Yea around that time. The online was quite fun, and then it was just BAM! we're taking it down. Was disappointed when they did that. Same thing when Outbreak servers went offline too.
True but being tagged with a rerelease probably didn't help and now most of the online community has jumped over to Portable Ops. At least now it's a big part of a main title and there's probably more who have access to online on their PS3 via PSN. I mean I never took my PS2 online but with my PS3 I'm always on be it playing COD4 or just browsing the web.

I forget the address for the current official site but as soon as the new one goes up I'll, or most likely somebody else, will post the link.

EDIT: Probably would of helped if I checked out the link espressivo posted since teaser sites for both MGS4 and MGO are up:

So I don't get it. Are we suppose to be able to register for the MGO beta today...?

I went on the teaser site and didn't see any kind of registration form or anything . Has it not relaunched yet?
It looks like the US has it's own Beta plan in that you can preorder MGS4 at any major retailer and you'll get the Metal Gear Saga Vol 2 DVD that has the Beta access code in time for the beta test on April 21st:

My Medicom RAH Old Snake came in the mail today! Pretty sweet figure, though his all plastic outfit somewhat hinders the articulation (which is also turned out to be a huge dust magnet, gonna need a display case for this guy). And his vest seems really delicate, I somehow tore off the knife holster already, apparently the only thing that was keeping it attached to the belt was a thin piece of paper (instead of the same fabric at the belt). Also, I found the knife to be pretty much useless since it's thin as hell and Snake can barely get a grip on it.

Heh, other than those complaints, I think the figure turned out great (especially the sculpt). Can't wait till Raiden releases!

Well mine arrived today and I was going to post some snaps but about a minute out of the box and the figure's right arm detached from the shoulder joint and with the figure covered in a vinyl suit its next to impossible to reattach. The figure looks great but with the broken arm and knife issue I'm sending it back to Sideshow and considering cancelling my preorder for Raiden and just grabbing a few of 7" UDFs.

New Kojima Productions Report is out. Basically talks about the Essential Collection with MGS1 being on 2 PSone discs and not a PS2 DVD as reported which means you'll have to dust off your old memory card unless you have a PS3. Other topics covered on the report include Metal Gear Saga Vol.2 coming to the US and Europe, Japanese MGS4 boxart not final and some kind of major event for the team possibly a last minute field trip occurring next week.

I did preorder MGS4 at the local EBgames in Ann Arbor. I tried to find out if the associate knew anything about the possiblity of a LE or SE version of the game but knew nothing and had no idea about MGS4's release date, the preorder bonus or the beta aside from a PS3 bundle coming out...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Little update: Konami are now taking preorders for MGS4 and the various SKUs and PS3 bundle in Japan which features a new MGS4 edition PS3 in a new colour: Steel.

Regular Edition
Metal Gear Solid 4 + Metal Gear Online Starter Pack on a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc = ¥8,800

Special Edition
Regular Edition contents + special Blu-ray Disc with series extras in Special Edition packaging = ¥9,800

Premium Limited Edition
Special Edition contents + limited edition METAL GEAR SOLID 4 'Steel' PLAYSTATION 3 40GB and DUALSHOCK 3 = ¥51,800

The site also reveals a new MGS4 controller charger by Hori and 7.1 headphones.

Unfortunately neither are available, the MGS4 ones anyway, for purchase but they're apart of a givaway for those preorder between now and June 1st and 30 customers will be chosen at random to win.

The MGO side of the site talks about the 2 maps that will be featured in the beta on April 21st along with some new shots.

Speaking of the beta, SouthJag I don't suppose you've heard anymore about how you guys are handling the bonus DVD or code? Just asking since my GameStop has no idea about any kind of MGO beta or bonus DVD and the GameStop site only mentions that you'll get the bonus DVD when MGS4 ships..

We know we're getting something, but we don't know when yet. I think I remember an e-mail saying we'd be getting in the MGS1 - 3 chronology DVDs soon, and I guess the beta access kit is included with that.

I've been operating under the assumption that April would be the date for something MGS related to come in, but that's purely speculation on my behalf.
Well I assumed we'd get the DVD in April too but now I'm confused as to whether or not we're getting a DVD, emailed a code or what. Especially given GameStop's notice about getting the DVD that is supposed to have the code in it when MGS4 ships which would make the whole thing pretty pointless but then that's for online preorders so I wonder if it'll be different for in-store preorders (which I have) or for other retailers. Japanese gamers are already receiving a DVD with the access code to the beta.

