1. How the hell should we know? Ask Samsung.
2. Slim fit is just a plain ol' CRT with wider angles, and specially designed screen crystals to make up for it (normal projection TVs get dark around the edges if they aren't deep enough, especially if you're not sitting in exactly the right place). They're not thin, they're just
thinner, but that can still make a difference. No wall hanging for these beasts.
For the rest of q2,
Projection vs CRT,
LCD vs Plasma (2005). (Often unmentioned is how much banding plasma has, causing twinkling and splotching and bad colors in exchange for fast times and true blacks.) Plasma is a dying technology. LCD approaches, matches, or even beats it on every measure, especially the pricier ones. More technologies slated to appear in the next few years will give LCD competition and finally remove Plasma entirely.
3. Yes, of course, all HDTVs have a Wide/Narrow toggle, and some can even do it automatically like DVD players. In fact even most SDTVs have it.
4. Depends on what you're looking for, of course, and you might want to sit down with it first.
