Got it, had Skills razz me about going for the low-hanging fruit first (got a good chuckle out of that), still trying to clear route E in Outrun. Note to self: see if using the transmission for drifting works over in Ridge Racer 6 (the first of whose last five races is proving quite challenging).
Lode Runner lands this coming Wednesday, too.

Apparently, Ikaruga might not be the only shmup destined for an encore appearance. According to this IGN article, Taito plans to return Raystorm to the wild this fall. A trailer is also out and about.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If this screenshot is to be believed, the game might have some 'reward' to offer for having Crackdown 2 and/or PD Zero saves on the same HD/memory card. And yes, I'm glad to hear that Counter-Operative is back (and still wonder why nobody else ever tried to duplicate the concept...)

Some trawling turned up the arcade game's official site, which includes such information as a complete rogues' gallery and stage maps. One feature that's hopefully being carried over as well is the ability to fly with a wingman.

As for unlockables, from the screenshots on the console version's page there is an EX Option menu which is home to a variety of optional tweaks. This menu itself is apparently unlocked by downing the XB-70 which appears in Canyon Grandeur (reference 2:57 in this video); with the various tweaks having their own unlock criteria.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention; reasonable avatar awards in this vein would also include a flight suit and aviator jacket. I also hope they brought over the co-operative mode...

Speaking of avatar wear, I've always wondered how come they don't have a 'package deal' for those outfits that come in multiple parts. For instance, the ST Tools Mk.3 suit and helmet cost, respectively, 320 and 160 MSP; why not also make available the option to purchase both items for, say, 400 MSP?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
