The problem with threads like this is that there isn't much thought involved - most people just sorta say what they're listening to, and that's it. Minimal discussion. Even if you can get some measure of discussion going, there are a fair few people that will interrupt that conversation so they can post the song they're listening to, or say "my speakerss broken lol" or something, and no one is edified. We'll give this one a shot for as long as it can stay beneficial to people involved, and I'm moving it to the Media forum.
I'm currently listening to housethegrate and Ashane's Madara, Movement 1 from the May 2005 DoD competition. Good stuff, and the brothers worked very well together, even that long ago (heh). Shows good instrumental versatility, and the guitar work is, of course, great. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Strike one.
John Williams - Hedwig's Theme (from the first Harry Potter) Easily one of my favorite themes from recent John Williams work. He actually had something original for the first time in a long time, and it came in the form of a catchy, sweeping orchestral piece. Made good use of instrumentation and generally set a really good feel for the start of what has become a hugely-grossing series of movies. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
