Nice little treat for collectors as Medicom revealed a new MGS4 figure at ToyFair that Sideshow will be distributing stateside along with Snake this November....RAIDEN!

See I thought that Raiden's new gimmick was similiar to Olga with his abilities and strength enhanced by the new suit but it looks like he's more of a cyborg, more so than Gray Fox was...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Sweet! Was wondering when were going to get one. I wonder if there's any chance of them (re)syncing the lips for the english version, well I guess I'll just have to wait till the trailer to find out. Man, I hope that trailers pops up on the PS Store.
Most likely since they generally sync it up with the Japanese VA first and then use a tool to automatically match the animation to the English VA which probably explains why the synch isn't as good as the Japanese versions.

Meanwhile collectors might want to break out their wallets since Sideshow is now taking reservations for the RAH 12" Solid Snake and Raiden figures. Schedule for release in Q2 2008 and don't worry, they'll only set you back $175 a piece.

It looks Medicome tweaked the Raiden figure though compared to when it was last shown.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

They're supposed to be showcasing the full trailer during Sony's conference today which thankfully is being broadcast on TV thanks to G4. Although it doesn't really help me as I have to go work in an hour so I hope some kind of HD rip finds its way online...

A little taste though courtesy of Famitsu:

I saw that too but the problem with CSC is that with their shipping costs you'll be paying just as much as Sideshow is selling them and they only charge $8.50 in shipping. That and getting them from the source will guarantee you getting them should they sell out which is why I ordered mine through them.

Gorgeous trailer and the remodelling of Meryl is much better and approved.

Vamp dislocating his neck to avoid the sword was awesome. That said the trailer was a little dissapointing given it's short length with no gameplay and overall lacked the "epic" feeling of the other trailers. Next week should be much better with Kojima and the demo and hopefully some more info.

As for cisual quality, here's a pic of Meryl's unveiling, notice the improvement?
I love the new model as it looks like, for lack of better explaination, like a real woman compared to her old "anime" like look.

Actually all the models shown in the trailer look much improved with Snake looking very close to TGS unveiling trailer.

BTW, did anyone catch when he exclamed "Jonathan"? Could this be Johnny Sasaki? Oh and Meryl and her unit's suits look very similar to Big Boss' sneaking suit from MGSPO.
Yeah that's what I was thinking too given he's unaffected by whatever Liquid did and the voice and tips of blond hair are a dead giveaway.

Quote:
Story-wise, does anyone else think that they might do a sort of chapter/time-gap-thing like they did with MGS2 and MGS3. Eg. Begin the game with some events that happend 1-3 years (MGS2 Tanker Chapter, MGS3 Virtuous Mission) ending the act with something dramatic before the real meat of it all starts. Perhaps Snake obtains the Snake Eye (I think that's what it was called) during the 2nd part of the game? Or rather Raiden obtaining the exoskeleton in the 2nd act. Or maybe what we saw in the trailer was the beginnning part of the game.
Well Kojima has said the game would take place in more than one country so it'd have to jump around a bit, whether or not it'll be in similiar fashion as MGS2's chapters remains to be seen but you can already see some jumping with Raiden if that is him with Meryl since Mecha-Raiden...
Spoiler:
..is supposed to be 95% cyborg with only his head and spine as the organic part when we see him as the ninja. No doubt explains why he can sustain the damage he does including impaling himself and Vamp on his sword.

Quote:
And man that Raiden vs. Vamp scene really makes me wonder if you truely can't play as Raiden. I mean it looks like they're an even match, and with the way they closed it almost seems as if it leads into a boss battle.
I doubt it mainly because Raiden non-playable in MGS4 is like Kojima's middle finger to the naysayers and negative group of Raiden in MGS2. "You bitched about Raiden and only playing as Snake briefly in MGS2, well now you'll only play as Snake even if Raiden is super whacked out bad motherfucker that you wish you could play as".

