The problem is most likely while you're downloading, you're also uploading (hence the concept of torrents). Using up all your upstream makes it hard for your computer to send out data to communicate with web pages and AIM and the like.
Since you're on a cable modem, I'm guessing your upload's capping out at about 40-45k/sec. Try limiting it to 25-30k/sec and see if that solves your problem. Most amazing jew boots  |
