SAM & MAX: Coming on... Gametap?

So, there's a new trailer for the new Sam & Max game, here.
Judging from it, the humor seems to be the same.
It's a shame the voices doesn't seem just as fitting as in the game...

But seriously, Gametap? What was they thinking?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

WTF is Gametap? Oh well, I just saw the trailer, and whoever voices Max does a decent enough job, but I'm not too sure about Sam. I'd like to see some actual in-game videos before I decide, but hell, it's Sam and Max. I'd get it just for them. *points to username*

Heh, funny trailer, fitting for Sam and Max (even though I've only seen/read a little of it). But Gametap? That seems a bit strange, can't say I'm really happy with the decision. Will the games ever be available in stores? Even though it's episodic, I hope they at least bundle all of them together as a "Sam and Max saga" and sell it at retail.

Hopefully it manages to hold up to the old Sam and Max game, some of those old Lucasarts adventure games are still at the top of their genre.

I really wish they'd not make this game in 3D.

It looks okay, not very special if you ask me; but I guess most people are just happy that they're back ^.^

They already said they're going to do that, and I told you last night.

Even though the 3D looks nice/decent, I still would like to see them in their 2D glory. Cel-shading would be nice, as the GCN Naruto series proves.

Oh, there's wallpaper at the official website :3

P.S. Sam and Max is the coolest duo ever.

I'm glad these this wisecrackin' duo was revived after all, but somehow the new trailer looked a little 'off'. They seem to be heading in a different direction than when Lucasarts was still making it, they released a pretty cool trailer just before they decided to thrash it. I dunno, seems not as funny this time! And where are the original voice-overs? Sniff...

Still, you can't really make an honest judgment from looking at a 1:30 minute long animated teaser full of cryptic terminology, can you?

Sorry, but they couldn't get the voice overs from the game or the TV show. I presume they don't have a high enough budget to afford them.

I really liked the game voices, and they shall be missed.

Max's voice sounds pretty good but Sam's voice is just dull. "Sure thing lil buddy" will never be the same again :/

EDIT: Bit offtopic but it seems we have a chance of getting new voice actors! Quoted from the official forum, a reply from a Telltale employee:

Quote:
Re: the voices need to go
No need for a petition! We are paying close attention to people's reactions to the trailer, don't worry. SamNmaX88 is right, though, that there's no way we can please everybody -- even if we DID get Bill Farmer and Nick Jameson, there are some people who would complain that we should be using Harvey Atkin and Robert Tinkler from the cartoon show...

May I ask what it is that you don't like about the voices? Is it just that they don't sound like the originals to you, or do you have a specific gripe with one (or both) of them? (Also - you mentioned you haven't played the game in a while. It might be an interesting experiment to load it up again and see if they really sound the way you remember them sounding. biggrin)
Nobody can beat Bill & Nick and for some reason, it seems they really don't want to hire them. I didn't like the actors from the cartoon show either...
Well, if we can't have the officials then I don't really mind as long as they replace them with actors worthy enough. Currently Max is pretty good but Sam is a no go. And what's up with Max in the trailer? Sam picks up the phone... without a fight with a certain hyperkinetic rabbity thing, they definitly have to change that.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Not everyone has actually played the PC game, and I don't think anyone who hasn't seen it will complain once they hear the voices. Bill and James did an awesome job with Sam and Max. Actually, it doesn't matter to me who voices Max. I liked every VA who did him so far. It's just Sam I'm worried about. Only Bill pulled it off for me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, you got a point there. I set the actors for the PC game as my standard like many others. I've watched the trailer again and it seems Max does attack Sam like he used too, guess I reacted to quickly

Hey man, speaking of Sam and Max, I have lots of sound bytes from the game. I'm happy to share them to you guys if you want. I just have to dig them out from my CDs...I have too many CDs.

Update: I found them!

For you guys worried about it being exclusive to GameTap, it isn't. If you had read the FAQ on the site it clearly states they'll be offering it directly from their company site for download just like they do with Bone. The reasons they are doing it also with GameTap and mention it so much in the trailer is that they really want to market this game. GameTap will really help. They do commercials on TV. How cool would it be to see a Sam & Max trailer of some sort on TV to get people interested in this game. It's a very good move if you ask me.

I also am glad they are looking into fan reaction. Most of it is pretty positive. I mean, hey, it's Sam and Max! Rejoice!