Quote:
I'm also curious as to whether this MGS will include a dual audio track as well. It should be possible considering the storage space available on Blu-ray disc, then again in one of the Kojima Productions Report podcasts they kinda hinted at it possibly not happening.

Though I personally thought the english performances were great and wouldn't be upset if the japanese track wasn't included. Thumbs up to the return of Debi Mae West, Patric Zimmerman and Jennifer Hale, but WTF is Cam Clarke? Just isn't the same without him voicing Liquid. It also looks like the lips/mouth-movements will be somewhat insync with the english performances. So it might kinda weird/awkward when you switch to the japanese track. Anyway, assuming it's not included, you could always just import the Japanese version of game if you want the japanese track that badly (remember region free on games).
It'd be nice to have the option though as the Japanese VO is often better than the English counterpart given that Akio Otsuka is a genuine badass while Hayter tries to hard to sound like one but then the English VO is also alot more colourful, what with the accents, so I wouldn't want to lose that either. It's a shame Naomi doesn't have her hint of a British accent anymore but you could always argue that up to losing it during her 9 years absence underground...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Ahh, one can dream though. Now I'm very curious as to how the rest of that sequence is gonna play out, cause Old Snake doesn't exactly stand a chance against Vamp's speed. It would kinda suck if Vamp wasn't a boss (like Ocelot in MGS2), then again his grudge is against Raiden and not Snake.
Well I'm hoping we learn more about Vamp and what he is along with his history with Snake who leads you to believe he knew alot more about Vamp than he tells during MGS2.

Quote:
Yea, I was really hoping that she would retain her accent from the MGS performances. But now it looks like they're going with the TTS perfomances (continuity wise), meaning Mei Ling is losing the accent too. Heh, this is gonna be confusing for those who never played TTS.
I liked the accents too as again it makes the localisation and VO alot more interesting but Naomi losing it isn't all that bad either. Heck you could theorise that even the British accent was a fake given that she wasn't actually the real Naomi Hunter to begin with.

Watching the trailer over and over again and it's fun to find even more details like say, Johnathan's mohawk shaped like an "!" exclamation point or the Policenaughts reference involving Meryl, Johnathan and the rest of the team which might not have the hooded soldier actually being Raiden. For those interested the SOP that's referenced in the trailer stands for Standard Operating Procedure which is how a military unit operates in the event of no specific directives or orders are assigned, which in MGS4 is most likely governed by the unit's nanomachines going by the previous trailer. If Liquid can take control of a unit's SOP then it'll allow them to have full control of the entire unit and allow him to issue his own commands.

Don't forget that Sony's press event is on Tuesday where Kojima will showcasing MGS4 live on stage to the press so we might hear some details as soon as Monday night. Then a week from then on the 24th is the Metal Gear 20th Anniversary Event where Kojima will again demo the game.

Some new info from the Sony event where MGS4 was shown live on stage with the following being shown what you can do and what was revealed by Kojima during the presentation:
  • You can pretend to be dead by using the OCTOCAM.
  • New moves include being able to roll sideways while laying down, crawling forward by the hip high and down and being able to throw grenades while face up.
  • You can take enemies weapons away from them.
  • New weapon revealed being an electric stun knife to stun enemies.
  • Steel drums and trashcans can be used to hide in like cardboard boxes and provide a more stable and stronger cover than the boxes.
  • You can run and roll while in a steel drum but doing too much rolling makes Snake sick and vomit. To cure this you can distract Snake by flipping through a sexy magazine that now contains multiple pages which you can flip through. Like wise you can again use the magazine to distract enemy soldiers.
  • Disadvantages to the steel drums and trashcans is that hiding in them for too long adds a bad smell to Snake making it easier for the enemy to discover and find you.
  • Different viewpoints in the game that can be changed include an over-the-shoulder view and First Person. You can even play the entire game in the First Person view and controlling the crosshairs with the SIXAXIS.
  • You can also use the SIXAXIS to enable and disable the OCTOCAM.
  • Another use for the SIXAXIS is the ability to control support mechs and the Metal Gear MKII. The MKII also has it's own stealth mode making it harder for enemies to spot it.

