But his face was starting to decay unlike other parts of the trailer so it looks like the end.

That's not necissarily decay, it could just be a wound. Besides, that serum that Naomi provides (seen in the TGS trailer) fixes him right up.

Yeah I thought about the shot he takes but we don't know what it does yet, although I wouldn't be suprise how it turns out since Kojima is really good at showing a lot in a trailer but making it seem something it isn't.

Raiden probably jumps in and stops snake before he pulls it and then they fight, Raiden is probably Ninjas son or something and he wants to feel pain of the battle too.
Anyone know if that japanese movie director that redid the scenes for MGS twin snakes is on this? Should we expect lame Matrix and Dead or alive copies?

he had 6 months to live didn't he? so he couldn't possibly just kill himself when he has so little time. I'm guessing this will be like mgs2 where you control snake at first and then another character. Maybe snake will get captured and It'll be a rescue mission.

Yeah, Kitamura was only on board for Twin Snakes, but it's not like Kojima-directed MGS cutscenes haven't had lame Matrix rip offs.

Seriously, am I the only one who isn't convinced Meryl is in Philanthropy? There's nothing to indicate any connection between her and the group. It was already obvious Snake was done with her by MGS2 and what she says in the trailer just felt to me like she was talking about some other group.

Im pretty sure meryl is in a new foxhound, the words/tone she uses in japanese arent/doesnt sound sarcastic. The Subtitle leaves out a few things here and there.

She was left out of MGS2 because HK wanted to leave the true ending of MGS as ambiguous as possible (until you unlock "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses" by beating the game). Why would she go off and join some other group? Besides, the Patriots want her dead as well for knowing the truth about Shadow Moses just like they want Snake, Otacon, and Campbell dead. She'd be smart to stay with Philanthropy.

Only time will tell. Can you at least admit that it's more likely that she's a part of Philanthropy than not? Let's leave it at that for now.

For the record, Mobius 1, Meryl isn't Campbell's daughter. She's his niece.

I doubt she's in philantropy. In fact, I bet Philanthropy is disbanded now as well because of the graveyard scene. It seems like it happens at the beginning of the game. His suit sort of hints that maybe he gave up trying to stop new Metal Gears because humanity seemed doomed anyway. Plus it also explains why Otacon and Campbell had to hunt him down in a chopper.


Also, in the trailer, you can tell at the very end of it that Snake starts to pull the gun out of his mouth. Snake won't kill himself.

Finally, what's this crap about Raiden being Gray Fox's son? Where the fuck did anyone get that from? Solidus murdered Raiden's parents, and raised him as his own adoptive child, along with many other child soldiers. Gray Fox has nothing to do with Raiden.

Well, she sounds pretty proud to me, but what she's saying about Foxhound sounds like this new group is equal to Foxhound, taking its place since the original is gone (though the true original has been gone for ages), though obviously not named so.

My point was that she's not there as a part of Snake's troupe. What she says in japanese (wareware wa etc) isn't something you use when talking to a person (Snake) about their own group. But maybe that's just me. Most of the dialogue and especially translation sounds so awkward. No one says something like "The onus is ours", least of all someone like Otacon.

The ending of MGS was not left ambiguous in MGS2, it was simply not cleared at all. Snake was hooked up with Otacon, indicating the "bad" ending, yet Meryl was admittedly alive, indicating the good ending.

Nastacha's book (available for reading from the start, I read it even before starting the game despite having finished MGS1) in the game said Meryl survived, and Snake said he was through with tomboys, when asked why he wasn't with her anymore.

And for the record, I can't wait for this game. Trailer looks fucking awesome, and to be honest, from what I've seen so far, if this is the last game of the series, then it is set to go out on a tremendous high.

Ahh loved the new trailer! And giving the last 3 minutes or so to Raiden, haha, pretty much has me drooling to play as him. The way he uses those heels, ahaha, so sweet! And man, Raiden took out, like, 12 of those Gekkos like there were nothing. Haha, but I doubt it'd be that simple when we actually play as him. Well, that's assuming we get control of him, come on HK don't be a bastard...

I wonder why Naomi is there on the battlefield, besides giving him the tranqs. Also curious as to why Otacon is crying. As for Cambell, wonder what his purpose is, don't think he's the CO of this operation. Then there's Meryl, hmm did Snake mistaken her for a rep from the Patriots? Hmm, I wonder if there'll be another joint effort battle. Eg. Snake being partnered up with Meryl or Raiden blazing through an onslaught of enemies. Heh, maybe HK will surprise of us once again by making Meryl playable instead of Raiden. Oh and the camera angles, I found it interesting that the individual character sections of the trailer didn't feature both Snake and the character on screen.

Kinda of unfortunate that they still haven't given us the new mix of the MGS theme. But it makes sense considering the trailer's tone was of death.
