caught them on a bad day. Unless they were being supremely jerky. Then it'd kinda piss me off a little, but over all it wouldn't be too bad.

Never had that problem though, for some reason. All the musicians I've met have been really nice.