No pictures or footage...Yet.

Some of the info is old since they were showcased in last year's TGS trailer but there's also some good new info in there too. Seems like next week's show will have alot more with it being Metal Gear's 20th anniversary and Konami commented that Metal Gear Online will be revealed at that time too.

Konami also put up the Japanese version of the E3 trailer which pretty much confirms that soldier who is unaffected by Liquid isn't Raiden given it's a totally different VA.

GameSpot now has up some great, in-depth impressions of the demo:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6175206.html
Quote:
Hopping down the building from where Snake started, the aged soldier approached a set of familiar bronze statues last seen in the Tokyo Game Show trailer. Here, Kojima went to the menu screen and selected the active camouflage option, where players can access disguises for Snake's face and body. Snake normally wears an all-purpose "Octo-Cam" camouflage suit, which lets him blend into his surroundings. However, apparently there are other selectable camouflage patterns in the game, one of which is called the "Statue-Cam." Kojima selected the Statue-Cam and an appropriate face mask, and--voila!--Snake's camouflage suit displayed a bronze finish. The PMC soldiers then walked by, mistaking the grizzled commando for a statue.
Shame we have to deal with more menus for the camouflage but it looks like it'll only be for optional or limited face masks so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Quote:
Kojima revealed that Snake can take his enemy's weapons in MGS4, and CQC isn't the only way to get them--holdups can also be effective. When Snake put a gun against an unaware soldier, the grunt raised both of his hands in the air, dropping his weapon to the ground and shivering. The holdup in MGS4 looks a lot more realistic than in the previous games. While keeping his gun pointed at the enemy, Snake used his other hand to frisk for items all over the soldier's body. He also seems to have gained a new move that involves delivering a death grip to an enemy's crotch, rendering that person unconscious in an instant.
Awesome.

Quote:
To help fight off one of the PMC soldiers, Kojima showed Snake's new best friend, the Metal Gear MKII. By selecting MKII from the item inventory, the player can take control of it and move around in either first- or third-person view. (Snake is seen crouching on the ground with his hands on the MKII's remote controller--which is an exact replica of a Sixaxis gamepad.) And while the stealthy MKII may seem small and harmless, it can knock out enemies with a powerful knock of electricity.
Quote:
As the demo neared its end, Kojima showed off some more weapons that can be used in Guns of the Patriots. He used an RPG-7 to explode a tank, an AK-102 rifle to shoot some enemies on the roof, and a P90 to take out remaining soldiers on the ground.

Kojima pointed out that while he had been attacking PMC soldiers and helping out the civilian guerrillas in the demo, it's really up to the player to decide which side to be on--or to not side with either of them.
Quote:
Overall, Guns of the Patriots defaults to the same kind of third-person view as previous MGS installments. The basic interface has been kept intact as well, with the item itinerary on the bottom left side of the screen and the weapons itinerary on the bottom right.

One addition to the heads-up display that wasn't in previous installments was a semitransparent, illustrated icon on the bottom of the screen that appeared whenever Snake was near an object that he could interact with, such as a wall, an unconscious enemy, or a ledge. Another such object was a dumpster in an alley, which Snake hid in until enemy soldiers cleared out. But since it's full of garbage, Kojima noted that Snake would start to smell if he stayed inside the dumpster too long, making himself more obvious to enemies. As he came out of hiding, Snake was surrounded by a swarm of buzzing flies, though shaking the Sixaxis controller seemed to swat them away.

Hu? No Snake Eater Subsistence style freely rotatable 3rd person cam any more?
If so, that's bad news.
Well that's just the default camera. You can adjust and change it to a number of options according to GameSpot including having the camera behind Snake and having over the shoulder aiming or playing the entire game in First Person view, so the Subsistence camera might be an option in there too.

