For those of us that missed the conference (grrr History class), does anyone know of a site that had text-updates or highlights of the show? Picking up bits and pieces by looking back at this thread is helpful and all but a little bit chaotic.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It's all there in text. Hopefully someone will have the video up in high quality sometime. I want it.
Thanks Acer.

A few things are unclear:

1) They didn't anounce an actual release date and price?:eyebrow:

2) So is the wiimote's speaker suppose to be "the last big secret"?

3) Nothing of Super Smash Brothers Wii was shown?

I was also hoping that they would comment on PS3's controler's last-second, motion-sensing inclusion. O well. It seems like the conference still didn't answer my main questions, but I'm still hyped.

Yeah I just read numerous articles that state how it's baiscaly the same ol' playstation remote but with the vibration feature nixed out in favor of very, very dumbed down wiimote-like functionality. (sensing tilt while remaining oblivious to actual 3D movement). I still think it was very pethatic of Sony to do this. It's like the feature is half-assed and it's not even what they're geniunly exploring in the first place. As if they merely, & quickly, threw the half-baked idea in there just to take a shot at Nintendo.

Anyway..., did they show any pictures or a video of that Wii sports title that has tennis, baseball and golf in one? I'm curious if it's gonna be more like a sports sim or take on a lighter tone.

Oh and Acer, it's odd that they haven't actualy anounced the specific release date and price yet, but I suppose there's still time. And yes, the launch line-up is indeed looking great with or without SSB:Wii.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I believe Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is. If this is as good as the first two Monkey Ball games, then that's all I need for months on end.

-EDIT-

During E3, do they usualy reveal answers to big questions (ones listed in previous posts) that haven't been answered during the conference, in the remaining days of the Expo? Or do these tidbits remain unanswered untill TGS?

If you scroll down a tad bit, you'll see numerous screenshots of the upcoming DS, Cube and Wii games shown. http://gonintendo.com/

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I guess we'll see the real goods at TGS. Remember last year? All they did at E3 was show the shell of the cosnole. It wasn't till TGS that they showed they wiimote. (And their awsome idea still got stolen!). I expect to know pretty much everything by this year's TGS.

So right now, you've got Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Red Steel and Metroid Prime 3 confirmed for launch. That's pretty cool in my book.
Wait, wait, wait, WHERE was it confirmed that Mario Galaxy's a launch title? If this really is true, then Wii will probebly have the best launch line up ever.

Most likely that'll be the wii controller it's already connected into that'll clip on for extra wii controller functions. That'll be sweet.

I'm dissappointed with seeing one of the small shoulder buttons being removed. They can't do N64 games right if they don't at least have those two extra shoulder buttons on reserve. The second analog control stick as N64 C buttons is a retarded idea and anyone who supports that idea is an idiot. Plus, the Sega games need six face buttons. This isn't hard, Nintendo. This really isn't. Just have six face buttons like the Genesis.

Oh and they better as hell pack this thing with the system and every controller bundle set. Developers might actually come up with creative ideas that might need it and the strapped wii controller in the future. Nintendo, would be alienating developers if every Wii user didn't have one of these for every Wii controller they buy.
I kind of think it'll backfire if they pack this in with the console. It might encourage developers to create games "the old way" as opposed to utilizing the core Wiimote. If it's sold seperately, it'll pretty much be certain that this'll only be used for the Virtual Console while the new Wii games definately strive to keep using creative control schemes with the wiimote. I think having that assurance is worth sacrificing new control schemes that use both the shell and the core wiimote. But meh, we'll see.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah I see where you're coming from Acer. We'll see. One thing's for certain: Things for Wii are looking A LOT better than they have ever looked for GC developer support wise so far. So I'm not really super, super worried either way regarding the shell.

As for the two different picks...uh, maybe the first one was made way earlier but they still chose to use it? Judging from the background of the two pics, it seems like the first one's merely present for use with the Virtual Cosnole demonstration while the shell in the second pick seems to be the main subject of the display. Thus, suggesting that the second one's probebly what it'll really be like.

-EDIT-

Seems like Mario Galaxy probebly won't be a launch title (The face. Click it.)

I don't really mind. I don't want them to bust out all their big, super-giant franchises right away at launch and then have us wait for a long, long time for more sequels. We're already getting freaking Metroid and Zelda. That's enough.

OMG, that blue wiimote is slick! I can only image a Wii in that creamy-blue color!

If I remember correctly, I believe I read somewhere an interview with Nintendo where they said the same opening accepts and ejects both regular DVDs and small GC discs. Apperantly Wii's slot itself knows how to take GC's discs in despite the fact that they're a lot smaller than the slot itself.

