Yeah, that is a lame way to bring someone back to life, but this is the comic book world we are talking about and we all know how "serious" comic books treat death.
xman25 There's nowhere I can't reach. |
So, how did Jason Todd come back from the dead? Was it the open gateway as stated in Teen Titans or was it these waves? So, no only do we have the nonsensical item of people being able to punch through reality barriers, now they cause shifts in continuity when they do it? Johns has truly lost his mind.

Hey, at least they try to explain away the inconsistency. Lame deus ex machina or otherwise

Jason Todd was never supposed to die. So when Superboy Prime was throwing an angsty tantrum and hitting the walls of reality, he was caused Jason Todd to come back to life.

Yes, but they'd recently explained in Teen Titans that the Door into Death or something like that was being held open and spirits weren't be kept in check. Superman, Hal Jordan, Oliver Queen, and Jason Todd were all mentioned as having come due to this.

Well then, I guess the doors were being held open by the continuity waves.

Well, some of that can be scientifically explained. Others operate off of a genetic mutation we couldn't possibly try to understand because we have no basis for its existance. Granted, a Speed Force is a little out there. I just think giving people the ability to punch through reality barriers is streching the lines of logic and reason.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Considering that Superboy-Prime is supposed to be equal to Earth-One Superman, who could travel through time (with our system of numbers and years flashing by, no less) on his own power and pretty much ignore all sorts of scientific laws while making some up, I don't find his power all that unreasonable.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I was unaware that the Earth-One Superman had ever done that. Him being able to do that stretches the rules of reason and logic as well. That was probably part of the reason they lessened Supes' power after Crisis. But, if that had already been set as fact, I guess breaking reality barriers isn't much different.

Superboy Prime's random punching fits can also be used to explain the hole in the ozone layer, why Flordia screwed up the voting process, why Rugrats is still on television, and the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand.

But in the DC universe, are we really sure there are any of those things? Have you seen a television with Rugrats? HAve they mentioned an ozone hole? The assasination still happened, but eh. If they do exist there, then that explains how those things happened in DC. How does this explain how they happened here?

Did you not read the second half of that post? I tried to counter sarcasm with more sarcasm.
Double Post:
How was Superman able to punch through the barrier if SP had already punched through the barrier? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Reason: Automerged double post.

Suberboy Prime didn't punch through the barrier. He banged on it and made it vibrate, sending continuity waves out, which explains all of the continuity errors that DC has made since Crisis on Infinite Earths.

He eventually broke through the barriers, allowing him to retrieve the Anti-Monitor's corpse, pushed Thanagar crashing into Rann's sun, and destroy the Justice League watchtower