The Kojima Productions Report Session 049 is now up:

Interesting things of note in the podcast include Metal Gear Portable Ops+ originally going to be called Infinity War and the good news that there will be a gameplay video from MGS4 posted online after the event, there's just no specific date but it'll be between the 24th and August 20th. The bad news however is that if they're going to post it on their site then it'll be in low res like all their other videos.

A little belated but now we have some snaps of the MGS4 presentation at the Sony event last week.

Naturally the photogs have the worst seats in the joint:

Rest here:
Spoiler:

From the first 2 images you get a good idea of the 2 different camera options from the over-the-shoulder RE4 style camera and what looks like the Subsistence camera.

The 20th anniversary event kicks off in 11 hours and 1UP will be covering it at least so some news might start to crawl out at 4:30am EST..

Additional Spam:
Event is over and the official site is updated with new screenshots of MGS4 and MGO along with trailers for Portable Ops+ and MGS2 Digital Comic:
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/event2007/index-en.html

Aside from the live demonstration of MGS4 and officially unveiling Vamp, Kojima also revealed another character returning: Eva:

Theres also a new Metal Gear game for cellphones where Sony will also release a special MGS edition phone with the game pre-installed. Alot of announcements about MG products including figures, food, drink, clothing...everything! I'm kind of wondering what these are as they seem like the Medicom 12" figures but I don't recall MGS2 Snake and Raiden ever being released so hopefully this is a new line:
Spoiler:

That's about it for the show.

Oh I also forget to mention that signups for the MGO Beta started today!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well I finally just watched the HD version of the gameplay clip. Aside from being fawking good looking and happy at how solid and smooth it looked, one of the big things I really liked what the whole sound design and effects especially in the background. It just added a whole lot more to the immersion and I can't begin to think what it'll be like when playing the actual thing in my home...after I pony up the $500 for a PS3 first that is.

I was worried that we'd have to deal with more menus to access different camouflages as well as using the Octocam when they switch to the statue camo but then that was until I saw the capture of the menu and what they must of done beforehand and what you'll be able to do in the game:
Spoiler:

"Save Camo Pattern".

Yeah but for arguments sake it's possible they're tagged via the nanomachines which every PMC is supposed to be stuck with now and Snake's nanomachines may have something that simply overrides that. Of course it really doesn't matter since at the end of the day Kojima is finally giving the option that the fans have been asking for since MGS1.

It doesn't. You can see the old crawling move being used early on in the video when Snake crawls to the edge of a building to scope an enemy on the lower ground.

Now to make everything perfect all they need to do is announce a date for the demo and a NA release for this...

...and I'll be happy.

lol you wish, I'll be really surprise if that collection come out in NA ...
It's a possiblilty! Ryan from Kojima Productions, and the same guy who hosts the Kojima Productions Report, said he's trying as best as he can to bring the set stateside. The thing only retails for around $60-70 and hell, even the import that was on Play-Asia is now completely sold out.

Holy crap! The demonstration footage is on the Japanese PSN! Downloading now (638 mbs)!

Now, we just need a damned downloadable demo!

EDIT:

Heh, on the merchandise side, looks like they're also making MGS1 Snake and Ninja Kubricks as well as MGS4 Old Snake and Raiden, plus a new MGS3 Big Boss. They look pretty cool, might try to get them, seeing as how I missed out on the MGS2 Kubrick.

Spoiler:
Yeah, gamersdye has up the HD 720p video up for download that is around the same size. I'm probably going to end up watching the thing a dozen times just to catch all the details...like say what looks like the option to switch between different ammo for the weapons.

The Kubricks look great especially Old Snake but I'm mainly after the Medicom guys. I passed up Big Boss when he was released with MGS3 and regretted it ever since so this time I've got my preorder in for both and won't miss out.