Oh wow. When the MGS4 PS3 was announced in that 'Steel' color, I always assumed it would look like the old silver design when the PS3 was initially unveiled -
Spoiler:
Guess I was way off.

Also, how does that controller charger work? Do you just flip the controller upside down and plug it in? That might look a little...goofy :/.
Yeah you plug the controller in upside down which most chargers are like even the regular Hori one that is getting decked out in MGS4 deco.

Interesting enough is that MGS4 preorders kicked off last night in Japan which crashed Konamistyle and Amazon.jp are all sold out. Also Konami is throwing up MGS1 on the Playstation store next month:

Some good news for US folks as it looks like we'll be getting the LE version which includes:
  • Extra Blu-Ray disc with 2 "Making Of" documentaries and an interview with Hideo Kojima. Plus 4 chapters of the Metal Gear Graphic Novel.
  • Metal Gear Solid Import Soundtrack CD.
  • Artbook. Exclusive to EBgames/GameStop.
Source

Retail price is $84.99 and you can preorder now. My local EBgames has it in their system but of course I can't change my preorder without going into the store.

The CD info is a little vague too because it could be the OST for MGS4 or 20th Anniversary for all we know. That I remember the "soundtrack" CD for the LE version of RE4 was nothing but mish-mashed tracks from the RE movie and nothing from the games.

MGS4 shot to #1 on Amazon.jp's order list along with the Premium bundle that comes with the steel coloured PS3. Vendors in Japan are also taking orders and getting ready for MGS4:

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Nice news on the LE, hopefully the edition isn't as limited as the MGS3 Subsistence LE was and is available to us Canadian consumers (don't want a repeat of said situation, as that was BS).

I know it doesn't say, but I wonder if it'll be a steelbook release like DMC4 was. Unlike the DMC4 CE, the second disc better get a spot in the case or comes in a second blu-ray case and not in some cheap cardboard slip. Heh, and wouldn't be surprised if the artbook ended up being as cheap (small) as the DMC4 CE one. Also curious as to what they mean by 4 chapters of the MG Graphic novel (assuming it's the Ashley Wood MGS comics), eg. digital copy or an actual digital comic. Hopefully Payton can enlighten us on the LE contents, especially the soundtrack, come the new podcast.

Better slap down a pre-order sometime this week.
Yeah it does come in a steel case and I'd imagine the artbook would be mini but what the hell, it's MGS so of course I can't resist. Can't say what the deal is with Canada but if you hit up your local EBgames/GameStop then give them the SKU # for the LE version which is 270209.

I preordered my copy of the LE version today and got talking with the associates there and about if they're doing a midnight release which seems like a good possibility, it's just a case of working out payroll and who'd be willing to work that night.

On a related note I got my MGS4 7" Octocam Snake UDF today. Hopefully I'll have some snaps up later.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Anyways this is a worthwhile bump since a new video of gameplay has surfaced right in time for April Fool's....

FPS looks much improved now and tomorrow we should be getting more since the press got to play the game for 3 days to explore a new area and sit down with Kojima.

That was fucking epic. I'm a little unsure on what to think about the Gekko's AI, though.

I mean, when Snake initially ran away from the first Gekko, another one jumps over a building right in front of Snake's face and attempts to block his path. Running under the newly created debris, Snake attempts to escape from this new Gekko, only to see it give chase by jumping over the pile of rubble snake crawled under. Shit like that gives me a boner. Awesome.

But then right after all of this, Snake runs a little, the Gekko looks at him, and starts to casually walk away while shooting with very bad aim, never to be seen again.

I dunno. I just hope that they, you know, really put up a fight in the final game instead of just walk around and occasionally charge you. Still, if anything that video was just another indicator that the game is a definite must by for any PS3 owner. I wonder how many systems will sell when this shits released...
I like how when the second Gekko comes through the wall he's kicking a militia soldier into the wall as he's doing it.

I'm not too bothered with their AI though given that point is heavily scripted given it's the beginning of the game, or at least the moment you first get involved with the gameplay, so once you really get into it then it'll be interesting to see how their AI reacts but I can't wait for the one on one encounters...

