Guys, there is this site I want to ban from my computer. [personal stuff =P] Do you guys know how to do it? Do I need program? Can you guys post some kind of step-by-step instruction that will work for EVERY user on the computer?

What do you mean by "ban from your computer"? You mean make it impossible for anyone using your computer to access that site?

Assuming you're an administrator it shouldn't be too hard but most likely you'll need to be running some kind of lame censorship software like CyberSitter. I can't really think of anything else.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well you could go to the command prompt and type "ping www.thesite.com" without the quotes. And instead of www.thesite.com put in whatever URL you're dealing with. It will return to you the IP address. This is the easiest/quickest way I can think of to do it.

You can redirect certain websites to other places or block access to them via the WinXP HOSTS file, but its kind of tricky, I just kind of hit and missed until I got it right. And even then it didn't work too great.

Wait up, I quit don't understand the ping thing. I typed it, and I got some weird site, but no where to put the site on. Could you check the ip of http://www.msms.ednet.ns.ca ?

-Go to \Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc and open the HOSTS file in notepad.
-Add the line : 127.0.0.1 http://www.msms.ednet.ns.ca
-Reboot the computer. You may also need to clear the cache on your web browser, though this normally isn't required.
