Why do people hate that name? It's sooo coooool *flinches to get ready for stones*!!!

I'm guessing they're putting an amount of extra stuff that'll warrant the Wii compatibility. We all know that the Wii controller can be used when played on it, but with the extra power they might also help the graphics a bit.

More stages? Alternate story-line when you play from GCN to Wii?

I don't know. But I'm hoping this time wasn't ONLY to make the TP compatible with the Wii controller. There's got to be more than that.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That's development of two games at once, and I doubt Nintendo has that kind of manpower to spare.

It's a given that Ninty isn't going to scrap TP this late in the game just to remake it on the Wii, and dual-production is out of the question, so all this talk is just idle speculation and/or misunderstandings of the added functionality being added for the Wii.
i'm sure they can do all that even without releasing two seperate games. just store higher-res textures and more polygons on the disc, but scale it down for gamecube. also, putting the different sontrol scheme isn't too impossible i'm sure... also the wii isn't "entirely new hardware," it's the same as the gamecube but faster, and with more RAM. maybe the wii game will stream from location to location with no load times. i don't know.

New scans of EGM's latest issue of Zelda: Twilight Princess have surfaced. Hunt it down, folks.

Info from E3 and the Wii-capable Zelda.

Quote:

More importantly for Nintendo fans, the Time article revealed several key pieces of information about Wii games. First, Grossman described playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii. "Now I'm Errol Flynn, sword fighting with the controller, then aiming a bow and arrow, then using it as a fishing rod, reeling in a stubborn virtual fish," he said. While Nintendo confirmed the much-anticipated GameCube title would have some Wii functionality, this is the first official description of what that functionality is.
Taken From GameSpot. Seems cool enough.

yes, yes!! finally, a control revision for gamecube... while running, b slashes the sword without stopping motion, and you can stab people to finish them off.

here's hoping for some different main items.

edit: eh, it's an old scan. but still, i didn't really know that before. yay.

I wonder if they will make it that if you shoot your hookshot at an enemy while running, it would hook onto him and you could drag it around... that would be the coolest

Anyone find any better scans where you can actually read it?

Rumor has it that the Wii controller has a speaker in it which will make sounds like if you fire a gun or connect with a sword.

SOLD. TP has owned my soul.

(though it did that from the very first trailer).

Better scans can probably be found in Zelda fansites. Go hunting, guys!

Talking

:dopey_love: The game has progressed nicely since the last batch of shots I've seen and using the Wii's controller as a bow & arrow...awesome! Besides the top notch visuals, I can only imagine how the soundtrack will turn out.

2 hours to go. Am I to go to sleep in two hours?

Argh all this tension is making me write puns (bad habit).

To keep to the thread, I've noticed while looking back at the gameplay videos that the types of subjects raised by the NPC's are quite "mature". I remember seeing a villager talk to Link about marriage and stuff. Will this occur when Link talks to most NPC's?

If so, they've done great in keeping with the "mature" theme,

ug, rapidshare... i can't ever download stuff from there.

also, is anyone else really annoyed that they're releasing a gamecube zelda and a wii zelda? i don't want to buy the same game twice, and i probably won't get a wii ON launch (though where i am, that wouldn't be too hard).

just... ugh, everyone's been waiting forever for this for gamecube, not wii

EGM is reporting that the Wii-version of "Twilight Princess" will only be playable in widescreen mode. Is this... a disadvantage for someone without a TV supporting widescreen?

How ya doing, buddy?

I was quite a bit disappointed with how Zelda looked on Wii. I mean yes the videos we saw were horribly encoded to hell and appeared to have been de-interlaced as well.

This in game shot brings me hope....

http://wii.nintendo.com/games_zelda.html

I mean I know its probably a photo-shoped picture, but there is good textures, no denying that. I'm betting (hoping) this game will be much better than what we've seen so far.

Production screenshots always look kinda crappy. Anti-aliasing and various other prettying filters are generally the last things to go in.

I'm going to wind up getting a Wii for certain, but unless I get the option of swapping back and forth between control schemes, I think I'm going to settle with the Gamecube. Nintendo is going to drag me kicking and screaming into using their doofy little wand. Plus, I don't have widescreen. Console manufacturers are overestimating how many people actually own hi-def televisions, I think.

I was watching G4's E3 coverage early this morning and they happened to show a preview of the Wii-version of Twilight Princess. Unfortunately, it wasn't displayed ona widescreen-capable monitor.

Link was like, 6 feet tall and lanky. Bleh.

Wii isn't a hidef system. It can do 480p, but that's not really HD. Your Wii games will look fine on a regular TV.

Also, the reason console manufacturers are making things HD-compatible is that in the next few years HDTVs are going to come way down in price, and they will become ubiquitous. When you're making a device you want to last for 5 or 6 years, you need to plan a head a bit.