Quote:
BTW, anyone else read up on the new MGO? One of the Konami reps described it as a "hide-and-seek" game. The new SOP system sounds interesting, you can find/see location of your team mates on the map (even if a wall/box is in the way, you'll get an x-ray sort of view of em). Apparently the SOP system can be used a weapon as well. When you kill an opposing player you can tap their info link and find out the location of the player's team mates. Another new neat feat. is that you can attack while you're on the ladder now too. They also added the ability to choke, not sure if I like that (sees the potential of it being abused). Oh and the game now supports 16 players total, making it an 8-8 team match.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/807/807583p1.html

I wonder if MGO will be released before MGS4... The closed beta testing kinda hints at the possibility. Ahh, whatever as long as I can get a taste of the gameplay, be it from MGO or MGS4.
I only saw the direct feed screens but I'm still interested in it. IIRC they did mention that MGO was supposed to be released this Fall/Winter.

The gameplay was nice, but I hope that they implement more awareness in to the enemies... But I'm sure they'll do just that. The foes seemed very dense, and I figured Kojima would've made use of a silenced gun to down one of the fellas. Instead, SNIPER RIFLE BOOOOOM. Another guard strolls on by~

Looks real slick though. I just hope that this one scene doesn't turn out to be a special, staged gameplay scene =p Meaning few other scenes are as active as it. Because that seemed pretty cleverly played-out.
It seemed like the demo was being played in Easy mode along with infinite ammo and godmode which was more than likely for the sake of the presentation. Kojima did the same thing when demonstrating MGS2 & 3 as well.

I noticed when watching the video again that there is some weapon customisation in the clip, it's just Kojima skipped it during the cutscene when Otacon gives him the grenade launcher attachment. Just take a look at the weapons HUD before and after the scene and you'll see the upgrade.

2 little interesting bits of info with the first being a video interview with Ryan Payton that GameSpot did where he talks about the demo, new locations and the different gameplay aspects they have but the main tidbit is the hint that MGO will get an open beta outside Japan later this year. Hmm, I'm guessing we tap the R2 button is use the grenade launcher and stun on the knife, and hold R2 to load the weapon menu?

Does anyone else find this location eerily familiar to the Grozynj Grad base during the Sidecar runaway part from MGS3?

Looks alot like it even down to the walkway across the 2 buildings. I was hoping they would of released footage of the game by now though.

EDIT:
http://mp.i-revo.jp/user.php/kp-ryan/entry/107.html

New KPR podcast is interesting. The local Vamp & Raiden were fighting in was confirmed to be South America. And Payton didn't even deny that the guy with the mask & shades that wasn't affect by the nanos activation is Raiden as Randy Nelson babbled on about it.
Middle-East, South America...and there was a third region the game was supposed to take place. Nice to hear Payton confirm where the fight happens and again, the problem with that masked soldier being Raiden is that the VO and the actual VO for Raiden in the same trailer are 2 different actors.

The new 1UP Show covers the 20th anniversary party including an interview with Payton:
WMV: http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1...09_640x360.zip
PSP: http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1upshow_0609_psp.zip
QT Low - http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1...09_320x180.zip
QT High - http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1...0609_quick.zip
iPod - http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/Podcasts/072707.m4v

Some interesting details about MGS4 and MGO including using the SOP to hack an opposing team member and thus access all their maps and information. I had thought SOP stood for Standard Operating Protocol given that's normal army terminology but it seems to be something of more significance to MGS4's plot.

I guess one of the highlights of the show is Payton hinting that we may get a demo with TGS in September.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

It's probably just a map specific for MGO more than anything. While some areas in MGS4 will be in MGO I doubt Grozynj Grad will be one of them, I mean there isn't anything left considering it got nuked and the 40+ years since the events in MGS3.

Kotaku also reported the rumor today that TGS should see the announcement of an actual date for the release of MGS4 according a Konami shares meeting that was held. Q4 of March is expected so hopefully we'll know more in September.

Also is looks like Cam Clarke won't be reprising Liquid...

