Component as in a 'white-red-yellow'? If so, putting it through a SCART converter shouldn't downgrade the end-result too much, if at all. And in any case it'll be better than the composite job.

Note that you'll need an RGB compatible SCART port in order to make full use of a 21 pin cable like this. If you have atleast a 'more-or-less modern' TV you should have atleast one though.
