I think I've worked out a nice machine
Sup' guys.
I'm looking to build a new computer. It's primarily going to be used to play the latest games and be used to store and watch downloaded anime and such. Obviously nothing to out of the usual. I've narrowed down my selection of parts to this. Ultimately, I would like to keep my budget at preferably no more than $1500, I can probably go about $50 over though if neccessarry. So here's what I have selected: Case NZXT TRINITY BLK Black/Silver Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146015 $80 Power Supply Rosewill RP500 500W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182009 $55 Motherboard Asus A8N32-SLI nForce4 SLI X16 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127232 $175 Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103547 $360 Memory CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145575 $190 Video Card BFG Tech Geforce 7900GT 256MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143048 $330 Total Price: ~$1190 + Shipping Basically Im just asking that you guys look it over, make sure I havent forgotten anything, and ensure everything I've chosen will work with each other. Also, if you know of a better deal, like a different brand of memory that has the same performance for cheaper, Id aprreciate it if you pointed it out. A couple things before you do though. 1. I'm not concerned with purchasing a hard drive or optical drives. Ive got a crapload of hard drive space I can recycle to this new system, and the same goes for the drives. 2. On all of this, I am fairly indifferent which brand of anything I buy. I dont care if it's Nvidia or ATI; Corsair, Kingston, or Crucial; Except for the proccessor, which I do want to be an AMD. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

The same reason people spend upwards of $100 to purchase tickets to get good seats to a baseball game, or spend huge amounts of money overhauling their cars.

No particular reason, I'm just a tad worried about heat. If the 2 fans that already come with it will work alright, I could drop the additional two I put in there.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I plan on overclocking that proccessor a bit, and I'll likewise probably end up overclocking the video card also. Nothing extreme on either, just a nice small percent increase in power. Most amazing jew boots ![]()

You mean the two that come with the case? For $160, I hope so :/
I'm assuming the fans are considered a part of the case. Looking at the Thermaltake website, they do have a section for RMA's of any damaged products. I'm not to worried about specifics. If they don't want to replace in the event it breaks due to overusage, then the fan decided to up and stop working all of a sudden. Who would have thought it? Edit Turns out everything has a 3 year warranty, except...
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]()

Maybe it's just because I'm looking at the images and not the case itself, but the P180 seems to be a bit cramped. Is that what your hinting at with the weird assembly? Also, I've heard bad things about power supplies that come with the cases, the generic ones. Apparently they only rate in actuality at about half of what a brand PSU of the same measure would rate at.
So I was thinking instead, Ill go ahead and grab this case and replace it's PSU with this PSU. With those two, I would still come up with a net gain of $40 to spend on other component upgrades. Any good? Edit: Although I'm not particularly picky about how the case looks, I would like a bit of style. I don't want a 4 square corner generic looking beige box basically. That P-150 is probably the best example off the top of my head of what I would like to avoid. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]()

Sorry, Ascendancy, I once again forgot something else. I currently have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card in my current computer I'll be recycling to the new one, so no need to worry about that.
So stay away from Aspire power supply's, gotcha. As for the case, it looks pretty nice. I think my biggest concern with these black/shiny silver cases is how my current optical drives will look sitting in them. I have a DVD-RW drive and a CD-RW drive, both are a grayish sort of white. You think they would match that Centurion 5 case well enough? ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
See I was kinda wondering the other day if they even sold faceplates for optical drives. I don't want to go lay down $80 to get a different color drive. I suppose then, since I also don't want to spend $200 on a case, that a case with a door would be my best bet. Any suggestions for what the best case with an attached door would be?
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Has anyone used a NZXT before? I was browsing NewEgg and found this thing
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146015 Looks pretty spiffy, has a door, and looks to have a decent amount of internal space, so it seems to fit the bill for what I'm looking for. The power Supply of course will need to be swapped out, but does everything else on it look alright? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