FYI GameStop should be getting the Saga DVD tomorrow or Thursday since they were shipped out on 3/31 so check with your local store and if anyone gets them then be sure to post for confirmation!!!

First of many previews are now up with new screenshots:
Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns Of The Patriots Test / Preview | Playstation 3

Its in French so a quick breakdown:
  • Weapon system involves that you can customise weapons via Drebin in the pause menu but for new weapons you need to collect them on the battlefield and then sell them to Drebin for DP or "Drebin Points" where he'll then unlock the ID tags and allow you to then exchange the DPs for the new weapons. Interesting is that the price of each weapon can vary to be cheaper or more expensive given the state of affairs or "war time".
  • Framerate much improved since TGS07. Still some minor drops but Kojima promises they'll be ironed out for the final version.
  • New animations and CQC moves for Snake. In some instances Snake will now grasp his shoulder when in pain or takes enough hits. Previewer couldn't reveal what new CQC techniques there are or the new gadgets due to NDA.
  • Cutscenes all in real-time. Some controllable and some even run up to 30 minutes in length.
  • Good interview with Kojima. Talks about that he had a different ending in mind for MGS4 and although the final ending does go a similiar direction it was his team that convinced him to go with the new one although he prefers the original idea.
  • Kojima mainly hopes to use MGS4 as an example to his fellow Japanese peers that you can make a big budget game and sell many units and quit playing it safe with Brain Training titles and the like.

MGS5 confirmed. I hope he eventually reveals how he originally meant for the game to end well after the games release.
There will always be Metal Gear games with or without Kojima. Hell he was supposed to of stepped down after MGS2 and hoped that his team which consisted of younger members would take over the reigns...but nobody wanted to so Kojima carried on. The point is that this is Solid Snake's last mission and the conclusion to the MGS story that started 10 years ago.

He says the ending is on the same path just a different result. I mean I could imagine the original scenario being something like the E3 2006 suggested with...
Spoiler:
Snake putting the gun in his mouth ready to end it and then leaving it to the player to pull the trigger ala The Boss in MGS3. Something like that could of jerked the team the wrong way and pleaded for something maybe more "epic". I mean if that was the original idea...hell I don't know if I could pull the trigger or not to be honest...

Quote:
Ouch...does he have something against Nintendo or something, or just companies who purposefully create rehashed low budget game
No, his comment was geared to all the Japanese developers given the stigma in Japan where its safer and less creative to put together a budget and casual title which are dominating the charts in Japan rather than taking a chance with big budget title exclusives like in the past. Basically more Okami and less Brain Training I think is the point.

I saw those at my local comic shop last week. Originally, I was gonna pick up a set, but seeing them in person, I decided to pass. Just couldn't justify the price for em (~$23), they lacked any real articulation and the overall quality wasn't that impressive. Even though they weren't marketed as "action" figures, I was hoping they would have had a little more possibility (ahh, the RAH Snake ramped up my expectations). I noticed that the camo masked Snake had a black vest (like the RAH figure) and the normal Old Snake had the tan vest. Heh, I wonder if Snake changes vests (color) as the game progresses.
Yeah the articulation is really limited but I like my Octocamo Snake figure. Some nice detail and paint work and I've got the regular MGS4 Snake on the way which I'll get snaps of and throw up when it arrives. Overall though the UDF are a fraction of the cost compared to the RAH Snake and probably more sturdy too.

Well English previews are up now with IGN first. No story spoilers and the 4 page article mainly tackles the gameplay and mechanics:
IGN: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Preview
Quote:
Visually, Metal Gear Solid 4 is even more striking on the console than it has been in released trailers. We always had a sense that what Kojima was showing us was incredible footage, but the detail within the game itself is simply breathtaking. One example of this: when an explosion goes off near Snake, a fine coating of dust covers the camera, adding to the cinematic feel of the game. Another showcase of the striking graphics is the seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay, many of which are only highlighted by a camera shift to indicate the cutscene has ended and gameplay has begun.

Another thing that stands out is the sound quality of the game, which is presented in Certified Dolby Digital Sound. The ambient battlefield noise provides a haunting backdrop to onscreen action, making you feel like just one part of a much larger conflict. The game's soundtrack is subtly shaded by local musical influences, as in the Middle East level, punctuated by a driving techno beat that builds when the guards become alerted to your presence and increases further if gunplay breaks out.

