Component -> SCART
 

Component cables give better results than the composite cables the Wii comes with. But my TV doesn't have component input. If I'd get a component -> SCART thing, would that even make any sense, or would the quality be downgraded again, back to what composite would show on the screen?

I dunno about component to scart or if it's even possible without using some kind of convertor box, and if it did work then some kind of signal degration would most likely occur.

I don't know about NL, but, here in the UK they're releasing a RGB cable for the wii at launch that'll plug into your Scart socket and give you a much better picture than composite.

Component as in a 'white-red-yellow'? If so, putting it through a SCART converter shouldn't downgrade the end-result too much, if at all. And in any case it'll be better than the composite job.

Note that you'll need an RGB compatible SCART port in order to make full use of a 21 pin cable like this. If you have atleast a 'more-or-less modern' TV you should have atleast one though.

How does Component stand up against RGB quality wise? Because I don't think I've actually seen a Component picture to compare the two.

If your TV doesn't have component input, RGB over Scart is the way to go for us PAL-guys. Component only pays off with an HDTV set, actually.

I even have two, I'm such a modern guy.

The Dreamcast uses the same amount of SCART-thing, right?

Like every other PAL-console, the Dreamcast only came with a composite (yellow for video, red and white for stereo audio) over Scart cable.

Only full 21-pin Scart is capable of carrying an RGB signal - and displaying 60 Hz, btw.

My TV is 50 Hz, though.

Well if it doesn't support HD or progressive scan, just get an RGB cable for Wii. That's the best quality signal you'll get from the machine.

Yea, just ordered the RGB cable for 35 Euros or so. Expensive 1st party stuff, but ah well.