WHAT?! =( Whyyy... He was perfect, too ;_;
Konami never contacted him. Several people including a few members at MGSTUS contacted him asking about his involvement in MGS4 to which he replied he had none and wanted to reprise his role. Heck, he wasn't even aware the English VO had begun until word of the E3 trailer got to him.

Wait what... Q4 of March? What does that mean? Fourth quarter of march? O_ô
I guess it's their way of saying it'll be released sometime toward the end of March at least that's according to the rumour on Kotaku which is still just that now with nothing confirmed and most likely won't be until TGS in September.

Some good news about those figures shown at the party. Seems like they're a new 7" line by Medicom with multiple points of articulation and will be distributed stateside via Diamond/Previews and retail for around $20. They were on show at the SDCC so here are some snaps:

Most likely it'll be the same demo demonstration as the one at the Sony and 20th anniversary event. I wouldn't get my hopes up about seeing the demo on PSN either since Ryan mentioned that the likely possibility for the game to be playable to the public would be during TGS in September.

Still the hope of a new trailer and new project announcements has me excited for GC.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

New KP Report interview with Quinton Flynn. Heh, we get a sample of the english version of Raiden's line from the 2006 E3 trailer. Oh and Payton mentioned an interview he had with Kojima which is being done for a documentary. I wonder if this is for Metal Gear Saga vol.2 or for the MGS4 documentary the Japanese voted for a while back (mentioned in a previous podcast).

Plus they gave somewhat of a reason as to why Cam Clarke isn't back (more or less, decision was made by Kojima). Basically cause it was Ocelot's body, and that the original plan for the Japanese VA was to have the VA for Ocelot return (who we all know passed away, RIP). Oh and they released what Kris Zimmerman's relation to Pat Zimmerman's is. And interstingly they're still doing auditions for other characters in the game.

Saga Vol. 2 is already out, Hantei. It came with the recently released 20th anniversary boxset in Japan that covers all the Snakes in the series voiced by an unknown characters. I've been waiting for the is podcast so cheers for the link!

In regards to Clarke not coming back, it's a shame but I'm glad since that was really one of the ridiculous moments in MGS2 that wasn't necessary and really it should be only Ocelot's voice regardless if Liquid is in control or not.

So does that mean that the JAP and US versions of the game are going to be slightly different if in the JAP is's Liquid and US is Ocelot? Wouldn't make much sense in having Liquid's VA playing as Ocelot.
Not really. It's more to do with Kojima being loyal to his actors, alive or dead. Even if Liquid is in complete control of Ocelot it should be just Ocelot's voice but since Kojima doesn't have that option he's going with the second best thing rather than recasting the part.

I mean for the Japanese release of The Twin Snakes Kojima forbid Silicon Knights to recast another Japanese actor for Gray Fox, since the original actor Kaneto Shiozawa passed away, and so the English VO was used instead with Japanese subtitles.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Ohhh, I wonder how they're going to distribute it for NA now. My guess is a pre-order bonus for MGS4. Hmm, then that means that the interview Payton did is for the Documentary of MGS4 (haha, assuming that they are going through with it).
Well if they agree with distributing the 20th anniversary set stateside then Vol. 2 will most likely come with that. I'd imagine though it could always be a preorder bonus like you said should the set not come over but I wonder if the documentary is actually for the game, like extra bonus content similiar to the Euro MGS2 version which had a making of DVD....

Just gonna feel weird not hearing his voice. I mean Zimmerman saying "Brother" or something Liquidy is gonna sound so awkward.
Yeah but that in itself with Ocelot with a British accent was just as awkward and I wished they had just gone with the dropped cyborg arm angle. I mean it'd kind of shit to setup Ocelot with 40 years of history between MGS1-3 but then turn it crap just have him turn into Liquid and Zimmerman does an excellent job with the role including his small line in the trailer.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh, I agree Zimmerman is awesome and am loving what he's done so far for MGS4, haha even though it was only one line from the E3 trailer. Heh, don't get me wrong, if he didn't make a return I would equally complain about it as well. Just still bummed that we won't be hearing Clarke's Liquid in 4. It would have been better if they didn't even bother with the voice changes in MGS2 for Ocelot, that way we wouldn't have built up this expectation.
Yeah for continuity sake everyone kind of expected him to return because of MGS2 but I always assumed it was Ocelot's voice the whole time and we heard Liquid's voice just for the sake of players since there's that one moment where you hear both Ocelot and Liquid's voice at one time. Clarke did an excellent job even in MGS2 and it's a shame he's not returning but ultimately, IMO anyways, it's for the best.