As I said earlier, there's only so much I can go into right now, but this is the system seller that we've all known Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to be. This preview has only scratched the surface; we haven't even described some of the bosses, radical and innovative game mechanics, or other features that make this title a fitting conclusion to one of the best franchises in gaming.
They've also got an interview up with Hideo Kojima:
IGN Advertisement

GamePro's preview:
Hands-On: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3 on GamePro.com.

Same information but they do have a legend of the controller layout.
Quote:
Square: Activate auto-aim
Circle: Reload weapon
X: Crouch; hold to crawl
Triangle: Wall press; aim down sights (while aiming)

L1: Aim weapon (over-the-shoulder view)
L2: Hold to select items
R1: Fire weapon; CQC attacks
R2: Hold to select weapons

Left Stick: Move Snake; press gently to creep
Right Stick: Move camera, aim weapon

I really hope they didn't remove the R2 button being mapped as the secondary fire. Eg. You tap R2 to fire your grenade launcher or master key. I really liked the concept and thought it'd work great, especially for online play. Heh, instead of doing CQC, why not just tap the R2 for the shotgun blast (master key).
Probably still is mapped to R2 and they just didn't list it. According to IGN's Q&A the controls can be customised and we still don't know what the D-Pad does or L3 and R3.

Quote:
Here's a nice find, MGS4 music! The Launch Timer for the game actually has 4 short music pieces in it. Two pieces are from the E3 2006 trailer and are identified as the game's the love theme (between Snake and Naomi?), which some might have known already through the Smash Bros soundtrack. The other two pieces are new, and they're sounding really good. Ahhh, still disappointed that they've yet to present the new mix of the MGS theme.

BTW, any chance someone could rip the music from the Timer (look for BGM under the Menu)?
Here you go:

I really dig the US art given the worst case scenario was a CG cover akin to something like MGS3 but this one is classy and catches the eye. Likewise with the Japanese cover given it's some nice Shinkawa art and would sit well with my other MGS titles given the running image on all covers.

Metal Gear Saga DVDs are now at all, if not most, GameStops. I picked mine up today and its nice to have all the trailers released thus far in high quality especially the TGS' 06 one.

I think the EU and/or JP is best IMO since the generic US cover looks well....generic...

Also about the saga DVDs, I preordered the LE, am I entitled to this or do I have to do something else?
In store or online? If its in store then yeah you can go in and pick it up now but online is a whole other headache with GameStop supposebly emailing the beta codes and shipping the Saga DVD when the game is released or some other BS.

Likewise Canada is getting in the Saga DVD and should start getting it next week.

The beta code comes inside the DVD as a paper insert, so if they ship the saga dvd on the day of release, then you've pretty much got no chance of getting on the beta.
Right, which is why GameStop is saying that for regular or LE orders online they'll be emailing customers the beta code so they can still get into the beta and then you'll receive the Saga DVD when the game ships June 12th. Kinda pointless given the content on the Saga DVD is decent and its nice to have all the trailers but the beta code is the important part and really who's going to bother with the DVD when the game is released?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

i hope europe gets something spiffy as well =\
Europe is getting the Saga DVD but whether or not it'll have the beta code is unknown. The problem is that each Konami branch acts on its own which is why the US got the Essential Collection because Konami USA wanted to have something out for fans and newcomers to catchup on the series before MGS4 while Konami Europe didn't. Likewise its up the Europe branch if they want to do a LE version or PS3 bundle and sort it out if Europe is to take part in the beta.

I just picked up the bonus dvd. The cover has the image of snake and his lower half breaking down but its an inverted image.
It's basicly a brief summary of the "snake" characters and also has 4 trailers of mgs4.
Inside the case is the beta code. Now all I have to do is wait for the 21st o-o
Yeah just don't forget though that when the PS store goes back up next week you'll be able to redeem your code and download the beta then.

The "Assassins Solid" trailer is now available in HD for those interested:
Gametrailers.com - MGS4: Guns of the Patriots - April Fool's Surprise HD

Best thing is that you can get a better look at the location at the end of the trailer which seems to confirm the Eastern Europe location as...
Spoiler:
Prague.

For comparison:

I wonder if it's the location in the TGS '07 trailer where Snake meets EVA?

That and I just noticed Snake's vest is black...

