The best Firewall
What is the best firewall available right now. And no I do not want to use the Windows firewall, cause I thinks that it suck ass!
Thanks in advance Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I use Zonealarm. It's pretty good, and it's free.

Just so it doesn't look like everyone is ignoring you Nightwish, I too would suggest Zone Alarm. As would practically every other person on this forum who knows a good deal about computers.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |

If you go for Zone Alarm (get pro) go for Version 5.0, because Version 6.0 has all these really crappy spyware features which are useless and take an extra 10mb-15mb of RAM, it just feels bloated so I just stick with the last build of version 5.0 on my PC.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Zone Alarm is best one but use ver 4.5.9 .ver 5 & 6 are suck
I was speaking idiomatically. |
For that, I recommend Kerio. An excellent firewall that still stands strong, even in its free form. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I'm using Sygate's firewall and has given me no problems, not sure how it stands against Zone Alarm though
FELIPE NO |
I used to use Sygate's Personal Firewall as well. I stopped using software firewalls though once I got a hardware one, but I'll recommend Sygate's.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

If you really want the best Firewall, then I recommend a router. Any brand is fine, but whatever you do, do not have a router AND a software firewall, if you do, you may not be able to get online because the firewalls will be blocking all IP address including the one you ISP is sending you to give you a internet connection.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Best firewall = hardware firewall. Thus a router. I don't like Netgear or Belkin. I've had fantastic results with D-Link, I have excellent PnP support with this brand.

First off, how the hell would having two firewalls result in all the IP addresses being blocked? And how would this change with JUST a hardware firewall? :eyebrow: Second, with multiple computers on a network, I would go so far as to say it's VITAL to have a software firewall along with the hardware firewall. After all, if Little Timmy Leet downloads a virus onto his computer (completely by accident), would you want it to be able to go to your own computer? A hardware firewall is good for defending the ENTIRE NETWORK, but it can't defend against stupid people doing stupid shit. Having a software firewall at least confines the stupid shit to the stupid person's computer. Finally, I've installed and run ZoneAlarm Pro on EVERY computer in my house, and we can all access the network just fine. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