-EDIT-

Here's a list of games that EB and Gamestop are stocking up on. The earliest release date I found on there was 11/01/06. I wonder if this is any indication to Wii's launch date. I was hoping we'd recieve it some time around November. Also, the games are listed as $59.99 for pre-release price. WTF?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Looks like the Wii banner for games' covers has been revealed. This was on another forum with no source so I'm not sure how official it is...but here:

Good God! I leave this thread for like half a day and some idiot comes in and attempts to shit all over it. Acer, I had seriously forgotten how unpleasant Wii related threads were before you decided to bitch-slap morons outta here.

Anyway, first Sega, and now some other analyst predicts that Wii will be $200.

That's pretty awsome! I can only dream of the different accessories they'll come up with using blue-tooth. Oh and here's a very, very well written hands on Wii demo impressions by penny-arcade.

On another random note, I cannot wait to see how the wiimote will work with future music games.

Yeah especially cause the 360 will have some sort of a price-cut around that time to compete with Sony (and Nintendo even). We know this, they know this, everyone knows this.

Remember that Time Magazine article on Wii? Here are some of the mag's readers' replies. And the first two are idiotic assholes.

Quote:
“A Game for All Ages” [May 15] reported that Nintendo hopes its new game controller, which senses a player’s hand movements, will appeal to girls and grandparents. As a female gamer who has been playing video games since the days of Pac-Man, I am always amused by game companies that feel the need to target female gamers. Not one of the games aimed at girls has appealed to me. You know what I want in a game? How about realistic female characters instead of bouncy, skinny, half-naked ones? I’ve given up playing female characters in any game because of how they look. Does anyone really believe female warriors ran around wearing little more than a metal brassiere? If Nintendo is serious about wanting to reach the female audience, it should treat us with some respect. We like questing too!

MICHELLE HEDSTROM Santa Clara, Calif.
What a fucking dumbass whore. Yes a lot of videogames out there starring female leads have them wearing next to nothing, but why is she harping at Nintendo over this? As a company Nintendo's products tend to be as offensive as anything wholesome! When the hell did Daisy, Samus, Peach, Titania, etc. frolick around in buttfloss and nipple-pasties? I can understand if she was upset with Sony or Microsoft over this but Nintendo? And this is coming from a self professed "gamer"! I feel sorry for girl-gamers. Bitches like her must give them a terrible rep. Oh and I just love how she managed to stereotype videogames just like the ones made by other companies managed to stereotype her as a woman. Oh the sheer irony!

Quote:
Nintendo believes that nongamers do not play video games because they are “really hard” and the “learning curve is steep.” As a nongamer, I have another take: we do not play video games because we prefer fresh air and sunshine, exercise, good books and conventional card and board games that allow us to interact with other humans.

SUSAN MYCROFT Asheville, N.C.
Wow. That's not condescending at all! You hear that Nintendo? If you wanna lure in none-gamers into gaming, then stop creating amazing, innovative, and inclusive new gaming hardware and focus on providing us with none-gaming activities that are so much higher and mightier than videogames! =/

Some people's stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Bitchfest

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

It's an interview with a guy from ATI saying what we've seen thus far for the Wii is essentially the tip of the graphical icberg. I was actually hoping for something llike this, but with Nintendo's refusal to release specs, I wonder exactly what we're in for.
Yeah I saw this a while back. I honestly don't even mind if what we saw at E3 was pretty much the peak of Wii's graphical power. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a bit of a graphics-whore, but I really think Wii's visuals look more than adequate! The detail on Mario's denim overalls, for example, is great!

Anyway, here's another little tidbit mic/no mic?

I must say, with the wiimote doing what it does, having a speaker, and now a rumored mic, I'm very concerned with it's battery life. I believe I read somewhere that it's not gonna be rechargable anymore (at least not at first). Seems like that thing will go through batteries like crazy!

Oh and why is this thread so inactive now?

I know it's totally pushing it, but it'd be sweet if those replicas came packed in with Wii. But, I don't even see them selling these seperately. I mean, why create a seperate, all in one, classic Wii controller if you're gonna have the actual older controllers available?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

You can play PC emulated games on a keyboard, but playing on a real controller is much more gratifying.

It's possible they won't go ahead with them in the end, but I like the idea of giving people the option, cause I sure as hell want to play my N64 games on the proper controller.
Yeah I guess that's true. Being that Wii's meant to appeal to both avid gamers and average cosumers, I think giving the most options would be the safest bet. I still think that having an NES replica's kinda redundant though since the wiimote itself seems to replicate one even better than the all-in-one retro Wii controller when held horizontaly.