EDGE UK has a big cover story for MGS4 since they were one of the 15 journalists to go out to play and complete the game. Here's a quick rundown of their preview minus any story spoilers:
Quote:
A 'virtual range' will be included from the main menu. Here you can test the huge amount of weapons in MGS4 as well as the various advanced CQC techniques in the game.

The game will feature various details to play around with such as highly detailed and fashionable consumer gadgets. PsP (?) sunny does...

MGS4 has been 4 years in development.

There will be one hell of a big bang of a final to the game. Not a whimper. This will blow you away.

Snake is a slave to injections that keep him alive.

The sneaking play of the originals with it's air ducts and cameras has now become a fast pace living battlefield of traps and innovations.

The control system is 'revised and improved'

The Gekkou (the mechs with organic legs that make mooing sounds) will work in packs to hunt you down. They can sense past your optic camo if they think something is amiss.

Snake will have two new energy bars that makes Snakes advanced age impossible to ignore:

Stress: This rises in response to fight conditions. This can work with him, giving him hightened senses such as accuracy and sustained damage being halved. But if in this condition for too long, snake will crash causing him to become exposed to his illness. a drag on a cig will help him calm down however.

Psyche: This affects your general state of mind in the field. The balancing of these two bars will affect your progress.

You can use a camera to sneak away from your mission objectives and record incidents happening on the battlefield in secret. Some can be 'unpredictable and dangerous' There is something special about the camera this time around but EDGE were not allowed to say what.

There is a "surprising degree of explorative freedom" in the game. You can choose to engage in battles if you wish, or just ignore them. Friends and enemies can be gain this way if you do choose to help one side out.

Productions values transcend modern video games: A Hollywood grade surround sound and moving track score by Harry Gregson Williams. Electrifying cut scenes and a sense of closure "more suited to Return of the King than Halo 3".

There is so much tucked away in the game that some things won't be discovered until months or even years after your first play.

Kojima says: As for future MGS I would love to produce rather than direct. But as far as Snake is concerned, this is it. It's over".
I'd avoid that PSM3 preview though since they seem to of done the exact opposite of Konami's instructions and detail everything to do with the first act from the cutscenes to the end of act.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Does anyone care to elaborate on the soundtrack that is included in the LE.

I heard it is embedded onto a BD disc, which makes it useless. I want to know ASAP so I can put in a preorder for the real soundtrack at CD Jap.
Supposed to be a seperate CD but whether or not its the MGS4 OST is unknown. Christ it'll likely be the 20th Anniversary CD or worse given its GameStop who gave away a "Resident Evil LE Soundtrack" with the LE version of RE4 and the CD ended up being a few select tracks of goth rock and such from the RE movie.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah but on the upside the MGS3 soundtrack was handled much better with pretty much all the music from the game in one release.

Not sure if any of the music on the DVD is from MGS4 though the credits music is "Calling to the Night" from Portable Ops.

Speaking of PO, after getting the Essential Collection I figured I'd go and play through the MGS titles in chronological order starting with MGS3, I just completed it over the weekend and wanted to give Portable Ops a go since I heard the story was supposed to be and significant to the whole Metal Gear universe but given I don't own a PSP I basically just watched all of Portable Ops' cutscenes on YouTube to get the story. Great stuff that further fleshes out Big Boss' story and there are some pretty important revelations in PO involving The Patriots and characters in MGS3 such as...
Spoiler:
Ocelot and Major Zero being among those who established The Patriots and were among the first on the Wiseman's Committee and at the end Ocelot asks Zero if they should ask Big Boss to join them. It also gets revealed that Zero was the one who orchestrated Operation Snake Eater to happen given Volgin fired the nuke at the end of Virtuous Mission because he was told to and not of his own free will.

he MGS4 LE contains everything the SE offers (above, yes, with the potential to get the “Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2” DVD with MGO Beta Unique Product Voucher Code insert), as well as a collectible box with exclusive artwork by famed Kojima Productions illustrator Yoji Shinkawa, an additional Blu-ray disc containing two unique and never-before-seen Metal Gear Solid “Making of…” documentaries, and the MGS4 Soundtrack. Additionally, customers reserving the “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” Limited Edition will receive an exclusive MGS4 Art Book at time of purchase. This offer is good while supplies last, see stores for details. The MSRP of the “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” Limited Edition is $84.99 USD.
While the PS blog doesn't have a shot of the boxart for the PS3 bundle it does reveal though that we're getting the same "Steel" PS3 that is apart of the MGS4 bundle in Japan that is sold out.