I'm just glad Ryan was able to clear up the subject. Now all he needs to do is address the MGS theme and what the hell is going on with it....

And looky at what popped up on YouTube, Metal Gear Saga vol. 2 (though it doesn't refer to itself as such). Assuming that this does see an NA release, I wonder who they're getting to narrate it (in fact, I wonder who is the narrator for it, character wise). Ohhh and is that the instrumental version of "Calling to the Night" I'm hearing during the run down of the MG timeline and credits? I hope it sees a release in the near feature (why wasn't it included in the MG 20th Ann music collection!?!?)! Or at least a rip .

Yeah I saw that posted over at TUS but I didn't watch it yet mainly because some of the guys over at TUS are working on some English subtitles that are pretty much done and are just being encoded with the video. Hopefully it should be done soon.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

New podcast which includes some big news about the TGS:
i-revo The KP Report Session 057 マイポータル
  • MGS4 playable demo for the public confirmed for TGS.
  • New trailer at TGS that will also reveal the identity of the VO from the GC trailer and it's not Sigint. Ryan also warns that you might want to skip the TGS trailer since he thinks it shows too much and would of preferred some of the content in the trailer to be kept a secret until the game is released.

So the demo is in but now the question remains as to whether or not it'll show up on PSN or if Konami will include with a title which will mean a purchase. I'm hoping it's the former and if I manage to get my PS3 next week it'll sweeten the deal.

Semi-related but BigBadToyStore.com now has the 7" Medicom figures up for preorder:
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=417

The interesting thing is that the line consists of an extra figure not previously revealed that looks the same as Old Snake only with the mask on and lists it as "Otacon"....

How ya doing, buddy?

Yes!!! Please please please have the demo on the PSN the week of!

The VA in the GC trailer not being Sigint isn't a surprise, the guy sounded too young. Maybe he's one of the guys from the New Foxhound Unit.

Meh, the TGS trailer revealing too much doesn't really bug me since it wouldn't be the first time they've done it. If anything it'll probably be to the same degree as the MGS3 trailers. Though it does kinda bug me that Ryan says that he felt the trailer revealed too much, cause now we know there won't be too many secrets left (kinda killing the suspense/expectation for us to expect more).
Well this is the last trailer before the game is released so naturally I expected more to be revealed about the characters and story given what the previous trailers contained, or basically didn't.

Ryan is kind of hinting over at NeoGAF that the trailer will be on a full on one focusing on multiple areas rather than just the middle east setting. The MGS theme better show up in this trailer too otherwise I'd take that a sure sign it's been unfortunately axed for good..

Quote:
Heh, maybe it's a typo, perhaps it's supposed to say Otacamo? Though if that is indeed Otacon then there goes one secret/surprise revealed.
Seems to be a mistake on the sites part since I found the original Japanese advertisement that lists the figure as Snake but just with a different head.

How ya doing, buddy?

TGS TIME!!!

The new Famitsu is out with new screenshots covering the trailer along with some information:
Spoiler:

That's also Liquid in Ray and Snake in Rex.....

According to a rough translation of the scans MGO will be bundled with MGS4 but during Konami's conference and 1UP's liveblogging it was said that a starter pack will be bundled with the game. Hantei should be happy as the scans focus on the weapon customisation and from the sounds of it we should see it in the trailer.

MGS4 is playable at TGS on 48 stations with each player receiving a 52 page booklet on the game.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