I was speaking idiomatically.

If anything, you can easily find a torrent of Saga Vol. 1 like I did :/.

Yeah, if you're a collector than this is a little worthless, but you'll still be able to see it this way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the first DVD merely a collection of all the cutscenes, with some gameplay footage thrown in there for transitions that required it? It's been so long since I've watched it...
Saga Vol.1 was more or less a documentary that had an interview with Kojima talking about developing MGS3 and scrapped ideas such as the original plan for the The Boss endfight to have her exposed tit out which would wobble to distract the player or something.

The Saga Vol.1 though was a preorder bonus for the LE version of Subsistence that came with a third disc that was all the games cutscenes sliced together to be something like MGS3: The Movie.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

What's to stop people from other regions from connecting? I hope they put these precautions in place, or my European PSN accounts going to be getting some use.
Well Konami already shutdown beta registrations in Japan since folks from the US and Europe were hopping on to get a code and to top it off Konami said that any IPs that don't originate from Japan will be banned from the service. I take it this will mean likewise for the EU signup incase the US offering fails.

That and they've tweaked Raiden's model to resemble how he looked in the E32006 trailer and the graveyard scene has been completely overhauled.

I mainly like how they got rid of the horrible filters that plagued the previous trailers making the game look much, much better.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Also looks like snakes beard will be changeable. The trailer is up on gametrailers but the image they used has snake with a full beard just like big boss and also I'm not sure but the first cemetery scene looks as if snake has no mustache at all.
Looks like they're going to change a ton of scenes from the trailers that were already revealed unless it going to happen like this:
Spoiler:
the intro of the game snake is at the grave and is about to shoot himself then the helicopter with colonel comes in and interrupts him he then later tries the same thing in the battlefield

Unless they just completely change the scenes from the trailers just to get it all hyped. Sorta like the trailers for advent children and in the end they didn't use or tweaked a lot of the scenes
Snake has no beard in the game nor can you grow one. Gametrailers just took a user created wallpaper that was done around the time MGS4 was first revealed in 2005. He still does have the mustache during the graveyard scene which takes place near the beginning of the game.

Quick comparison collage of the new trailer compared to the old trailers found on the intaweb:

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Does any one happen to know what language that theme of love song is in?
Hebrew. Some of the lyrics go as..
Quote:
I close my eyes to the sound of gunshots
I let out a roar and am instantly filled with dispair
All for those who live in the nightmare
Missing from the bottom of my heart
The heart which is dead
Wishes to the world that has run out of tears
Hope

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well going from the TGS'07 trailer and the EDGE interview..
Spoiler:
Its kind of a given that we'll be going to Shadow Moses as its probably the location of Outer Haven.

The Young Snake thing could easily be a mask or an unlockable given we saw it once before in 2006. Of course it could also be part of a dream sequence and if so I hope to see glimpses of Sniper Wolf or even Vulcan Raven.

That sequence did look fucking excellent though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Holy crap! That's pretty sweet!

Spoiler:
I'd say it looks more like we were infiltrating the abandoned facility, but Snake waking up and Otacon going are you ok? Kinda threw me off on that theory, plus the fact that he's young (which Simo mentined could be a bonus/mask, much like MGS3 and Raiden/Raikov's face).

EDIT:

BTW, anyone else kinda bothered by Meryl's new haircut? Maybe it's just the angles, but I liked it when her hair was longer. Can't help but think that this was their quick fix of the complaints about her hair being static.
Seems like alot of effort for just a dream sequence and Kojima mentioned in the EDGE interview that he wanted to take players back MGS1 or rather invoke strong memories of playing the game, which apparently was successful when he allowed former KCEJ members who worked on MGS1 to play MGS4.

I liked Meryl's longer hair too but in the new screenshots it doesn't look so bad:

The screenshot and more new ones BTW came from IGN's new preview where 70 European journalists got to play a more newer and completed build of the game compared to the one that the US and Japanese journalists played in February:
IGN: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Preview

Also they're throwing out more PS3 bundles in Japan that come with MGS4 in regular black, white or silver colors:

It looks like the regular JPN version gets the regular US boxart too.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
